Matt Johnson is a creative genius! Brilliantly executed and Hilarious! The audience was roaring with laughter and applause from start to finish. The film does an amazing job of merging footage from the cast in years past with current day footage to crate perfectly ridiculous time traveling experience with humorous nods to Back to the Future and call backs to the show by the same name as the film. The intentional efforts in direction and cinematography make you believe the film was effortless and coincidental. Matt Johnson's genius is evident in all aspects the film.
On deeper level the story is one of friendship, loyalty, and aspirations.
Truly an extraordinary piece of comedy.

By far the funniest movie I have seen this year, and I have seen a lot! It was a pleasure to watch this in a sold out theater, the jokes did not stop rolling the entire way through. I knew of the web series which were nice short episodes and didn't know how this would translate onto the big screen, but this is such a strong performance. Everything about the movie feels organically driven, I could not stop laughing. Best is in the middle of it all there is a heart felt connection between these two characters and even if you have never seen the show or web series before you will feel that warmth as well. One of my favorites of the year.
Watched at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival.
Safe to say, Matt Johnson has become one of the best Canadian filmmakers in our current times. Johnson has crafted a hilarious and excellent buddy comedy sci-fi movie that clearly understands the self-awareness motions the setting plays, and crafting many creative humorous choices and decisions that are perfect. With a very low budget, what I love about Johnson's work is that Johnson always finds creative ways to tell his stories, direction, and choices in unique ways even when the money is low. His creative approach on the setting, atmosphere, themes, and tone are absolutely brilliant.
Throughout of this movie, based on his web series, this movie successfully captures the insanity and hilarious moments as the show did, adding with new commentaries, fun characters, and humor all around. Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol as the main duo continues to have strong chemistry, fun dialogue, and entertaining moments together, as they are one of the best Canadian duos of comedy era. Alongside with some very creative editing choices, camerawork, and music choices.
The writing takes clever notes and takes on blockbusters but also new creative concepts and themes that really work. I must say it's quite risky but there are certain moments that I am surprised copyright has been striked yet cause wow, Johnson doesn't hold back the punches.
The TIFF experience I attended was a blast. Everyone was laughing, cheering, and going insane over the movie. It's one of the best Midnight Madness experiences I have seen in my life.
Overall, this was one of the best movies I have seen at TIFF, and frankly, one of the best of this year.
