This was by far the worst acting, plot, sound quality, and cinematography I have ever seen. I'm just thankful it was a mystery movie night to not have wasted more money.
What was up with the helmets, and cheap costumes and weird expressions. It was so bad you see the main actor lick his lips like a cheesy stripper trying to act sexy.

Parts of the story are gripping, the other parts I slept through. The acting was about as good as one could expect from such a bad script. Is the guy who played the art historian in Downtown Abbey in dire straights? There were far too many contemporary idioms. I've often said when seeing the directorial efforts of Ben Hecht and Preston Sturgis that they should have been chained behind their typewriters. I think the reverse may apply to whoever directed this. The ethnic mix of the cast was suspiciously contemporary for a world that only had muscle power. The plot was difficult to follow because of the time jumps and dream sequences. The one really good thing was the production design. It did look like a different world at a renaissance tech level.
Congratulations for making a sapphic book about a man (Galitzine, who hams it up way too much) They ruined it by not sticking to the book and we all know the only reason Charli is in there is because they thought it would build up the hype. Why they thought it would be a good idea releasing this to 823 theatres (which is NOT a limited release) is beyond me. This is nothing more than a vanity project aiming for awards and wildly missing the mark. The acting is mid and the chemistry non existent. It's just bland. Skip.
Saw 100 Nights of Hero at an early screening as part of the Regal Mystery Movie. The film focuses on a patriarchal society that uses religion to control women and all aspects of life. It's a tale as old as time, but here, they worship Birdman. Unfortunately, the film can't gain enough steam to take off.
Positives!
+Excellent use of stained glass lighting to express emotions of scenes.
+Cast is sufficient in acting.
+Interesting costume choices.
+Fitting orchestral electronica score.
Negatives!
-Themes are very surface level.
-Lens flare effect on ALL candles!
-Plot jumps between main story and stories within stories without much connection.
-Feels like a school project.
-Scenes are cluttered with objects. Felt like a music video set.
100 Nights of Hero is Okay at best. It feels like a teenage introduction to dealing with the patriarchy and feminism. It wasn't boring, but was certainly unremarkable.

All men are bad (and possibly gay) and All Women are good (and definitely gay, even if they don't know it).
The visuals go from pretty good to plain old bad - it's like the visual effects team ran out of time.
The interesting part of the movie was the theme of written vs. Oral story telling. This could have been told in a much more even and plausible backdrop, but obviously it's 2025 so we have to bash men and religion.
I would like to challenge this author and this director to tell a story without this scaffolding. There were some creative elements that might play better in a way that doesn't insult half(?) the movie goers.
