    So it's Asylum! So what?

All through the 80s, we had to suffer through some real low-quality B movie producers. Remember Troma? Golam and Globus? That one that Disney owned? Yet, once in awhile, they'd produce something interesting. If you're willing to suspend your disbelief for A-list movies, then B movies should be included too. This one isn't as bad as some make it out to be. You'd be pleasantly surprised.

    Oh, it was pretty bad...

While I had indeed never even heard about this 2025 movie titled "The Land That Time Forgot", as I stumbled upon it by random luck, I must admit that I harbored zero expectations to it, as so many dinosaur-themed movies turn out to be questionable affairs. Yet, I still opted to check out the movie and see what writer Dan Telfer and director Anthony Frith had to offer.

Then when the movie started and that wonderful logo from The Asylum showed up, I must admit that my it wasn't exactly helping to raise any expectations to the movie. Sure, The Asylum does spew out the occasional enjoyable and entertaining movie, but the majority of their movies tends to be dubious.

And with Michael Paré being the only familiar face on the cast list, well it wasn't exactly looking bright.

Apparently this was the second time that The Asylum opted to do their own take on the 1974 movie of the same time, with the first attempt being back in 2009. I have not watched the original 1974 movie nor the 2009 remake.

Writer Dan Telfer didn't really put together a particularly interesting, enjoyable or entertaining script. While I haven't watched the 1974 or 2009 versions of the movie, then I don't know how true this 2025 rendering was to those movies.

Not even seven minutes into the movie and someone killed a dinosaur that was larger than a submarine with a hand axe. Yeah, that was the level of realism that The Asylum opted to go for here in 2025.

The acting performances in "The Land That Time Forgot" were a bit all over the place. Some of the performances were adequate, while others were wooden.

As for the special effects in the movie, well I will say that for a movie from The Asylum then the effects were actually not all that bad. The Asylum have an abundance of movies to their name with really, really questionable CGI effects. But the effects in this 2025 movie were for the most parts fair enough.

The movie's cover was actually the best thing about the entire ordeal. And it over-sold the movie by a landslide. But that was hardly a surprise.

This was not a great movie, and it is certainly not a movie that I would recommend you to waste 89 minutes on watching. Some of us literally suffered through this, so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.

My rating of "The Land That Time Forgot" lands on a very generous two out of ten stars.

    Terrible on all counts

This is a really, really terrible movie. The writing, the direction, the acting, the editing, the effects, all really bad. This movie is not worth watching. There is no real story here, just situations that pop up out of nowhere and never get resolved. It was so bad I couldn't finish it. I would really recommend skipping this one. Another Asylum stinker. The actors are all terrible, several in serious need of a dialogue coach. The indoor scenes all take place in very small (cheap) settings. The exterior scenes contain some nice scenery, but no action there. I can't believe I paid money to watch this.

Despite the crew saying repeatedly that they are Australians from the Royal Australian Navy, speaking in Australian accents and wearing Australian flags on their clothing, the DVD cover notes describe them as 'survivors of an American military vessel'.
