Let's make a zombie movie even though we don't have much of a budget or a story we want to tell. We will have zombies show up every now and then, and random stuff will happen. We'll have a few creepy parts and a mildly suspenseful moment or two. We won't really have an overall point or purpose in our movie. Just some unrelated events to give the viewers a taste of what it would be like if zombies were around.
Sigh. When the movie was about to end, I had two feelings. One was saying, please don't tell me it's over, please tell me there is something more to make this experience worth it. The other part was saying, just end it, I don't care, I want to go home.

There is nothing in this movie that you would like, watched this movie on Monday Mystery in Regal. Was so disappointed, not sure why they add so much of emotional drama to the horror genre nowadays. You don't even get connected to the emotions in the movie. Such a good premise at the start and it went nowhere and the climax. Not even TV worthy. Save YOUR MONEY AND TIME....
No pun intended - it is something one can say - though of course you would hope that people would live a more fulfilling life ... more years that is ... and not being taken away for no reason.
Literally that is - the event that kicks off the movie and sends out main character on a journey. Now you may question her motives ... but if you do that, you won't be able to enjoy the movie. This is also more a drama than horror movie - there are scares, but they are few and in between.
Still there are some gruesome effects - in case you were wondering. Daisy Ridley of Star Wars fame - I was a bit surprised she would do a low budge road movie. But it really works for her and the viewer ... the theme of Dead coming back to life is not new (wouldn't call them Zombies - more "undead" ... also able to be fast moving in case you care).
Acting is good - and there is some sort of redemption ... will it be satisfying?

We Bury the Dead was an interesting watch. With what felt like few zombie scares came a really good story about someone looking for someone they lost and how they found them. While the scares that were in the movie were effective and flowed well with the story, there were very few it felt like even for a runtime of 95 minutes.
Got an early screening of We Bury the Dead for the Regal Mystery Movie. The trailer makes it look like an exciting zombie drama. But it certainly is NOT. The zombies are background noise.
Positives!
+Daisy Ridley and Brenton Thwaites do a good job with the script.
+Good Zombie design.
+Using zombies as an allegory for loss and grief is a good idea.
Negatives!
-No explanation is given for anything. Not the explosion, the zombies, nothing.
-Trailer is a bait and switch.
-Surface level drama.
-Zombies offer nothing to the story.
Honestly, this film should have been a miniseries. Then it could have explored all the missing details from the film. If the zombie angle was removed, the film would be nearly identical. Thats how little they matter. If you want a surface level drama about cheating spouses, check it out. If you're looking for zombie action, keep moving.
