Watched this for the first time 50 years after its release. I knew the name Cronenberg, but not this movie. And now it's something I won't ever forget. A lab-grown slug parasite that makes people amorous to infect others. And that includes children, Yikes.
Positives!
+Loved the colorful and character oriented apartments (restored Bluray).
+Good body horror effects.
+Lynn Lowry does a great job, and very beautiful.
+Very shocking and progressive for its time.
Negatives!
-Parasite puppetry wasn't the greatest.
-Lack of soundtrack in many scenes (low budget).
-Might be too disturbing for some. Plenty of assault.
It takes a lot to shock me, and this one got me good. There's a lot of talk about adults and children that I wasn't expecting. It's obvious how this film influenced future films like the Alien franchise. Its age and budget might make it palatable for a modern audience, but it's the themes that will creep up on you.
7.5/10!

Whew, Eddington is something. Personally, I found reliving the pandemic to be quite painful. The first half of the film is so full of propaganda (all sides) and cliche characters, it was painful. Seeing people crash out because of a mask was annoying. The second half descended into madness, without explanation, and was more more enjoyable.
Positives!
+Movie looked really good. Great shot compositions.
+Good commentary on social media usage and reliance.
+Action of ending was fun, though random.
Negatives!
-Reliving covid, ugh.
-Felt more one-sided than it should have been for a satire.
-BLM protestors were the most negatively framed characters, even worse than the murderers.
-Characters just disappear from the story.
-Ending explains nothing about a certain militia group.
-No Mention of the sitting President of the time, but his policies and conspiracies are on full display.
Do I sound bitter? Hah, I assure you I'm not. Just disappointed because this could have been the satire of the decade if it was more balanced. Top billed cast are hardly in the film too. Too much is left on the table and the imagination of the audience, despite presenting intelligent ideas. Ari Aster needs some assistance with these scripts. Eddington was enjoyable, but falls way short of its potential.

This was my first time seeing the 1996 film The Craft, 29 years after its release. And honestly, it was pretty good! Three school girls are social outcasts who dabble in witchcraft. When a fourth girl comes to town, they find that their powers are indeed real.
Positives!
+Each girl has a background and struggles.
+Magic lore felt thought out.
+Strong 90s vibes.
+Creative and risky artistic choices.
+Practical effects with creatures.
Negatives!
-Robin Tunney's wig!
-CGI doesn't hold up, but thats not a big deal.
-Pacing issues.
-Watched on DVD, and film transfer was very bad, major sound issues.
The Craft was a surprisingly interesting film. I liked that each girl was given her own stories that intertwined. While it does show its age, it manages to stay relevant.
8/10!
