Natasha Lyonne and Rian Johnson's hit streaming series, Poker Face, is set to return this year. And, well? The list of people they've finagled to guest star in Season 2 is actually unhinged. Like, the list of people who are going to be on this show is truly outrageous and unfathomable to someone like me, a person who does not cast television shows. But if I did? And I managed to pull this off? I'd be screaming it from the rooftop, folks. Because this cast list? It's truly the best of the best of the funniest, most talented people currently working in Hollywood.
And it seems that Lyonne and Johnson recognize that, sending along a note with the press release teasing the series' forthcoming slate of episodes. And though we don't know the exact premiere date yet — all it says is "Spring 2025" — we do know the 12, 60-minute-long episodes will feature Many very,...

As Kansas City Chiefs players continue to process their lopsided loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl Lix, Hollywood insiders are watching to see whether Travis Kelce is ready to snag a coveted acting career.
The year has not quite gotten off to the start that Kelce might have expected. Although the star tight end — along with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the team — reached the Super Bowl with a chance to win a third straight championship, the Chiefs’ prolonged dominance saw some football fans turn on them or become convinced that refs give them more favorable calls. Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift was booed at the Super Bowl by a seemingly pro-Eagles contingent, while Kelce himself caused a social media stir ahead of the big game after calling it a “great honor” to have President Donald Trump in the stadium.
It remains uncertain whether the 35-year-old...

Saturday Night Live star Ego Nwodim is ready to trade in late-night TV for morning television. NBC announced the SNL stand-out is getting a new gig.
Beginning on February 3, Nwodim will co-host Today with Jenna & Friends alongside Jenna Bush Hager. The Saturday Night Live cast member is scheduled to appear for the entire week.
Clearly, the decision-makers at NBC appreciate what they have in Nwodim. In addition to starring on Saturday Night Live since 2018, she also co-starred in the Peacock original series Mr. Throwback that premiered in 2024.
Expect much to be made about Nwodom trading in her late nights at SNL for the 10 a.m. start time for Jenna & Friends. But thankfully it comes during an off week at Saturday Night Live, so Nwodim shouldn't be too exhausted.
The co-hosting stint will also serve as a promo for Saturday Night Live's 50th anniversary special coming to NBC on February...

New York Yankees legend and Fox Sports analyst Derek Jeter is trading in his cleats for a clapboard.
The baseball hall of famer has quietly launched a production company, Cap 2 Productions (a reference to his number with the Yankees, and his role as captain of the team), which he hopes will take full advantage of the burgeoning interest in sports-related content from TV channels and streaming services.
“It’s not just some random company that was started because we said, ‘hey, we want to get into production now.’ This is an extension of what has been built over the last 10 years,” Jeter tells The Hollywood Reporter in his first interview to discuss Cap 2.
Jeter frames Cap 2 as an expansion of what he did with The Players’ Tribune, the athlete-focused digital publication that he co-founded with Jaymee Messler in 2014.

Stephen Curry has four NBA championships, two NBA Mvp Awards and an Olympic gold medal, but the Golden State Warriors star is now setting his sights on Hollywood.
Curry is currently starring in Mr. Throwback, a comedy on NBCUniversal’s Peacock, and his Unanimous Media has a full slate of projects and concepts in the works meant to turn the athlete into a media mogul, both in front of and behind the camera.
Over lunch in New York, with his gold medal conspicuously sitting next to his plate, Curry and Unanimous CEO Erick Peyton discussed their plans to turn the company into a bona fide entertainment powerhouse, as well as Curry’s desire to get more acting roles, with Peyton noting that the company is developing a “menu” of options for Curry that he can turn to whenever he decides to hang up his Under Armour sneakers on the court.

On August 10, the world watched as Stephen Curry exploded in the fourth quarter of the gold medal match against France to lift Team USA to its fifth straight gold in men's Olympic basketball. After his fourth consecutive three pointer, Curry pulled out his signature "night-night" celebration, which, according to his series, Mr. Throwback, was actually stolen from a middle school teammate. If you watched the Olympics on NBC or its affiliated streaming service Peacock, you likely saw a number of commercials for Mr. Throwback, the mockumentary series starring and executive produced by Curry.

Time and time again, we’ve seen how combining big-name Hollywood stars in a made-for-streaming movie is a recipe for success. Netflix’s latest attempt at that formula teams up Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry in “The Union,” and it pays off. The action comedy sits atop the streaming chart on the Samba TV Weekly Wrap Report for the week of August 12 to 18, 2024.
“American Murder: Laci Peterson,” a true crime docuseries about the 2002 murder, comes in at No. 2 this week. It’s followed by “Furioisa, A Mad Max Saga,” which, conveniently for viewers searching across streamers, is on Max. The summer blockbuster, which hit theaters on Memorial Day, is the third-most watched program this week.
The fourth season of Netflix’s popular “Emily in Paris” enters the chart at No. 4 this week after it was added to the library on August 15.

Quick Links Who Is Stephen Curry? Stephen Curry at the 2024 Paris Olympics Mr. Throwback Has Humor and Heart Why Mr. Throwback Is Worth Watching
For those who enjoyed the 2024 Paris Olympics, few moments outrank the exhilaration of the U.S. Men's Basketball Team winning a gold medal versus France. In the game's intense final moments, all-time great NBA shooter and future Hall of Fame point guard Stephen Curry took the game into his own hands and delivered a crushing knock-out blow to the French team and their local supporters. Before sinking the game-sealing shot, Curry made three straight three-point shots and scored nine consecutive points. After failing to capture gold in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the vindication feels extra special for Curry and his long-time colleagues.
Of course, those tracking Stephen Curry's career on The Golden State Warriors since he was drafted in 2009 know he is a natural entertainer with charisma through the roof.

A month after NBC broadcast live Steph Curry’s heroics during the Men’s Basketball Olympics final that helped USA clinch the title, the Golden State Warriors star will be back on the network. NBC will air the first episode of the Peacock original comedy series Mr. Throwback, starring Curry and Adam Pally, on Sept. 12. The pilot will run in the anchor Thursday 9 Pm slot from the network’s “Must See TV” era.
The move is designed to give additional exposure to Mr. Throwback, which premiered Aug. 8 on Peacock alongside the streamer’s Olympics coverage that included Curry & Co.’s quest for Olympic gold.
The half-hour, co-created/executive produced by David Caspe, ranks as a top 5 Peacock original comedy series launch based on its opening weekend viewing out of 19 comedy shows the NBCU streamer has introduced so far. Not surprisingly, 77% of the accounts who watched Mr. Throwback also watched basketball at the Olympics.

I'll be honest. Peacock might not be the first streamer you think of as your go-to. But really, the platform does have some great shows to offer. And that definitely includes Bel-Air season 3! The next chapter in the dramatic story premiered Aug. 15, 2024 with the first three episodes, and we're so excited to see what the season brings.
Season 3 sees the main characters enjoying summertime and taking a break from school with Will and Carlton perhaps finally finding common ground and supporting each other. What I like about this show is definitely the drama, I'm so here for it. Right now, Bel-Air is one of the best series' out there, and I know the third season is going to deliver. The first three episodes have definitely already done so!
With Bel-Air season 3 on Peacock, the streamer does have some other great shows to check out if you haven't given it a chance yet.

Mr. Throwback offers laughs with a talented cast of longtime comedians, real life celebrities, and actors. With stars like Adam Pally, Stephen Curry, and Ego Nwodim, Mr. Throwback has a little bit of everything. Mr. Throwback is a mockumentary about old friends, scams, basketball, and reliving the glory days.
Peacock's new mockumentary Mr. Throwback delivers quite a few laughs thanks to its deep cast of comedians and talented actors. Mr. Throwback is one of several new shows on Peacock. It follows the fictional Danny Grossman as he reconnects with the real-life basketball sensation Stephen Curry. Danny's penchant for lying and scams quickly complicates that reunion, and leads to a documentary about his life being made. That then creates a hilarious situation that makes Mr. Throwback one of the best shows on Peacock.
The trailer for Mr. Throwback only shows a glimpse of all the characters and jokes the show has in store.

If you are unaware that there is a quarterback named Jordan Love on the Green Bay Packers and another named Jalen Hurts on the Philadelphia Eagles, and that together their surnames comprise the title of (and the choral lyrics from) the 1976 power ballad version of “Love Hurts” by Nazareth, and that the two QBs will face each other on Friday, September 6 in a São Paulo, Brazil-based Week 1 NFL game exclusively on Peacock, you must not have streamed much of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
If you did, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. And you would be equally well-aware that NBA all-time great (and now gold-medalist!) Stephen Curry stars in new Peacock sitcom “Mr. Throwback” opposite Adam Pally.

Spoiler Alert: This article includes details about the season finale of “Mr. Throwback,” now streaming on Peacock.
Stephen Curry couldn’t have done better PR for his first TV show than his performance Thursday at the Paris Olympics. The four-time NBA champion put up 36 points, shooting nearly 70% from three-point range, to propel Team U.S.A. to a comeback win that has sent them to a gold medal match against France. Even sweeter for his collaborators on “Mr. Throwback,” the game occurred on the comedy series’ launch day on Peacock, which has been streaming wall-to-wall coverage of the Olympics.
“I like to think Stephen did that for us,” series executive producer and writer David Caspe half-jokes while speaking during a Zoom interview Thursday afternoon. “It’s launch day, and he said, ‘You know what? I’m gonna go get 36 points just to draw extra attention to our TV show.’ That was really his master plan.

Creative partners Adam Pally and David Caspe didn’t anticipate that the “third in the Pally-Caspe trilogy” would star one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

When Steph Curry Wanted to Become a Sitcom Star, the Minds Behind ‘Happy Endings’ Sprung Into Action
What do you do when one of the biggest sports stars on the planet asks you to write a role for him? If you’re David Caspe and Adam Pally, you think quickly.
The duo — who first worked together on the cult ABC sitcom “Happy Endings,” created by Caspe and starring Pally as Max Blum, a disheveled gay man making ends meet as an unlicensed limousine driver while mooching off his ensemble of Chicago friends — never expected to find themselves writing a mockmentary about Steph Curry. But when the Golden State Warriors star teamed up with his wife Ayesha Curry to host the game show “About Last Night” on what was then called HBO Max in 2022, their comedic fates changed forever.
Each episode of the show featured different celebrity couples answering embarrassing questions about each other, and both Pally and Caspe appeared as guests along with their respective partners. They...

Ego Nwodim, it seems, doesn’t need downtime. It’s a bit of a prerequisite for a Saturday Night Live player, but the comedian (who describes herself and her castmates as “junkies for chaos and unpredictability”) has a taste for creative stimulation. She booked her first lead role in a TV series — Peacock’s Mr. Throwback, also starring basketball great Stephen Curry, who plays a version of himself, and Adam Pally — and started filming two weeks before SNL even finished. Nwodim would wrap Saturday’s show, fly to the series’ Chicago set on Sunday, and then fly back to New York in time for the staff’s Tuesday late-night writing session. And no, she didn’t even skip SNL‘s afterparties. “I’m not a person who suffers from Fomo, but I was not going to not go to the party,” says Nwodim, known for such SNL characters as Lisa from Temecula.

As an athlete, Stephen Curry is, apparently, very good. As a TV producer, his track record is mixed, comprising both dizzying highs (I will never stop waiting for more Holey Moley) and shocking lows. As an actor, his talents probably hit their ceiling with his TV commercials for Subway or Cars.com, but when you’re rich and powerful, no one can really stop you from selling Peacock a mockumentary in which you play yourself, no matter how unimpressive you are in the role. Fortunately, Mr. Throwback is very good — so good, in fact, that my harshest criticism of this show about Steph Curry is that it apparently had to star Steph Curry.
The show’s Steph has a lot in common with the one we know: He’s a talented and dominant NBA player who grew up in Charlotte and whose father preceded him in the league; he has...

When Kobe Bryant returned to Philadelphia for his final game, one of the reporters at his press conference was Evan Monsky, Bryant’s former high school basketball teammate at Lower Merion. During the Q&a, Monsky asked Bryant to name the best point guard he ever played with and Bryant, without skipping a beat, saluted “Evan Monsky” as the best passer, before listing the Hall of Famers and All-Stars from his various NBA teams.
It was a good moment because it captured something extremely satisfying in dramatic terms: Every NBA superstar — every superstar in any sport — at some point in their life shared a roster with somebody who did not, in fact, become a superstar themselves. Somebody who may not have played college or even high school ball. That person went on to live a normal life filled with normal highs and lows and probably multiple times every year, that...

Happy Endings and The Mindy Project fan favorite Adam Pally credits a twist of fate for helping launch his new comedy mockumentary series Mr. Throwback on Peacock, co-starring NBA Golden State Warriors titan and Olympian Stephen Curry. In a recent MovieWeb interview, Pally said:
Steph's amazingly talented wife, Ayesha, had a show on HBO [About Last Night], and my wife and I were on it, and so was David Caspe and his wife, Casey Wilson [both of Happy Endings], a good friend of mine. Everyone just kind of hit it off in this very playful way, and the next day, their producer called us because I think they knew that we were looking for something to do together again. And they said, Do you have any ideas for a show? And we said, Give us a second.
The next call went to Happy Endings and Champaign Ill writers Matthew and Daniel Libman,...

“The only premise I could ever really give to people for this show is it’s like if Christopher Guest directed ‘Uncut Gems,’” Adam Pally says, previewing his new series “Mr. Throwback.” The mockumentary show does have a similar shape to Josh and Benny Safdie’s modern crime classic: a so-sad, so-fucked-up Jewish businessman takes on life-threatening mob debts and, in a shameless act of survivalist drive, dogs an NBA star and extracts money from him through a bombardment of white lies.
Only in “Mr. Throwback,” Pally’s character, Danny Grossman, is a former basketball prodigy, the “Jewish Jordan” that once went “100 and 100”. Stephen Curry was his back-up in middle school. But Danny’s career ended early after his alcoholic father and coach (Tracy Letts) is caught in an elaborate lie. Two decades and a failed marriage later, an in-debt Danny is forced to follow in his old man’s footsteps,...

Ego Nwodim thinks that her “Mr. Throwback” co-star and NBA champion Stephen “Steph” Curry has the chops to be a phenomenal “Saturday Night Live” host.
And the star would know. Nwodim has appeared on the sketch-comedy series since 2018 and became an official cast member in 2022. After six years, the comedian shared the secret to what makes a successful host.
“The thing about Steph that would be perfect for SNL – it’s not only that he is obviously this phenomenal athlete everyone knows and loves – he’s also down to play, and he’s also a fan of the show. All these things lend themselves to being a good ‘SNL’ host,” the veteran castmember told TheWrap. “If I have any say in it, Steph should come host, for sure.”
This fall “SNL” will enter its 50th season. Some fan-favorite cast members are already set to make their return: Maya Rudolph will...
