    A Great Canadian Movie

If you grew up listening to metal in the 80's this movie will feel like a blast from the past. Everything looks authentic for the time period. This entry feels different than FUBAR 1 and 2 but stays true to the cult classic Canadian humor it's known for. This is a prequel, an origin story for one of the greatest Canadian comedy characters of all time. The cast is a lineup of comedy legends. Will Sasso plays a very realistic 80's Dad, and it is hilarious! The soundtrack is filled to the brim with great 80's metal and rock. If your a Dokken fan your in for an absolute treat. All in all this is a great film and worth your time and money! So what are you waiting for? Go Give'r a watch!

    Deaner is back and deadly!!

Loved the two Fubar movies and loved this!! Nice cameos by Kids in the Hall's Kevin McDonald who plays a shop teacher, MadTV's Will Sasso who plays his dad and hockey coach and This Hour Has 22 Minute's Mary Walsh who plays Deaner's girlfriends mom who was in a punk rock band. Yes this may not be an intellectual masterpiece but it made me smile and laugh which is what the world needs more of. I especially loved the inclusion of old school rock/metal bands like Dokken, Judas Priest, Metallica, etc. And Dean meeting a member of Dokken as he was denied entrance into the concert venue. Reminded me of when Wayne & Garth going backstage to meet Alice Cooper & Aerosmith. Hopefully they continue to make these rock comedies in the tradition of Spinal Tap. Cheers and rock on deadly dudes!!

    Masterpiece!

Well, that was the best movie I've seen in a long time. I laughed my ass off. The characters were well developed. The humour was intelligent and relatable. I loved the sister and brother relationship. I had never seen the previous fubar movie before but i had an open mind when watching this film. It was so funny and laughed out loud a bunch of times. The music is soooo good. I think this is my new favorite movie and im going to say this is a Canadian Masterpiece. I really hope they make a sequel to this where Deaner lives in Calgary and starts a band or something. If you have time go do yourself a favour and watch this flick.

    Such a great film!!

What a great 80's style movie. This is exactly how good movies were made in the 80's and 90's. It's got such a feel good vibe and also is funny as hell. I will be watching this over and over for many years. If you're a fan of the original Fubar movie or 80's style films then this movie is for you. It's got lots of great Canadian humor and also that 80's rock n roll vibe. The casting is also pretty spot on and all the actors and actresses do a great job. It's been awhile since we've had a great Canadian made film that will become an instant classic and will bring new fans into the Fubar world. Turn up the good and turn down the sick!!! WHOO!! GIVER!!

    Deaner, Deaner, Deaner...

When I stumbled upon the 2024 movie "Deaner '89", by random chance here in 2024, I opted to watch it, since it was a movie that I hadn't already seen, nor actually heard about. And being a metalhead myself, then of course the storyline of the movie just had all the more appeal to lure me in.

And I will say that I was definitely entertained by the script and storyline that writer Paul Spence had come up with. It was a simple, yet straightforward, storyline that sort of had a make-you-feel-good vibe to it. And I couldn't help but have a chuckle along the way, especially because the Dean character was so over-the-top.

The only familiar faces on the screen for me was Stephen McHattie, Will Sasso, Kevin McDonald and Lauren Cochrane. The acting performances in the movie were good. And writer Paul Spence had come up with some good characters and dialogue.

"Deaner '89" is definitely a movie that I would recommend you to sit down and watch, especially if you enjoy the late 1980s era and have a fondness for metal. So sit down and raise the horns for Dean.

My rating of director Sam McGlynn's 2024 movie "Deaner '89" lands on a six out of ten stars.
