A decade into running Propagate Content, TV producer Ben Silverman, who has been behind hits like “The Office” and “Jane the Virgin,” is keenly aware of executives’ aversion to risks when greenlighting new projects, especially after his two-year stint as NBC’s co-chairman.
“There’s just so much fear among so many executives about taking risk and doing anything that just doesn’t have a massive star or a massive IP,” Silverman told TheWrap for this week’s Office with a View. “Talent is still just such a big driver of so much of what is selling, and then, as as always, high quality writers on the scripted side and high quality IP (intellectual property) on the non-scripted side.”
While Propagate is armed with big stars and strong IP across its upcoming series, including Peacock’s spinoff of “The Office” and Owen Wilson-led golf series “Stick,” Silverman noted the...

Netflix is adding over a dozen new titles to its inventory this week. From new seasons of current hits to topnotch sleeper movies, you can find something for everyone this week on your favorite streaming service.
No, there isn't anything coming this week that's likely to have the same impact as the number one show, Adolescence. By the way, it's every bit as good as the critics say it is. Okay, maybe one show will. But it really isn't likely that anything debuting this week will knock The Electric State out of its top spot among movies. I believe the critics are just as wrong about the sci-fi movie as they are right about the top-ranked drama.
But that's a discussion - or diatribe - for another time. For now, let's delve into the various worlds of zombies, hip-hop, reality shows, and comedy coming up this week. No, that's not all one show,...

The marriage of Fulwell 73 and SpringHill Co. is complete.
Fulwell Entertainment is the name of the overarching banner led by the Fulwell 73 partners – Ben Winston, Leo Pearlman, James Corden, Ben Turner and Gabe Turner — and Springhill’s Maverick Carter and LeBron James. Jesse Collins Entertainment is also under the umbrella; in 2022, Fulwell invested in the company led by the prolific TV event producer, who has juggled Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, BET Awards and a string of Super Bowl Halftime shows, including 2024’s outing with Usher and 2023’s memorable aerial stunt with Rihanna.
Ben Winston and Maverick Carter
Fulwell and SpringHill reached an agreement to join forces in a merger of equals in November. No money changed hands, but both sides brought in investment into to rev up the enlarged firm. A representative for Fulwell declined to comment on the deal closing.
The new partners previously named Carter and Pearlman as co-CEOs.

We expect to see the a lot of announcements, clips, images, and other goodies from the Netflix streaming service today, and the action begins with the unveiling of the streamer’s 2025 TV slate – which is previewed in the fun “You’re Not Ready” trailer embedded above. In this trailer, a Netflix subscriber finds herself taking a journey through some of the many TV shows coming to the streamer this year, including Squid Game season 3, Wednesday season 2, the Cobra Kai finale, The Witcher season 4, and Stranger Things season 5. Don’t expect to see much in the way of show footage in the trailer; this is just about the subscriber’s adventure. Netflix had the actress who stars in the ad do a lot of stuff for this 3 minute promo, but unfortunately they didn’t reveal her name, so I can’t credit her for her work.

Netflix has quite a large slate of new and returning series coming in 2025. The slate was previewed Wednesday at the streamer’s annual Next on Netflix event in Los Angeles, which was also streamed across the globe.
Some of the most anticipated projects include Stranger Things 5 and Wednesday Season 2, neither of which have premiere dates just yet. So far, Netflix has revealed a huge slate for February, as well as a smattering of series that are expected through August, but a large portion of the series the streamer says we’ll see this year haven’t been confirmed for a specific date yet.
Of the dates that were revealed, perhaps the biggest surprise is that the third and final season of Squid Game is coming sooner than audiences might have anticipated, premiering on June 27. June will also bring another season of Ginny & Georgia.

It's already been 15 years since the last Wolf Man remake hit theaters for Universal. 15 years in between the two iterations of the iconic werewolf is a long time, but it doesn't mean Universal hasn't been busy with its attempts at a larger pool of classic monster movie remakes. There were a couple of failed attempts, such as Dracula Untold in 2014 and The Mummy in 2017. However, The Wolfman from 2010 was also set to be a big part of Universal's plans. Needless to say, none of these films panned out in the long run. Since 2017, there have been a few changes to Universal's vision of a connected universe of classic monsters. Ultimately, the films have become more independent and completely re-imagined in the last few years.

The following contains spoilers for Wolf Man, in theaters now. It also contains descriptions of horror violence.
The Universal Monsters pantheon has undergone many transformations over the years, from the Dark Universe with Dracula Untold to a more official beginning with the ill-fated The Mummy reboot. However, where a planned universe of Universal's most beloved horrors failed, a new iteration of standalone films was successfully able to reinvent the established lore. Leigh Whannell's The Invisible Man modernized the classic film from 1933, and its success also opened the door to his next outing five years later, Wolf Man.

Ben Silverman has revealed that Netflix is exploring how the pair’s doc series Untold could be turned into an international franchise for the streamer.
The Propagate chief told an audience at Content London that discussions were taking place about making episodes of the anthology sports doc series under the Untold banner.
“That is something we’re exploring with Netflix,” he said. “The franchise helps with discovery and finding the content. It is a consistently super-high level of content around stories that people are leaning into, so there is an opportunity to bring that brand global in the Netflix ecosystem and have it play market-by-market with its own local focus.”
Propagate has overseen production on four seasons of Untold, with docs focusing on story subjects such as Caitlyn Jenner’s life and Olympic career and Hope Solo’s relationship with the U.S. soccer team. The most recent tranche, titled ‘Volume 4’, launched in August.

The south is just different.
IndieWire can exclusively debut the trailer for three-part Netflix documentary series “The Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Saga” from Maclain Way and Chapman Way, the brothers behind the Emmy-winning “Wild Wild Country” (about an Oregon cult leader) and Netflix’s excellent sports-docuseries “Untold” (watch the Danbury Thrashers episode!). The animating concept of Game 7, the anthology Prime Video docuseries from Words + Pictures, is right there in the title.
In a best-of-seven series to determine champions in the NHL, NBA and Major League Baseball, moments in the final game (whenever it occurs) are instantly memorable due to the intensely pressurized circumstances. The amorphous Universal Monsters franchise was cinema's original shared universe, and it led to several iconic takes on classic creatures. Turning Dracula, Frankenstein's monster and the Wolfman into household names, these movies are seen as the thematic ancestors of both modern horror movies and the cinematic universe trend. Sadly, this revered status has yet to be replicated, despite the competing Marvel Cinematic Universe making it look easy.
Universal has attempted to create the shared universe of its classic horror movies before, with this resulting in the dead-on-arrival Dark Universe. While the first attempt at making this work ultimately failed, there's still potential if the concepts are taken back to their roots. In fact, there are two directors in particular who might be able to pull it off more than anyone else: Nosferatu's Robert Eggers and upcoming Frankenstein director, Guillermo del Toro.

Season two premiered on Aug. 29 with three episodes, and Nielsen says about 70 percent of the show’s weekly total was for those three, with the remainder devoted to season one. (Viewing totals on the ratings service’s charts cover all episodes of a series.)
The 1.02 billion minutes is down about 19 percent from season one’s opening week (1.25 billion) in August 2022. The Rings of Power ranks third among Prime Video series U.S. opening weeks this year behind Fallout (2.9 billion minutes) and The Boys (1.19 billion...

Jake Paul has always been something of a villain. His internet fame exploded after he and his brother, Logan Paul, amassed millions of followers posting prank videos and parodies. Eventually the now 26-year-old would become one of the highest paid YouTube stars in the world.
“I remember when they made the word influencer,” Paul says in Episode 1 of Netflix’s documentary anthology series Untold. Titled Jake Paul the Problem Child, the film documents his transition from YouTuber to professional boxer. “That was us. They were talking about us.”
Untold pulls back the curtain on some of sports’ most infamous events, specifically highlighting athletes who face mounting shame and public scrutiny in the midst of competition, and Paul’s story certainly fits the bill. Today, he’s causing a stir in the boxing world as “The Problem Child,” and has quickly become an influential, yet polarizing, fighter. The latest installment of...

One of the NFL’s biggest names is getting the Netflix sports treatment.
Aaron Rodgers, a four-time league Mvp and quarterback of the New York Jets, will be the subject of a three-hour docuseries on the streamer. Aaron Rodgers: Enigma is set to premiere Dec. 17 — eight days before Netflix takes its biggest leap into live sports with two NFL games on Christmas Day (though neither one involves the Jets).
The Rodgers series is one of several sports projects Netflix announced Monday: It has also picked up a third season of Full Swing, which follows golfers on the PGA Tour, and ordered a new slate of documentaries under the Untold banner. Among the subjects for the latter in 2025 will be the notorious locker-room gun incident involving Washington Wizards players Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton; the beef and cheating accusations between chess grandmasters Hans Niemann and Magnus Carlsen; and a steroid scandal...

The documentary Untold: Hope Solo Vs. U.S. Soccer chronicled the rise and fall of Hope Solos legendary soccer career and what happened to her after it ended. Solos fall from grace has been well-documented, but Untold proved there was a lot more to her story.

The new episode of the weekly sports documentary series on Netflix, Untold, covers the story of one of Uswnt’s best goalkeepers ever, Hope Solo, who claims to have been bizarrely blackballed by her own federation. Once hailed as the best shot-stopper in international women’s soccer, several personal choices and a resolute determination to stand up against wrongdoing led to the athlete losing her spot in the limelight in a very unusual manner. While these claims are mostly made by Hope herself, Hope Solo vs. U.S. Soccer sets out to find out how and why the best goalkeeper in U.S. women’s soccer history had to retire without any celebration of her career.
How did Hope Solo earn her place in the Uswnt?

“Twisters” (Universal) wasn’t the biggest film of the summer. But it is becoming the comeback kid among the group, both theatrically and at home.
The tornado-focused special effects disaster film just had a very rare weekend in theaters. In its seventh weekend, losing 200 screens, its gross increased 17 percent. That comes in its third week at home on PVOD. And right at the same time, “Twisters” returned to #1 at iTunes, edging out the second weekend of “Inside Out 2” (Disney), 2024’s biggest hit.
The Pixar film retains its top spot at Fandango, with the advantage that its $24.99 rental cost gives it with that site listing by revenue earned, not transactions like iTunes does. In any event, the split decision this week continues a now multi-month trend of no film placing #1 at both for two consecutive weeks.

Netflix is back with another Untold story Untold: Sign Stealer which revolves around the University of Michigan football sign-stealing scandal, with Connor Stalions at the center of it all. Stalions had grown up being a fan of the Michigan Wolverines, and his dream was to one day be the head coach of the football team. Stalions finally made it to the sidelines in 2021 when he joined the coaching staff, but his dream of leading the Wolverines quickly came to a controversial end in November 2023 (as detailed in the Netflix sports documentary series).
Connor Stalions attended the U.S. Naval Academy (which is where he discovered how to decipher other teams' signals) and then joined the Marines after learning that many legendary football coaches are military veterans.
Stalions had a natural talent for sign-stealing, which the University of Michigan football team took advantage of to get an edge over its competitors.

Born and bred Michigan Wolverines superfan Connor Stalions always knew that he would coach his favorite team one day. Growing up, as he mapped out his career path, every decision he made was meant to lead him down a path like that of his idol, legendary former University of Michigan coach Bo Schembechler. Not long after Stalions finally made it to the University of Michigan sidelines, however, the team’s winning streak came under scrutiny due to allegations of sign stealing. By the time the Wolverines won the National Championship in January 2024 — for the first time since 1997 — evidence mounted against Stalions, and he was forced to step away from the team he loved.
“They dragged my name in the mud, they dragged Michigan’s name in the mud for months,” Stalions says in Untold: Sign Stealer about the controversy. “My whole life changed.”

But it was an absolute shock for the residents of Nashville and fans of the sport when McNair was found dead in a rented condominium in 2009. Although the police concluded their investigation and closed the case within a few days of the incident, The Murder of Air McNair presents a contradicting theory, which suggests that the authorities did not catch the main perpetrator.

Eminem’s The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) is officially the Number One album in the country, Billboard confirmed on Sunday, dethroning Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department after a 12-week reign atop the charts.
The album itself was met with mixed reviews, but clearly didn’t stop his fans from listening in. The Death of Slim Shady debuted with 281,000 units, according to Luminate. The record debuted with 220 million streams and another 114,000 digital downloads. It marks Eminem’s 11th album to top the Billboard Albums chart, the publication said.

Dracula Untold surprised audiences by finding success on Netflix despite its initial critical failure in 2014. The film offered a unique origin story for Dracula, blending historical details with fantastical elements. Despite the resurgence on Netflix, a sequel to Dracula Untold is unlikely due to middling box office and poor reviews.
Dracula Untold was critically panned when released in regular and IMAX cinemas during 2014s Halloween season. However, despite the movie's negative reception, it has experienced a revival with Dracula Untold finding a second life on Netflix. While this might seem like a surprise, given its critical standing, there is an explanation for the film's new-found success.
Dracula Untold was an early example of Universal trying to bring the appeal of cinematic universes to some of their most iconic characters. As such, the movie goes right back to the beginning of Dracula's story. In 15th-century Transylvania, Prince Vlad Dracula wrestles with a moral dilemma.
