Having not heard of this film prior and for good reason, which appears to be more of a passion project for Ike Barinholtz opposed to an actual Hollywood feature film. Starring Ike as the lead portraying a congressman of sorts with co-lead in Dylan O'Brien playing more of the comedic humor type.
This film feels entirely more of a sitcom or documentary with unrelated skits stretched together. The humor is entirely forced where the gags either go on for too long or are simply not funny.
And worst of all is that it's just not interesting. It has the feel of a behind the scenes news crew wandering around interviewing people given their opinions on politics. We don't exactly know the purpose and we simply don't care for the rest of these random characters.
Also this isn't even a lengthy film but after a while we are just waiting for it to end.
Sitting currently with a IMDB rating below 5 and well under 1000 votes. Which is somewhat surprising given the two lead actors but after watching this film it makes sense.
Maximum Truth is a painful dull watch and will be ultimately forgotten. And no, this will not be a cult classic in the future as one reviewer claims.

So I enjoyed this movie for what it was. It gave Season 1 of The Office (US) where it treaded the line of concerning content but some dry humor gave me some giggles. The content is kind of bland in that you weren't overly excited about anything that was happening but you were kind of entertained. Both of the main actors did a great job but Dylan O'Brien has my heart. Ike was definitely giving Michael Scott vibes while Dylan was giving Jim mixed with Dwight vibes. Is this a a slap your leg, pee your pants type of funny? No. Are you going to get the same laugh as a Seth Rogen or Will Ferrel movie? No. Is it going to give you a few giggles and leave you slightly satisfied? Yes. If you don't mind Season 1 of The Office, you will enjoy this.
I just watched this movie with my dad because we tend to enjoy guy humor movies, and this did not disappoint!
It was surprisingly hilarious considering the 4.6 star review, and the jokes landed 9/10 times, however, my biggest critique is that at times the jokes would go on a LOT longer than necessary. My best comparison for this movie would be The Office, so if you enjoy that kind of format in film, AND you enjoy that cringey, awkward, and just terrible guy humor, than you will definitely enjoy this movie!
The casting was also perfect! Ike and Dylan played their characters perfectly. Their acting was phenomenal, and you could clearly tell they really had fun with this movie.
Overall this movie is just a fun watch if you want a good laugh!

This weak kneed sack of corny, rated a lofty 5.9 stars at the time of this writing, was rated exactly 8 times to high!
Not only that, my friends, but the name is a misnomer as well. It should have been called "Maximum Steaming Pile" or at least subtitled as much.
All that said, this movie is the kind that if watched with while under the influence of some delish ediblies or at least a 3 blunt high, the rating would instantly vault into a perfect 10.
Not only that, but because you would not remember a single thing from watching it in that state, except that you laughed until your sides hurt, you would be inspired to watch it a second time!!!!
Yes, my friends, in very cloud there is a silver lining. . . .

I don't know why this movie only has 4.6 stars. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was absolutely hilarious. I laughed nonstop. Dylan O'Brien was the highlight for me. I haven't seen a single thing with him that I didn't like. I loved him in Teen Wolf, loved him in Caddo Lake, loved him in Saturday Night, loved him in Not Okay, loved him in The First Time, and loved him in Deepwater Horizon. I even liked Ike in this movie and he usually annoys me. Anyway, I highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes either of them or to anyone who just wants a good laugh. I'd give it 9/10. I will definitely watch it again.
