  • Subtle simple depressing drama with strong acting

Causeway is a rather smaller scale lower budget independent film. The subject matter is quite realistic and depressing to a degree. Starring Jennifer Lawrence in a rather subtle role about a scorned lost former soldier recovering from a terrible tragic accident causing loose screws on a tour a duty. The film starts from where she is at her home location and we see the struggle she deals with as she tries getting healthier and back to her normal frame of self and mind.

The entirety of the film isn't too interesting but has that independent atmosphere and feel about it. No twists or turns, just a depressing sympathetic drama. In the end, there's nothing that truly elevates the film.
