Sackboy: A Big Adventure

As someone who grew up playing the Little Big Planet games throughout my childhood, I was very excited when Sackboy: A Big Adventure was announced. After playing the game all the way through, I felt that it was fun but missing something. After playing the original Little Big Planet for a couple hours, it hit me. Yes the gameplay is good, but you had to pay in game currency (of which you could spend real world currency to acquire if obtaining it in game isn't your style) to get customization items for your Sackboy. What I'm trying to say is that this game is just going through the motions, it's missing the love, and child like wonder of the original Little Big Planet trilogy. It wasn't just a gigantic toy box for you to play in, I didn't spend hours trying to make the coolest costume before even jumping into the first level, and there is no hub world that you can customize for downtime between levels. Trying to see how much stickers you can put on the walls. It's a shell of what the original games were, with strong gameplay, but no substance.

Sackboy

I had a real blast playing this one. Sackboy features some excellent design and variety in the levels. New mechanics are introduced throughout the game to keep it fresh. And it offers a tough challenge in places, especially with the Knitted Knight Trials.

It has a beautiful art style, brilliant colours and loads of detail in the surfaces and stitching of all the different crafts. Quirky characters and humour keep the players interest.

One gripe would be that the boss battles are a little easy and uninspired.

Without playing any previous Little Big Planet game, I had no problem following or understanding this game and it's gameplay. This was so much fun. The first game I played on the PS5, and let me tell ya; what a experience! I mostly fell in love with the controller optics with this. Gameplay is great too, a must play for split screen enthusiasts.
