Via Flix Patrol, Beauty in Black ranks second on Netflix's Top 10 chart in the U.S., only trailing Mindy Kaling's new sports comedy series, Running Point. This news comes as Beauty in Black released its latest eight episodes on Mar. 6, continuing the show which began airing on Netflix last October.

Award-winning filmmaker Tyler Perry continues his knack for making thrillers as one of his upcoming projects lands a release window on Prime Video. Perry's next movie, Duplicity, shares its first trailer to build anticipation before its spring premiere.

Prime Video confirmed the R-rated Duplicity will debut on Mar. 20. The film is directed, written and executive produced by Perry and stars The Vampire Diaries actor Kat Graham, who portrayed Bonnie Bennett in the acclaimed supernatural teen drama. Graham stars alongside Batwoman's Meagan Tandy, The Oval's Joshua Adeyeye and Baggage Claim's Tyler Lepley. Perry produced the film alongside Angi Bones (Blade) and Will Areu (A Madea Family Funeral).

Via Variety, Netflix shared the first image from Madea's Destination Wedding, which sees Perry portray the eponymous Mabel "Madea" Simmons and her wisecracking brother, Joe Simmons. They have their bags packed for a trip alongside the rest of the family, which includes Cora (Tamela Mann), Mr. Brown (David Mann) and Aunt Bam (Cassi Davis).

Exclusive: NBC’s Chicago Fire has cast KaDee Strickland for a recurring role in Season 13. The new season begins Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on NBC and next day on Peacock.

She will portray Monica Pascal, the new Fire Chief Dom Pascal’s (Dermot Mulroney) estranged wife. As Deadline reported in July, Mulroney joined the popular firefighter drama as Boden’s (Eamonn Walker) successor following his exit as a series regular in the Season 12 finale.

Tyler Perry has signed a multi-year first-look deal with Netflix. The prolific filmmaker behind “Boo!: A Madea Halloween,” “For Colored Girls,” “The Family That Preys” and “Why Did I Get Married?” will write, direct and produce feature films for the streaming giant.

Perry’s upcoming Netflix originals include “Six Triple Eight,” with Kerry Washington heading up an ensemble flick about the first and only Women’s Army Corps unit of color to be stationed overseas during World War II. Perry’s upcoming “Mea Culpa” stars Kelly Rowland as a defense attorney who represents an artist accused of murdering his girlfriend.

Perry has already made several films for Netflix, including “A Jazzman’s Blues,” “A Fall from Grace” and “A Madea Homecoming.”

The latter was the 12th film featuring Perry’s marquee character. The fast-talking, zero-s–t-taking atheist grandmother — played by Perry himself — was first introduced onstage in “I Can Do Bad All By Myself...

September usually means the beginning of the traditional fall TV season. As such, Hulu’s list of new releases for September 2021 contains some impressive TV swings.

For starters, all of ABC and Fox’s (both now united under the Disney banner alongside Hulu) fall season offerings will be made available to stream on Hulu the next day. More impressively, however, two FX on Hulu originals make their way to the streaming world this month.

The first is the long-awaited adaptation of the classic comic Y: The Last Man. The story of a virus that destroys every mammal with a Y-chromosome (save for one escape artist and his monkey) is set to premiere on September 13. Shortly after that, the B.J. Novak-produced anthology series The Premise arrives on September 16. Even those who are fatigued from timely anthology concepts will want to check this one out.

Film aficionados will want to keep an eye on Amazon Prime Video in August, as the streaming giant is set to debut two Cannes Film Festival premieres: “Val,” a new documentary about Val Kilmer that uses archival footage shot by the actor himself, and “Annette,” Leos Carax award-winning musical (it won best director at Cannes) starring Adam Driver and Maron Cotillard and featuring music by Ron and Russell Mael of Sparks.

But beyond the Prime Video originals, the Amazon library content added to the service next month is vast and impressive. Exclusive: Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winning actor, writer, producer, activist and overall queen Taraji P. Henson has signed with M88. Henson will be repped by the entire M88 team, led by new partner Oronde Garrett and co-founder Phillip Sun.

Henson has an acting career that showcases both her range and personality. Most recently, she wrapped Empire where she played the memorable no-nonsense Cookie Lyon. The role earned her three Emmy nominations, a Golden Globe, a Critics’ Choice Award and three BET Awards.

In July, Henson’s production company Tph Entertainment signed a first-look deal with Twentieth Century Fox TV. The first project in development out of the gate is — you guessed it — a Cookie Lyon spinoff series. The agreement with Fox will also include other projects for multiple platforms.

Charles Gregory, an Emmy-nominated hairstylist who frequently collaborated with Tyler Perry on his films and TV shows, died of complications from Covid-19 on Wednesday.

Gregory shared on social media two weeks earlier that he had tested positive for the virus and was moved into the hospital. His death was mourned by filmmakers like Tyler Perry, Ava DuVernay and Lee Daniels, with whom he was most recently working on Daniels’ film “The United States Vs. Billie Holiday.”

Tyler Perry's She's Living My Life, starring Taraji P. Henson, will hit theaters March 30. It will open on Easter weekend, opposite the Warner Bros. sci-fi adaptation of Ready Player One, directed by Steven Spielberg, and Pure Flix's faith-based follow-up God's Not Dead 3.

The Tiff folks have unveiled their slated dozen features for their spanking brand new competitive section and they’ve managed to lasso some high profile world preems that will compete alongside Int. and Na premieres. Short film is part of network’s “Fright Night Files” anthology

Robin Givens is hooking up with TV One for a tale of deadly romance and family intrigue.

“Head of the Class” alum Givens will star in the upcoming TV One film “Mama’s Boy,” part of the network’s anthology series “Fright Night Files.”

“Fright Night Files,” which first aired as part of TV One’s Halloween movie offering last year, returns in March with three new short films that will offer “tales of horror, betrayal and love gone wrong,” according to the network.

The great thing about having The Walking Dead cast members stop by when you're not pressing them for spoilers is they're happy to tell you anything else you'd like to know. Case in point: Chad L. Coleman (Tyreese), who took our Pop Culture Personality Test and named the movie that scared him even though it wasn't supposed to (Shrek), the movie he wishes he could watch again for the first time (A Soldier's Story), and the movie he almost walked out of (Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys). 'No Good Deed' movie going unpunished to top weekend box office? For evidence of how bad working actresses have it in contemporary Hollywood, look no further than the cavalcade of talented female performers who have subjected themselves to toiling in the flat-footed melodramas of Tyler Perry; if Alfre Woodard, Kathy Bates and Sanaa Lathan (“The Family That Preys”), Thandie Newton and Gabrielle Union (“Good Deeds”) and Taraji P. Henson (“I Can Do Bad All By Myself”) aren't getting better offers than to star in Perry's hacky, retrograde, low-budget movies, times are tough indeed.
