Discovery channel has failed! Over and over again. Shark week doesn't need SciFi, joking celebrities or every episode about Great Whites (my favorite shark). It needs science, facts and information on as many sharks as feasible. The new standard for Shark Week...Nat Geo Shark Fest! Absolutely amazing, they focus on everything Discovery can't seem to.
This is "Whale Wars" for sharks. 60 min episodes that are dragged on and on with overhyped forced and phony drama of things that never materialize into anything entertaining.
They try to turn every moment into a big dramatic moment but never actually delivers. Whether it a shark about to bite, someone drowning etc nothing comes out of it. A big bore fest.

Watche a few of the shark week shows and they're the same trash as every, few shots telling the same facts and trying to add cliche danger into situations. I love sharks and want their conservation to happen but these shows don't help whatsoever.theyre just recycled borefests.
One this year was will smith who I thought was a pretty big pull, his hmm interesting kids were involved and they were actually pretty normal but this 55 min show had 3 mins of sharks in.
Rest of the time was will explaining an event that didn't happen ruined his life coupled with jaws, trying to make himself look super brave and inspiring. This guy has got so arrogant he's like a preacher, tells you his theory on fear, with millions in the bank sure you get lots of terror situations. He's lost all the spark that made him will. Dunno if it's his odd wife but this dude is insane, he's one of those hideous people that's tries so hard to be profound about everything in the aim to look impressive
There is a Will smith before the sharks and a will smith after the sharks... he said this... show sucked, was just trash

This should be made illegal. Such over hyped rubbish or even completely fabricated "facts" should be against the law.
I usually watch these episodes with the volume off and captions on as I get so sick of the yelling and high fives as if these people are at a sports match because a shark has appeared. Always some unknown "marine biologist" who overact with their 15 minutes of fame and sensationalize their shark research. The research they are conducting is usually something really ridiculous that I can't imagine any funding would sponsor. The shark pictures are great but the sompeople on these episodes and what they are trying to accomplish is just the stuff of nothing but show biz. I notice over the past few years the history channel has really gone down hill.
