Paul Verhoeven's sci-fi action cult classic Starship Troopers is now streaming for free on Pluto TV. The iconic film, based on Robert A. Heinlein's 1959 novel of the same name, debuted exactly twenty-seven years ago.
Written by Edward Neumeier and set in the 23rd century, Starship Troopers follows teenager Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien) and his comrades as they serve in the military of the United Citizen Federation, an Earth-based world government engaged in an interstellar war against an alien species known as the Arachnids. Dina Meyer, Denise Richards, Jake Busey, Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Muldoon, and Michael Ironside also star in the movie. Starship Troopers' development started in 1991 as Bug Hunt at Outpost 7, written by Neumeier. After noticing story similarities with Heinlein's novel, producer Jon Davison suggested converting the script into a version of Starship Troopers to garner greater interest from studio executives.

"Routine is key. Your head needs that. Three months is a long time." Gravitas has unveiled an official trailer for an indie thriller titled Outpost, marking the directorial debut of actor Joe Lo Truglio. He directed a few TV episodes for the shows he's been in, but this is his first feature film. It premiered at FrightFest last year, and opens in the US this May. Kate seeks recovery from a violent assault by taking a job as a "fire lookout", but becomes increasingly overwhelmed by her isolation and tragic past. A story about pain, what happens when you run from it, how it always catches up and controls what you see & hear. It commands what you do. If you don’t face your demons, they'll come to face you. Outpost stars Beth Dover, Ato Essandoh, Dylan Baker, Becky Ann Baker, Dallas Roberts, Ta'Rea Campbell, Tim Neff, and D.R. Anderson.

Quick Links How To Unlock The Outpost How To Use An Activation Slot
Burial Sites in Meet Your Maker can be claimed by players looking to make an Outpost, but these structures do not activate and appear in Raid Map searches until four requirements are met. All benefits and rewards given by player-created Outposts cannot be claimed until after the structures are activated, so players should try to meet all four goals soon to collect more earnings. Although players may have many claimed Sites in the game, only a few can be activated into fully designed Outposts.
The four criteria for activating an Outpost are for players to have a complete Harvester path, build a minimum amount of defenses, use at least some remaining GenMat, and keep an activation slot open. The unbalanced enjoyment of Meet Your Maker come from sharing custom Outposts that have been modified from existing Burial Sites.

The GenMat is close. You’ve run through a hallway of spike traps, flamethrowers and a holographic wall that concealed a pair of hulking brutes ready to chop you into bloody chunks. You carefully peak around corners, making sure the coast is clear, catching a last minute flying guard swooping down on you. As you approach your reward, you hear a familiar beep accompanied by a clattering of metal as bombs rain down on you from above. At the last second you grapple to safety, only to get skewered by a hail of arrows from a wall trap that you missed in the chaos. This is the experience you’ll have in the latest game from Behaviour Interactive, creators of the long-running multiplayer game Dead by Daylight.

The CW is parting ways with one of its summer series.
According to TV Line, The Outpost has been canceled after four seasons.
The last-ever episode is currently set to air on the network Thursday, October 7 at 9/8c.
Like many CW series, the on-air ratings have sagged considerably.
The show returned in July to 450,000 viewers and a 0.05 rating, and it has been staying around those numbers since.
As a co-production, the series was thought to have lasted this long because co-productions are typically cheaper to produce because of the different outlets involved.
The series “follows Talon, the lone survivor of a race called Blackbloods. Years after her entire village was destroyed by a gang of brutal mercenaries, Talon travels to a lawless fortress on the edge of the civilized world, as she tracks the killers of her family," according to the official logline.

Fox expanded its “Masked Singer” franchise with the debut of “The Masked Dancer” last night, as the spinoff continued the formats’ strong ratings trend.
The show’s premiere delivered a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49 and drew 4.8 million total viewers, which easily represented the top non-football programming of the night. That viewership figure is roughly on par with the “Masked Singer” episode from Dec. 9 (which was a series low for the original show), while the demo number is a little lower than the 1.7 that “Masked Singer” averaged in season 4. A 1.3 also represents the best series debut of the 2020-21 season so far, narrowly topping fellow Fox-Ken Jeong show “I Can See Your Voice” which premiered to a 1.2 in Sept.
Ice-t was the first celebrity dancer unmasked. The show is hosted by Craig Robinson and has Ken Jeong, Ashley Tisdale, Paula Abdul, and Brian Austin Green on its judging panel.

ABC’s lineup was up against a strong “Sunday Night Football” performance, which saw the game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears rustle up a 4.1 rating and 14.3 million averaged viewers for NBC in the fast nationals. Green Bay emerged comfortable winners in the game itself, as Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdowns in a 41-25 win.

ABC’s telecast of the annual American Music Awards on Sunday with Taraji P. Henson as host was the latest awards show that implemented socially distanced and Covid-friendly production parameters to deliver live performances. The ceremony even had a live, socially distanced masked audience watching from the rafters.
The result: the AMAs hit a new low with a 1.0 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 3.80 million viewers in early Nielsen Live+Same Day data, a seven-tenths drop from last year’s telecast on the same weekend (the 2019 show adjusted up to a 1.8 rating and 6.73 million viewers). America’s Funniest Home Videos, the lead-in to the AMAs, also took a hit compared with its last original.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” season 17 premiere heralded the return of Patrick Dempsey as Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd in an extended dream sequence.
Dempsey’s shocking appearance helped the ABC show top the Thursday night ratings charts, delivering a 1.3 average rating among adults 18-49 across its two-hour premiere and 5.7 million total viewers. While that was enough to see off the scripted competition, it does represent a slight 13% dip from the season 16 premiere. For further comparison, last season’s finale scored a 1.4 rating and 7.3 million viewers. Earlier on, fellow Shondaland drama “Station 19” premiere its fourth season even on the previous edition. The show scored a 1.1 rating and 6.3 million total viewers, beating the season 3 premiere by over 1 million pairs of eyeballs.
Fox technically won the night overall, thanks to “Thursday Night Football” which averaged a 2.1 rating and just under 8 million total viewers. The game itself saw the Indianapolis Colts easily defeat the Tennesse Titans...

With Warner Bros. vacating its August 12 worldwide release date for “Tenet,” we’re still many weeks away from any approximation of normal business. Meanwhile, the VOD world continues apace with Rod Lurie’s Afghanistan war-set “The Outpost” leading the way. Now in its third week, the Screen Media title remains at #1 at Apple and Spectrum.
Perhaps even more impressive: “Outpost” is #2 at FandangoNow, which ranks by revenue — and Lurie’s film has a non-premium price of $6.99. Even outside a theater, some of its truisms remain — never underestimate the appeal of a military-themed film. In first place at FandangoNow was “Trolls World Tour,” which recently reduced its price from $19.99 to $5.99.
Among other recent premium VOD titles, the best showing this week is “The King of Staten Island” at #2 at Amazon Prime. However, there’s a growing trend for some more specialized titles to pop up. “John Lewis: Good Trouble,” the acclaimed documentary about the late Rep.

“The gates of Heaven and the gates of hell are claimed to be in the same spot. During the firefight, Cop Keating was like the gates of hell: violent, bloody, and full of sorrow. However, watching men sacrificing themselves to protect each other, I could see the true form of brotherhood and love, making the firefight at Cop Keating like the gates of heaven as well.”

With social distancing requirements apt to give a boost to virtual reality, especially in public places like theme parks, Lucasfilm and Oculus Vr specialists are joining forces for a new Star Wars attraction.
Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is an original story that will include multiple styles of gameplay and difficulty settings, according to a blog post announcing the venture. The objective will be to bring in a wide variety of players when the experience is released later this year.
Developing the experience are ILMxLAB, the Lucasfilm group dedicated to “immersive entertainment,” and Oculus, which Facebook has owned since 2014. Disney hopes to reopen its U.S. parks in phases over the summer after months of closures due to Covid-19.

The CW released its fall schedule Thursday, and the only thing staying put from last year’s lineup is “Supernatural” Thursdays.
The rest of what would have been the network’s regular schedule was reshuffled due to production delays caused by the pandemic, which means that all the shows that would normally return this fall have been pushed to January.
Series premieres of new shows “Superman & Lois,” “Walker” are being saved for early next year. In their place will be a mix of original and recently acquired programming from streaming services, including first-time broadcast TV airings of DC Univers’s “Swamp Thing” in the primetime Tuesday slot followed by CBS All Access’s “Tell Me a Story” at 9 p.m.

The CW won’t be debuting any new original scripted shows in fall 2020.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus-related production shutdown, the network is holding nearly all of its original scripted fare for January 2021. In announcing its 2020-2021 schedule on Wednesday, however, the network did say that it would air the series finale of “Supernatural” this fall. The show was due to wrap up this spring after a 15-season run, but the final episodes were unable to complete filming before production was shutdown by the pandemic.
The CW will instead air a number of acquired shows and unscripted shows this fall. In addition to shows like “Masters of Illusion,” “Whose Line Is It Anyway?,” “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” and “World’s Funniest Animals,” the network announced earlier this week that it had acquired the shows “Swamp Thing,” “Tell Me a Story,” “Coroner,” and “Dead Pixels,” all of which will run this fall.

Updated with final numbers: CBS’ Big Brother topped a Thursday again littered with NFL preseason preemptions, coming away as the night’s top-rated and most-watched program with a 1.2 rating and 4.36 million viewers. The show saw only a tenth of a point shaved from its NFL-inflated preliminary numbers, which were adjusted down by a tenth or two for every show in primetime in final numbers. Its final results Thursday were up in both metrics compared with last week.
All those downward adjustments included Fox’s coverage of the Jacksonville-Miami preseason game in primetime, keeping MasterChef on the sidelines but giving the network the overall demo win. The game tipped ABC’s Holey Moley for the top spot among originals in the 8 Pm hour, with the mini-golf competition airing its first-season finale at 9 Pm. That latter rating is on par with last week’s performance. Reef Break...

Orange Is the New Black takes more than a few painfully real twists in its final season. While they can be difficult to watch, Beth Dover, who plays Linda Ferguson, says they were just as difficult to shoot. In between practicing her catwalk for New York Fashion Week and preparing for her leading role in her husband Joe Lo Truglio's upcoming horror film Outpost, Dover hopped on the phone to talk to us about what it was like to play one of the most notable villains on a show that addresses so many relevant political and cultural issues. "It's a good reminder that villains don't always have to be super scary-looking to be effective," Dover said.
While Linda might not seem like she's pure evil at first glance, with her perfectly coiffed hair and put-together skirt suits, that all changes the minute she opens her mouth. From excitedly showing...

I’m not sure if I should be surprised or not but there seems to be quite a few World War II zombie movies, or movies that can kind of be linked to World War 2 and the undead – there’s definitely enough for it to be called a sub genre on its own. So Soldier of War (aka Aux) can be added to Dead Snow, Overlord, Outpost, Frankenstein’s Army and a myriad more.
Soldier of War is a British film and it, like many of its kind, feels very British. From the police uniforms to the woodland and countryside to the accents; it will be very familiar to people from the U.K. and horror fans...

Chicago – In the history of “Reality TV” there has been periods of up-and-down popularity, shows that have been around seemingly forever and spinoffs to new styles like “documentary series” as networks like the National Geographic Channel emerged. In all those permutations, producer Stephanie Buxbaum has experienced it all, and has the career and stories to prove it.
Buxbaum began her career as a performer, transferring from classical acting training to the nuts-and-bolts of the show business industry through the University of Southern California. After graduation, she worked in musical theater, but always was challenging herself by learning other dynamics of the film and television business. This led to an associate producer gig on “Big Brother” in 2000, which began her (as she calls it) “unscripted TV show” career.

The last decade has seen a surge of “Nazi horror” movies that struck enough of a chord to kick-start a subgenre. Most are risible and bypassed big screens to debut on DVD, prior to perishing in pound store video bins, but there are a few gems amongst the twaddle. Dead Snow 2: Red Vs Dead is a subgenre standout and one of a small fistful to feature the Nazi undead. Along with the lesser likes of War of the Dead, Frankenstein’s Army and Outpost, these utilised our fear/hatred of Nazism to shape a new supernatural antagonist.
Overlord is the latest Nazi horror and one of very few to make it into cinemas. Following his impressive, criminally under-seen debut Son of a Gun, director Julius Avery, with screenwriters Billy Ray, Mark L Smith and producer Jj Abrams give Nazi horror a bigger budget/ creative bolstering with enthralling results; for Overlord is a frenzied,...
