Unathi is alone at home getting ready for work at the Satisfaction, reflecting on how life has been since Andile and Viwe left for Jozi. There have been changes, yet much remains the same in the small town of Lubusi. As the day progresses a terrible discovery is made that affects nearly every one in the town. Unathi is left with an awful sense of guilt, and she has to work out what happened and why, and in the end has to acknowledge how far her responsibility for someone else's life goes.

The gorgeous and tomboyish Zukiswa is outwardly confident, sure of her ability to entice men and control them, while hiding how having to look after her alcoholic mother has shaped her life. She doesn't waste any time in letting the town know that she likes to have a good time on her terms. Lwazi returns for a visit, outwardly successful with a degree in engineering and a good job in Cape Town. The unusually hip and good looking Pastor, Lungi, is new in town, and unleashes a storm of gossip and excitement. And other exciting new developments in the town are happening too.

Orphaned Nobuntu is now six months pregnant and feels like life is leaving her behind. She has to cope with the grinding daily struggle to survive as she also has her two younger brothers to look after. The rest of Lubusi is buzzing with the excitement of the new development which offers opportunity and jobs for many. The support group, and especially Tyson, see that Nobuntu needs help and have to work out how to give this to her. Lungi is already finding that the more conservative members of his church have different ideas about how a Pastor is supposed to behave. Lwazi and Zukiswa seem to have lots in common.

Lwazi seems to have everything going for him, and is enjoying the attention he is getting from everyone in town, especially Zukiswa. He is hiding something. When his aunt organizes a lavish umsebenzi for him the truth comes out. Nobuntu thinks Loyiso is working part time at a local shop, but is horrified to find out that he has fallen in with the local drug dealers, and is working for them. Mimi tries to start up the dance class again.

Nobuntu has to work out how to let Loyiso be a child again, and Lungi gives her good advice. Mimi shows her good heart and lets Nobuntu work at the Salon, which is getting very busy as the development has created many jobs and people have money to spend. Lwazi finds out that he is yesterday's hero as many see him as a fraud. He starts finding other ways to cope with his sense of failure that upset his aunt. Lungi realizes that it's easier to help one child than a whole town.

Lwazi is troubled by ugly memories that he has buried deeply. The dance class seems to be taking off again, and new partnerships are forming as unlikely people begin to dance together. Zukiswa seems to be setting her sights on the new Pastor, and this is too much for some. Nobuntu has been braiding the hair of some of the customers at Mimi's and when no-one wants her to work on them anymore she thinks it is because of her HIV status. Lwazi learns an important lesson in how to take responsibility for his behaviour as he learns more about his past.

Everyone in town is shocked when a surprise from Lungi's past turns up. He has to admit to his own failings as a man and as a father and many feel that he has been putting on a false front. Many start to question him and what he has done and he has to work out a way to let the town know that he is serious about his ideals. Nobuntu still has many trials to overcome, but is learning in many small ways that there are ways to get help, and that all she has to do is ask.

Zukiswa's mother doesn't seem to care that her drinking is affecting everyone around her. She is in danger of losing her teaching job, and Zukiswa is overwhelmed by having to take care of her mother. It is a small step, but she has to start realising that her life cannot be overshadowed by her mother's pain and her absent father. Nobuntu is starting to feel desperate as the time for the birth draws nearer and she still doesn't feel ready to cope with it all. She has to learn that all she has to do is ask for help. Tyson is proving to be a steady and supportive friend. Mimi helps Lwazi get a better job, and now he has the opportunity to prove himself to everyone.

Zukiswa is horrified to find out that she might have exposed herself to infection when one of her casual flings turns out to be HIV positive. She is put on the spot by others as it is pointed out to her that it might be her behaviour that puts her at risk. Mike betrays Sis Wawi and she finds out, they both learn how fragile a marriage partnership can be. Lungi is trying to start a "Know your Status Campaign" and shocks some of the older church members. He also learns that just by simply being there for someone can be the best way to help.

Zukiswa gets good news, but her whole world is shattered when she discovers that her father has been living just across Lubusi her entire life. She cannot forgive her mother and moves out. Things aren't running so smoothly with the development as Lwazi has to learn to do his job, the investors have to spend more money on their investment as cash flow problems threaten the project.

Ma Bandla's job is at risk as she plunges even deeper into drinking to forget her pain. Zukiswa wants to help but doesn't know what to do. She turns to the man who once loved her mother, even if he didn't know there had been a child, and asks for help. His cruel rejection sends her into a downward spiral and she makes a very foolish choice. The workers on the development are becoming angry as they are told there is no money for them at weeks end. Lwazi feels torn as he also has questions that aren't getting answered, but he wants to do his job well and regain some of the respect he has lost.

Unathi is horrified to find that Nobuntu's sugar daddy, Frank is back. He is making promises and Nobuntu is torn about accepting the life he is offering or trying to do it on her own. Zukiswa tries to help Mike at the Satisfaction by putting on a big event, and things go horribly wrong. People are angry at the way things are going with the development, and feel that the investors do not care how this is affecting everyone. Sis Wawi is tired of Mike not owning up to what he has done and threatens to leave.

Mike is furious at Zukiswa and fires her. She feels alone in the world, and no-one seems willing or able to help her. The workers on the development want answers and begin to protest against Mthunzi and the investors. Lwazi is torn between wanting to get the job done and also having many questions of his own about what is going on. Lungi has to decide whether he will ask for joint custody for his son in the divorce settlement, but also has a difficult decision to make as Lubusi seems on the verge of erupting into something ugly. Mthunzi puts him on the spot and asks him to stay to help with a meeting so that the investors can explain what is going on. Zukiswa runs out of options and turns to the worst possible person to help her.
