GTA 1997 was a boring, 1 minute game. After you played this "app game" for 1 minute that was it. All you did was drive and run pixels over. Ok...
The camera angle was a joke. The ant motion was hilarious.
GTA 1997 was hash. Fortunately, though, GTA 4/5 came out of it. Like the saying "1st you don't succeed, try again".
It's also most fun to defect from your current gang and just kill 'em all off. This is one game that makes it look like so much to actually run people over.
It's a pity that only the Playstation version doubles as a soundtrack CD but I gotta admit that is one cool radio station. These songs are rockin'. This is rather good considering it's only a game.
The graphics are kind of poor tho and the gameplay doesn't change much from level to level but who cares?!?!
One of the key features of Grand Theft Auto is its open world, giving players unlimited freedom of action. The city in which the action takes place has several levels, each of which has its own unique features and atmosphere. The player can freely move around the city, explore its streets, steal cars and complete various tasks. The ability to choose between law-abiding missions and criminal actions has become the main feature of the game, creating the impression that the city lives its own life and reacts to the player's actions.
The gameplay of "GTA" consists of performing diverse missions, which include tasks such as robberies, destruction of targets and transportation. These missions offer different levels of difficulty, but the overall mechanics of the game are quite simple and intuitive. The control of cars and foot traffic is made taking into account the capabilities of that time and the platforms on which the game was released, which makes the process of moving around the city enjoyable and exciting.
Graphically, "Grand Theft Auto" does not stand out for any special achievements. The top view and the relatively simple graphics typical of games from the late 1990s make its appearance somewhat outdated, by modern standards even more so. Nevertheless, for its time, the game was visually appealing and conveyed the atmosphere of urban chaos and criminal life. The soundtrack was also on the level: simple but memorable tracks and sound effects that complement the atmosphere of the game.
The concept of freedom of action embedded in GTA was truly revolutionary and had a huge impact on subsequent games in the genre. Being able to behave in any way, from obeying the law to committing crimes, was a new and exciting experience for the players of that time. This freedom allowed players to choose their own style of play and interact with the world the way they wanted, which became a hallmark of the series as a whole.
However, despite its innovative ideas, Grand Theft Auto was not without its drawbacks. Some aspects of the controls and gameplay were raw and needed to be refined. In addition, the lack of a full-fledged plot and in-depth character development could disappoint those who expected a more meaningful gameplay.
Anyway, "Grand Theft Auto" was a significant step forward for the gaming world and laid the foundations for one of the most popular and influential series in the history of video games. Despite the technical limitations of its time, the game provided a unique open-world experience and freedom of action that captivated many players and inspired developers to create more complex and rich games in the future. For its time, Grand Theft Auto was a worthy and innovative game that left its mark on the history of the industry.
6 out of 10.
My evaluation: 7 out of 10

- TriviaThe three cities featured in the game are Liberty City (based on New York City), San Andreas (based on San Francisco) and Vice City (based on Miami). From Grand Theft Auto III (2001) onwards, each game was set in a redesigned version of one of these cities (though San Andreas was expanded into a state with three cities separated by countryside).
