I remember when this was advertised and reviewed that this was a massive RPG with time travel elements. Many stores were sold out of it and the price of the game was pricey. Thankfully I got it as part of a two disc set for Playstation called Final Fantasy Anthology featuring Final Fantasy IV (released as Final Fantasy II for the US release) and Chrono Trigger, in 2001 a year after Chrono Cross became the best selling title in the franchise. Despite the long loading times and frequent fmv cutscenes that looks like something out of an anime, this game has great music, good controls, amazing graphics for the time, and challenging gameplay. The story is pretty simple and there are multiple endings to the game, sorta like before the Witcher changed everything about endings. You can also download the rom if you own the game at your own risk!!!
This game deserves the name CLASSIC. Made by "the dream team" of Yuji Hori("Dragon Quest"), Hironobu Sakaguchi("Final Fantasy"), and Akira Toriyama(TV's "Dragonball Z"), this game immediately climbed the top and was loved by millions. Even if the graphics were outdated, the game took 3 years to make and a lot of effort was put into it.
This game is honestly legendary....a game with really great and memorable characters that are very well written and very well developed, the story is just amazing...possibly the greatest time travelling story I have ever experienced. People of imdb, thank you so much, the fact that this game is still at a rating of 9.5 really says a lot...if I had never read these reviews I wouldve never known or even tried the game...so again...thank you.
Chrono Trigger... The best RPG (second to Final Fantasy III) for
the Super Nintendo. Nothing is as challenging, thought-provoking... and fun than this little devil from the gods of RPG, Squaresoft. The storyline is impressive and heart-gripping, the masterful art design of Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball fame astounding and the uniqueness of battle that seems to be in place.
My favorite attacks, Dual Tech. This attack is very powerful and eye-catching and adds a hint of greatness in battle. Example: Falcon Toss. Ayla tosses Crono (The hero) up and Crono slashes his sword (kamehameha style) to his enemies. Then there's Tech attacks, like Robo's Robo Tackle or Frog's Leap Slash. That's pretty darn good in attacks and stuff.
The music is heartwrenching and superb too.
Chrono Trigger will live in the minds of players and DB watchers alike. I can't wait until Chrono Trigger is re released on Playstation, Reason: NEW FMV CUT SCENES, made by Akira Toriyama and his creative crew at Bird Studios. Until then... Play some more Final Fantasy VIII.

Play it if you haven't. If you haven't played then you are missing the single best game ever made. After all, a dream-team game between the Dragon Warrior(Quest) people and the Final Fantasy people would have to hold the title of "BEST GAME EVER CREATED".

- TriviaMagus's three generals, Ozzie, Slash, and Flea, are named after famous musicians: Ozzy Osbourne, former lead singer for Black Sabbath; Slash, guitarist for Guns n' Roses; and Flea, bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
- GoofsThe cover art of the box art for the USA Super Nintendo version shows Marle casting a Fire spell, but she cannot do this as only Lucca as that ability. Marle can only cast Ice spells.
- Quotes
Magus: If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh.
- Crazy creditsIn addition to the two main endings, of which there are two versions, depending on whether you attacked Lavos with the Epoch or not, there are also ten additional endings, most of them light and goofy, that can be accessed by the bucket in the End of Time or Lucca's Telepod, at various points during the game. However, since Lavos is incredibly hard, you should only attempt this with the New Game+ option, after you have beaten the game.
- Alternate versionsIn late 2008 a version was released on the Nintendo DS that featured new animated clips in the game and some changes in the story.
