Clint Eastwood, ever heard of him? Of course you have … though maybe not around these parts. Whether he’s on screen, behind the camera, or, hell, even both, the two-time Oscar winner is best known for grounded dramas, cutting-edge westerns, crime thrillers, left-of-the-dial comedies, biopics, and the list goes on. But Horror? Short of his bit parts in The Witches and Revenge of the Creature, you’d have to bend the tenets of the genre to make it work.
The most malleable of his films to the Horror genre is his directorial debut: 1971’s Play Misty for Me. Written by Jo Heims and Dean Riesner, the taut thriller pre-dates the “-from hell” subgenre (think: Fatal Attraction) by nearly two decades. It’s also a better movie than most of them. Eastwood not only proves to be the lean and mean director we know and respect today from the get-go, but...

Jon Hamm is known mainly as a TV actor. He has been nominated for multiple Emmys, mostly for playing the lead role of Don Draper in the hit series Mad Men. Despite all of his nominations, he only ever won an Emmy once for the role. Nonetheless, Hamm has continued to be a prominent actor in the television sector, being nominated for Emmys twice in 2024 for his parts in The Morning Show and Fargo. Most recently, Hamm played a significant role in the popular Taylor Sheridan show Landman.
Though his focus has been TV, Hamm is also known for a number of film roles. He made his film debut in a tiny role in the Clint Eastwood film Space Cowboys, before going back into a TV streak once again. Some of his other notable film roles, however, include The Town, Million Dollar Arm, and Tag, all of which feature Hamm...

Courtney B. Vance is taking up the mantle of Zeus following the death of Lance Reddick. The “Grotesquerie” and “American Crime Story” star has joined Season 2 of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.”
“Finding someone to step into this role going forward was not an easy task, but when icon Courtney B. Vance answered the call, we knew the Gods were listening,” executive producer Dan Shotz wrote in a post on the Disney+ original’s Instagram page. “This legend of cinema not only wanted to honor the books, but wanted to honor Lance’s legacy. We can’t wait for you all to see him take the throne.”
Reddick, who is best known for his work in “John Wick,” “Fringe” and “The Wire,” died in March 2023 at the age of 60. At the time of his death, a spokesperson said the actor died of natural causes.

Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 arrives in cinemas this weekend – but Warner Bros has hardly come out swinging in support of the film. Why?
When the first batch of reviews for Clint Eastwood’s newest movie landed over the weekend, I must confess I feared the worst a little. The film in question, Juror #2, has been the subject of much interest over the past few weeks, with the movie itself almost at the side of the conversation.
Instead, the focus has been how Warner Bros has been dealing with the latest – possibly final – film from its longest-serving director. The list of hits that Eastwood has delivered for the studio kicked off with the Dirty Harry films. Then, as a director, he’s economically made successes such as Unforgiven, Space Cowboys, Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Gran Torino, American Sniper, Sully, The Mule… it’s quite a list.

Imagine Mad Men without Jon Hamm’s brooding Don Draper—impossible, right? Well, it nearly happened. And oddly enough, his devastatingly good looks were the problem. Studio execs fretted that Hamm might be too handsome for viewers to buy him as the complex, troubled ad man, fearing his charm could overshadow the gritty 1960s narrative.

As if that weren’t enough, The Sopranos icon James Gandolfini almost sealed the show’s fate before it aired, as his powerhouse performance left everyone questioning if another morally gray lead could ever work. The combo of Hamm’s looks and Gandolfini’s shadow nearly killed the series, but luckily, Mad Men managed to break through—proving that charm, danger, and a killer suit could redefine TV drama.

With a storied and legendary career that has spanned over six decades, Clint Eastwood has earned his status as one of the icons of Hollywood cinema. At the start, a mysterious gunslinger, acting in spaghetti Westerns, to starring and directing in some of the most critically acclaimed films in recent memory. Whether in front or behind the camera, Eastwood has gone on to define and elevate not just specific genres but the whole film industry as a whole.
Some of Clint Eastwood's best films, such as his work in The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, and Gran Torino, explore complex and dark characters while anchoring them in situations and various actions that place them in layered moral dilemmas. It's this nuance and creativity that makes so many of Eastwood's career-defining films better the second time around, and why he has gone on to progress and define so many genres in his iconic filmography.

Clint Eastwood's Hollywood career officially began in 1955 when he made a brief, uncredited appearance as a lab technician in Jack Arnold's "Revenge of the Creature." Nine years later, unhappy as a midlevel television star on the CBS Western series "Rawhide," he jetted off to Spain to make a different kind of Western with a very different kind of director named Sergio Leone. The result, "A Fistful of Dollars," changed the face of the genre forever, and set Eastwood down the path to becoming a filmmaker in his own right.
Eastwood's directing career got off to a curiously assured start with the wildly suspenseful thriller "Play Misty for Me," in which the tough, swaggering star of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Dirty Harry" played a victimized Bay Area disc jockey. No one expected this from Eastwood, and it's fair to say no one saw this hugely...

Starfield players are known for constructing some incredible ships but this fan managed to create one that will make budding Space Cowboys incredibly jealous. While players are largely divided on Starfield's mechanical gameplay, building ships always stands out as a point of praise given the robust nature of the modular system. It may initially appear limiting due to the interlocking nature of the pieces, but with the help of a handful of mods and some creativity, it's possible to recreate some of pop culture's most iconic ships.

Legendary Canadian actor Donald Sutherland, who died on Thursday after a long illness and a celebrated Hollywood film and TV career, revealed why he never sought dual Canadian and U.S. citizenship by acquiring an American passport.
“Because we don’t have the same sense of humor. It’s true. We don’t. I’m a Canadian through and through,” Sutherland told the CBC radio show Q with Tom Power in March during one of his last media interviews.
Sutherland, who had been living in recent years in Quebec, around 12 miles from the U.S. border, recalled giving that answer to an American border guard who asked why the Canadian actor, who already had a green card to work stateside, didn’t get an American passport to more quickly cross the border to complete errands.

We're very sad to report that Donald Sutherland has passed away at the age of 88 after a long illness.
Sutherland appeared in countless movies and TV shows over the course of his six-decade career, taking on a wide range of roles. Early standouts include Pvt. Vernon Pinkley in The Dirty Dozen (1967), Benjamin Franklin “Hawkeye” Pierce in M*A*S*H (1970), hippie tank commander Sgt. Oddball in Kelly’s Heroes (1970), and the titular private eye in Alan J. Pakula’s Klute (1971).
Though he often played heroic characters, Sutherland also brought life to his share of villains, including a ruthless Nazi spy in Eye of the Needle (1981), and President Snow in the Hunger Games movies. He is also known for his devastating turn as a grieving father in Nicholas Roeg's sinister horror/thriller Don't Look Now (1973), which featured an infamously graphic (for its time) sex scene with Julie Christie.
The prolific actor's résumé also includes:...

Beyoncé looked to fellow cultural titans to lasso inspiration for her new album “Cowboy Carter.”

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter was created over the past five years. During that span of time, the world was upended by a global pandemic and social strife; Martin Scorsese grappled with the blood on the hands of American history with Killers of the Flower Moon; and Beyoncé brought diamonds and disco to the dance floor on Renaissance. All these vastly different occurrences are components that informed the creation, imagery, and release of Beyoncé’s first-ever country album.

Taylor Swift might have been (mostly) all anyone could talk about for this year's Super Bowl, but the new trailer for David Leitch's The Fall Guy, which stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt certainly wasn't about to… I'm sorry, we're being told there is a Swiftie joke in here. But it works! Check out the new trailer:
Yes, with this latest promo for the action comedy promising everything you could wish for (Burritos! Space Cowboys! Twisted Metal! Cardio?) there is yet another chance for Gosling to undercut his brooding macho image with some emotion. Wonder if they played "I'm Just Ken" on set?
As for the film, which channels the 1980s Lee Majors TV series for a story of Gosling's stuntman roped in to investigate when the star he usually doubles for goes missing – putting the movie being directed by old flame Emily Blunt at risk – it looks like a whole lot of fun,...

A native of South Africa, Senior joined Warner Bros. in 1970 after an eight-year run at MGM, where he was an advertising and publicity consultant in its European Regional Office, and he stuck with the studio through 2000.

“He taught me how publicity, advertising and marketing operates,” Senior once said of Kubrick.

Astronaut Chris Hadfield criticizes Clint Eastwood's film Space Cowboys for its inaccurate portrayal of astronaut training. The centrifuge scene in the movie fails to accurately depict the speed and effects of G-force, and the astronauts' reactions are unrealistic. The age and rapid training of the astronauts in the film are also unrealistic, as real astronauts are selected and trained in their prime years and undergo a lengthy process.
Clint Eastwood's Space Cowboys gets criticized by astronaut Chris Hadfield who jokes, "We are definitely not cowboys." Featuring the all-star cast of Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland, and James Garner, the film follows four former test pilots who are recruited by NASA and sent into space to repair a Soviet satellite. The adventure drama, which was also directed by Eastwood, doubled its $60 million budget at the box office and was a critical success because of its stars and spectacular special effects.

Cry Macho had a 33-year wait before Clint Eastwood finally made the film, which went through a tumultuous development process and was released during the ongoing pandemic. Eastwood delayed making Cry Macho in 1988 to star in The Dead Pool instead, believing himself too young for the lead role at the time. This decision resulted in the film being stuck in development limbo. Cry Macho's box office failure could be attributed to its pandemic release and a shift in audience interest away from Westerns. The film may have had a better reception if it had been made in 1988 when Westerns were more popular and Eastwood was at the height of his stardom.

The live-action Lilo & Stitch remake casts an award-winning actor to play Cobra Bubbles. Released in 2002, the animated Disney movie charts the heartwarming friendship between a rambunctious but lonely Hawaiian girl, Lilo, and a blue koala-like alien named Stitch who is genetically engineered to cause chaos and destruction. In the animated Lilo & Stitch, the character of Cobra Bubbles (voiced by Ving Rhames) is a CIA agent working undercover as a social worker for Lilo after her parents died in a car crash.

Vance has been cast as Cobra Bubbles. The actor is a two-time Emmy Award winner for his performances in The People v. O.J. Courtney B. Vance has joined the cast of Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch as Cobra Bubbles, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Disney declined to comment.
Vance joins previously announced castmembers Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Nani and Kahiau Machado as David Kawena. Zach Galifianakis joined the cast in February. Stitch, naturally, will be a CG confection. Dean Fleischer Camp, the filmmaker behind indie darling and best animated feature Oscar nominee Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, is directing the remake that is intended to be a major release on Disney+.
The Hawaii-centric story tells of the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who was genetically engineered to be a force of destruction. This year marked the 30th anniversary of Best Picture winner Unforgiven, one of Clint Eastwood's most acclaimed movies. It stands alongside other highlights from Eastwood's legendary career, including The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Dirty Harry. But even with his status as a Hollywood icon, Eastwood has some notable movies that have been overlooked.
From some of the missed movies that highlight Eastwood's charm as an actor to the ones that allowed him to show off different sides of his persona, these forgotten Clint Eastwood movies can finally find the recognition they deserve.
Space Cowboys (2000)
Eastwood is an actor who fans have watched age over decades in movies and he has always embraced that. One of the best examples of this is Space Cowboys where he is joined by some other great veteran actors.

“Yellowstone,” “Mayor of Kingstown,” “1883” — so far, Taylor Sheridan’s steadily expanding TV universe has hewed closely to the writer-director’s breakthrough hit. And why not? Kevin Costner’s soapy family saga is a ratings juggernaut, its success credited to a setting in what’s left of America’s wild west, where the old ways of doing things clash with new ideas of right and wrong. A prequel, “1883,” ditches any pretense by abandoning the present to live fully in the past. Surrounding the Duttons’ actual ancestors are colonizers and covered wagons, shootouts and scenic vistas. If Costner represents the last of the cowboys, then Sam Elliott is their paragon at the peak of their prevalence. Even “Mayor of Kingstown,” which has no narrative ties to “Yellowstone,” is told like a modern Western with a heavy emphasis on family, reform, and machismo. Jeremy Renner may not wear a Stetson, but...

Paul Weitz’s “Moving On” boasts a legendary ensemble that includes Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Malcolm McDowell and Richard Roundtree. It’s always possible for such an illustrious cast to simultaneously elicit excitement and dread, though. Just ask anyone who has endured “Queen Bees,” “Poms,” “Book Club,” “Last Vegas” or “Space Cowboys.”
Good news: “Moving On” doesn’t just aim for warm and pleasant. The film is wickedly droll and shockingly riveting – the operative word being “shockingly.” The element of surprise abounds and is more integral to the plot here than in, say, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.” The less you know, the better because the film defies expectations in the best way possible. With that said, and somewhat heedless of our own advice, this review regrettably must proceed to tell you more. But we won’t spoil anything beyond what’s in the programming notes of the Toronto International Film Festival,...

"Auteur" is one of those words that get thrown around a lot, yet its meaning seems to vary depending on who you ask. It's a term that is most often afforded to directors whose work is held in high regard, but it can just as easily be applied to a filmmaker whose movies are rarely the bee's knees in the eyes of critics. This issue has even led to the coining of the somewhat polarizing phrase "Vulgar Auteurism" as a way for critics to avoid having to lump the Martin Scorseses of the world in with the likes of Michael Bay and Roland Emmerich.
In truth, you could fairly describe all three of those directors as being "auteurs." The basic idea dates back to at least 1954 when François Truffaut coined the term "La Politique des Auteurs" or "The Policy of the Authors." Even then, Truffaut was building on the writing of critics like André Bazin,...

On paper, Clint Eastwood seems to have enjoyed a well plotted out career. In the early 1960s, he made himself known to American television viewers via his role as Rowdy Yates on "Rawhide." From there, he segued to the newfangled Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone as the laconic "Man with No Name" in the "Dollars Trilogy." As conventional Westerns faded out of fashion, Eastwood made violent, anti-mythic oaters like "Hang 'Em High" and "The Outlaw Josey Wales," while adopting the persona of Dirty Harry Callahan in a series of cop flicks that both capitalized on and tweaked the country's law-and-order fervor. Then, after a few stumbles in the late 1980s, Eastwood went full-on revisionist with "Unforgiven," at which point he became a perennial Oscar darling.
Amazingly, Eastwood is still plugging away at 92. That kind of career longevity isn't just rare, it's just about unprecedented. Only Portuguese filmmaker Manoel de Oliveira,...

"Space Cowboys" plays against the conventions of usual astronaut-themed films of its time. Instead of a massive asteroid, the movie's heroes have to dismantle a Soviet satellite (although it's equipped with six nuclear missiles that pose a threat to mankind.) And in lieu of muscular, spry action heroes, there is a quartet of elder actors: Clint Eastwood (who also serves as director/producer on "Space Cowboys"), Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland (who's also appeared in other space-themed films like Roland Emmerich's "Moonfall"), and James Garner. In addition to staving off a potential nuclear apocalypse, the four have to deal with the specter of Death creeping up on...

Captain Pike is riding a horse. Why is he riding a horse? In a newly released promotional image for the upcoming series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, we see a cowboy in the saddle, looking out at the USS Enterprise as though he’s fixing to put a bumper sticker on it that says “my other starship is a horse.” If you’re only kind of into Trek, this may scan as weird. But, putting Captain Pike on a horse, is specifically, very classic. Here’s why this seemingly brazen image is actually layered with several Easter eggs. Giddyup!

The Netflix live-action adaptation of the beloved 90s anime series, Cowboy Bebop, has had a rocky start from the beginning.
Announced in 2017, with an impressive cast attached in 2019, the show experienced a shooting delay when star John Cho sustained an injury and then another when Covid hit.
Today, after a mixed reception from audiences to the ten-episode first season released on November 19, Netflix announced that a second season will not happen.
In case you missed it at its launch, Netflix describes the series as follows:
