Train Ride was a great movie with an exceptional performance from Woos Harris. His role was so realistic. The performance from rapper/actress MC Lyte was exceptional as well. The script was creative and the execution of the actors was just perfect. Rel Dowdell is a director with a future, we need more movies like this. Well written, acted and put together Train Ride is the kind of movie that many young people can relate to. I found myself reaching back to college after viewing this film.
I saw this movie and think it is worth showing in all communities. I especially feel there is a strong message to high school female who are looking forward to College. I think our young people think that entering college is getting away from Mom and Dad, party, party and just letting their hair down. Although there are some sexual scenes, I feel High School seniors are ready to get an idea of the "real deal" This doesn't frighten students about college. We all know, an education is needed. There is just a "WAKE UP CALL" Thomas Braxton does an excellent acting job when he takes the blame for his actions. This being Ester Rhoes last movie, it could be a tribute to her.
A truly extraordinary film, writer/director Rell Dowdell and his cast did an excellent job of showing us that communication is something we lack in today's society. Societies where families are in search of the American Dream shuffle their sons and daughters off to be raised by everyone but their parents.
Rell Dowdell is by far, one of the most talented and gifted writers/directors in the industry today. His film (Train Ride ) definitely will catch the hearts and minds of everyone who sees this film.

Days after I viewed the film, I found that it still had an impact on me. I am usually not one for independent films, as they always leave me confused and wondering....What did I just see? However, this film was very moving, funny, thought-provoking, and certainly one of the best independent films I've seen in a while. That is the extent of my comments, as I do not wish to be blacklisted by discussing what I really want to about the film in detail.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, and I thought the music was tight!

Train Ride reminds me so much of stories that I heard about in college. Every university across the nation should have this film shown in freshman orientation. With the making of this film Rel Dowdell has surpassed the thinking of the todays norm of film writers and directors. This film does not portray the typical African American roles of drug dealers, comedians, and athletes that we see in most films today. This film is a reality for every culture and race. Wood Harris and MC Lyte's performances are brilliant. They get so deep into their characters that you can feel their pain and/or pleasure ? They remind you so much of someone you have met or still do know. The ability to even imagine, write and direct this film says a lot. I can't wait to see what Rel has next ?
