Up-and-coming Director, Rel Dowdell has crafted an intriguing film that comments on today's young people and their lacking sense of morality. Set on a college campus, the film centers around a date rape and its ensuing implications. Wonderfully acted, the film points out many of humanity's shortcomings, such as lust, competition, power and control. A well written, well directed effort that should not be missed.
A truly extraordinary film, writer/director Rell Dowdell and his cast did an excellent job of showing us that communication is something we lack in today's society. Societies where families are in search of the American Dream shuffle their sons and daughters off to be raised by everyone but their parents.
Rell Dowdell is by far, one of the most talented and gifted writers/directors in the industry today. His film (Train Ride ) definitely will catch the hearts and minds of everyone who sees this film.

Train Ride reminds me so much of stories that I heard about in college. Every university across the nation should have this film shown in freshman orientation. With the making of this film Rel Dowdell has surpassed the thinking of the todays norm of film writers and directors. This film does not portray the typical African American roles of drug dealers, comedians, and athletes that we see in most films today. This film is a reality for every culture and race. Wood Harris and MC Lyte's performances are brilliant. They get so deep into their characters that you can feel their pain and/or pleasure ? They remind you so much of someone you have met or still do know. The ability to even imagine, write and direct this film says a lot. I can't wait to see what Rel has next ?
Rel Dowdell is by far, one of the most talented and gifted writer/director in the industry today. His movie (Train Ride) was very well written and casted some of the most talented actors around. The subject matter in the movie was something that really needed to be discussed so that unsuspecting and innocent people are aware of the damage that can result from drug usage. The movie deals with a very serious subject matter but you also get a few laughs in between the tears. I am very proud of this very insightful, young and creative writer/director.
I enjoyed "Train Ride" immensely!! I am so proud of this film and it's young African American Writer/Director. Oftentimes, new Writers/Directors opt to write about the more common theme (drugs/hustling). Although, this film was about drug usage, it was of usage in a different perspective and I could appreciate that. Not only was the story line good but it was consistent and entertaining and the acting was the best I've ever seen in an independent film! I congratulate this young African American Writer/Director on a job well done and I look forward to more of his work!!!!
