Playboy Video Playmate Calendar 1991

One look at the Playmates in this '1991 Calendar' and you understand why one might get excited from the outset. Big names like Pamela Anderson, Erika Eleniak & Petra Verkaik. Throw in the rest of the ladies - no slouches either - & you've got quite the video. A good year with lots to like and only one moment that let me down.

"January" is Tina Bockrath - May 1990 - who's got an infectious energy to match the clips jumping off at a killer rate. Good views courtesy of her mainly in a bathtub and in a chair briefly. Unfortunately a scene on a dark stage is blah (4.5 mins total). "February" is Peggy McIntaggart - Jan 1990 - who's got a smokin' body, but her first scene is slow and spends too much time on artsy shots of the non-nude variety. Her in bed bathed in blue light doesn't improve much (4.5 mins total). "March" is Karen Foster - Oct 1989 - talking about her Texan roots before a love for cheerleader style baton "twirling". Many nice shots of Karen topless and doing flips. The follow-up in a living room is hotter thou and has some nice full body shots (4 mins total).

"April" is Helle Michaelsen - Aug 1988 - from Denmark speaking in her foreign language before switching to English. A gunshot harkens in a cowgirl scene that is both a hoot and delivers visually. There's a nice shot of her butt & the sight of her with a gun belt, hat on but nothing else is lovely. Not familiar with Helle, but she certainly got my attention quick. A follow-up scene that has the look, feel of a famous Robert Palmer music video continues supplying nice views (4 mins total). "May" is Erika Eleniak - Jul 1989 - and this is that letdown I alluded to. Spins an inflatable tire clothed or laid out very still nude on a white set isn't hot. For a lady who's forever ingrained in my brain due to her awesome nude scene in 'Under Siege' this doesn't do her justice (4 mins total).

"June" is Bonnie Marino - Jun 1990 - who expels love for driving a jeep. You're bound to agree when she shows up naked behind the wheel or in general. A follow-up strip at a campfire from her top, jeans is great and fully nude inside a tent (3.5 mins total). "July" is Pamela Anderson - Feb 1990 - who needs no intro. Don't know how in hindsight she never became a PMOTY. As she talks about her love of jazz music she's in and out of black lingerie. Then it's a pink or white bra, lingerie in bed. Lastly her naked on a couch or standing that has some nice shots of her butt in particular (4.5 mins total). "August" is Renee Tenison - Nov 1989, PMOTY 1990 - and the second or third black Playmate I've seen in a desert theme, but it really works for them. Lots of gorgeous shots and the second scene of her working out has more. Lastly a milk bath has some good ones and ditto her rolling around in bed (5.5 mins total).

"September" is Lisa Matthews - Apr 1990, PMOTY 1991 - who gets right down to posing first in a bikini then a skintight black dress, but not a ton of nudity. A second scene indoors has slightly more, but still not enough for my tastes (3.5 mins total). "October" is Deborah Driggs - Mar 1990 - who goes into a dance number with no prolonged nudity. Thankfully her stripping out of a business dress & lastly a dissolve to her solo naked that follows is pleasing (5.5 mins total). "November" is Petra Verkaik - Dec 1989 - outdoors in a swing, nude in a field. Know her calling card? You will once Petra's huge all natural bosom hits the screen. A follow-up playing pool in a sparkling red dress kicks up the energy, visuals in a standout moment that has all the hot shots of her body you crave (4 mins total). "December" is Jacqueline Sheen - Jul 1990 - first semi-nude in a chair talking. Then her in a black dress, leggings, top hat with gloved hands grabbing at her, making her laugh that had me completely sold. Then the hands continue up & down her body elsewhere, but at a slower pace as the camera soaks her up in lovely closeups (4.5 mins total).

This came out at a time when I was too young to care about, grasp the joys of naked females. Luckily the joys found within the '1991 Calendar' were preserved forever. You might have seen Pamela's stuff before. Maybe other ladies if you've sat through one too many Playboy titles like me, but that doesn't take away anything from this decent yearly collection of Playmates.

Those of you unlucky enough not to own a laserdisc copy of this video calendar are missing one of the best Playboy videos in terms of beauty and production values. Two Texas gals and one Canadian gal set the pace early, and establish the high standard for sensuous presentation throughout the video. Ms. Bockrath is one of the loveliest blondes to ever grace the pages of Playboy. Here she is at her most beautiful, prancing around a house, and sponging her body in a tub. The other Texan, Karen Foster, would later be featured in her own Video release, with Deborah Driggs. Suffice it to say, you have never met a blonde baton twirler with the physical assets of Karen. In between is Canadian superwoman Peggy McIntaggart. She looks like a Greek goddess, really. The blue-lit sequence with her in bed is more erotic than anything you will see out of Hollywood. The remaining playmates are all wonderful, too. Lisa Matthews would go on to become playmate of the year. Renee Tennison was the reigning pmoy. The video closes with a delightful sequence involving Jacqueline Sheen. Wearing a derby and a black vest, she is disrobed by men(?) wearing white gloves, each attempting to touch her supple, warm body. You have never seen a cabaret number like this, and you probably never will in a film. But Playboy videos are another matter. The best are in a class by themselves. You don't need to watch them because of their power to arouse; you watch them to appreciate female beauty in visually stunning, mood-inspiring settings. L'art de la femme, 10+++.
