    Another (deserved) 80s direct-to-video obscurity

Heat Street This amateurish, video-shot feature is a good example of the lower level of dreck that could get into the video rental market in the 1980s. It's sort of a 10th-rate "Death Wish" knockoff in which a retired black boxer's daughter is raped by "punky" L.A. hoodlums (they wear makeup more glam than Adam Ant, and pastier than the zombies in "Dawn of the Dead"), and his greasy white aging "Saturday Night Fever"-looking repo-man pal is enlisted to help look for the perps.

It's aaaaaalmost a "good" bad movie, but the energy level often drags and the performances are weak without being colorfully so. If you're really into cheesy 80s Z-grade genre trash, this is worth a look. Otherwise, it's a trash-cinema footnote you can certainly live without experiencing, as it's both dumb fun and a bit of a chore to get through. The posters who gave this a "10" surely must have been involved with its production, because nobody else in their right mind would defend this as more than a low-budget mediocrity at best.

If you're looking for an early video-shot direct-to-video howler, go with the crazy-silly 1982 horror "Boarding House." The ending here is notably lame, as if the filmmakers had simply run out of money to film the closing sequences that would have wrapped things up in a really climactic sense. Plus side: Technically, it could be worse. The photography and editing are adequate for this sort of thing.

A great way to spend an hour or so!

This movie truly does rock! Hats off to all involved. A great waste of time! Good acting, unnecessary violence and more!

    More power to the Actors

I thought the acting was great; considering most of them, I found out later, during a little research of each of them, were new comers. KUDOS to you all. This movie was good for a late evening action flick. The female actors were really good, and natural. Its a really good piece for a bunch of folks who missed there Monday Night football game. Praises to the entire crew who worked on this project. Looked to be time consumed! And again, the Acting was Good acting. Some of the violence over rated and appeared to be unnecessary and more! I hope to see more flicks like this one with less violence. I hope to see more flicks with new comers in them. I hope to see more parts for female actors, because these ladies were really good, I thought.

    B street heat

Merhi and Pepin are at it, again with another B entry into B ville. They make movies faster than I can eat a hot dog. They do have a style in their story telling, and there's always some shocking scene. Here we have two strong written male characters, first bumping heads, but soon becoming some sort of vigilante team, our ex boxer and repo man, bringing a lot of heat down. Some not so bad acting, especially from the female players, who are quite strong in their roles. Proving again bad B films, don't have to have bad acting Quite tragic heavy hitting moments near the end, but again this isn't a bad Pepin/Merhi effort, but doesn't put it in the good or average category. Quite stunned to find a smaller player became a bigger name/someone of a stud. Strictly undemanding fare. Just appreciate it, for what it's worth.
