David Keith has Directed and played in a lot of his own films. As he did both in this Movie.
I think it was a great film. It keeps you going you never know what's coming next. Kathy Shower plays a big city wife in the jungle for her first time and has to learn that she can't dress and act like she's still in the city. Her Husband ends up getting killed and she gets kidnaped and raped by the jungle people. So David Keith has to come in and save the day.
A very good film, but keep the kids away from this one.

In the unlikely case that some aspiring directors are reading these comments, I'd like to offer some advice (free of charge!), from a viewer's perspective. If you want to make a serious exotic adventure film, do it. If you want to make a spoof of exotic adventure films, go ahead. DO NOT try to make both at the same time, it doesn't work. For example, having a goofy "comic relief" character killed and beheaded and following it up with a monkey shaking a tree and dropping a coconut on a cannibal's head just makes you look like you had NO IDEA what kind of movie you wanted to make. This one is boring, meandering, cheap, racist....you get the picture. A couple of smart moments and a few glimpses of nudity from Kathy Shower (way too prissy here) are hardly worth your trouble. There is a reason everyone has forgotten about this film's existence. (*1/2)
this was an unexpected delight, as a well crafted "b movie" with a delicious playmate, classic jungle adventure plot an a sense of humor in spite of thin finances and straight to video release. oiling Kathy before her confrontation with her jungle natives fate is yummy an extended with the director knowing what will entertain his audience. The natives are near nude and seem quite authentic, an used to the jungle and nudity. Shot on an Indian ocean island, the director used the hired natives to great advantage. I've loved jungle movies since the first Tarzan i saw, and this is not a cheap Ramar of the jungle quickie, but something for the 2nd on a twin bill in the fifties. "tarzan and his mate" had beautiful nudity, as a loinclothed Maureen O'sullivan dressed for her mate and a hot steamy jungle, which produced a very modern sexual content to a "black white oldie". The hayes office was not amused an it was heavily censored. But i digress, an highly recommended a very good "b movie" with humor, sexy actors, and an interesting plot.
Although this is generally a cheesy jungle-adventure movie, it does have some highlights - the settings are quite beautiful, and the pacing of the adventure is good. You won't be bored watching it.
Keith is as breezy as possible playing the eponymous lead, an unabashedly drunk jungle guide shanghai'd into escorting rich boy Van Hoffman and his gorgeous wife Shower on a hunting expedition in cannibal country. He never takes things seriously . Shower is there as decoration and Keith makes extensive use of her - she doesn't really have to act much. She's not the only female to show off her body and the prurient aspects of the film make it about halfway to a T/A picture.
There's nothing in this film that would draw specific attention to it, or away from it. Produced to be shlock, it succeeds without too much fuss. A good 2 AM cable programmer.

Okay, so "The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck" never won any awards and it probably never will do and, sure, it is PURE CHEESE. But it's a good kind of cheese, you know, like when you order a pepperoni pie with extra mozerella!
You have to watch this film with a pizza-frame-of-mind, 'cause it's that kind of movie. This is a story about a drunken ne'erdowell "guide" hired to lead a yuppy couple through the jungle on a mysterious quest. Along the way, they meet various pseudo-jungle-type inhabitants - many of them stereo-typical canibals and headhunters - but before you judge, just take note of the first fight scene. It's two hairy white guys dressed like they just exited a 1930's adventure film. Oh, and Tennessee Buck has magic amulet. Just sayin.
I think it was intended to be campy. I hope so, 'cause it is even if it wasn't.
Still, that's what makes this movie so much fun - that and David Keith playing a tough guy. I mean, the dude is like a big teddy bear!
So, pop some corn, grab a slice and watch ('cause this movie is corny and cheesy)!!!

- TriviaThe infamous scene where Barbara (Kathy Shower) is rubbed with oil and raped by village chief was much longer and more sexual in rough cut of the film that was submitted to the MPAA who gave it X rating.
In the original scene she was being held by two native women in front of the chief's mother while the other two women remove her clothes and scatter it on floor as the chief's mother looks on. They then pin Barbara onto a table and begin to rub her in oil. The oil rubdown was few minutes longer and more erotic, the native women rub oil aggressively in between Barbara's thighs and her hips respond by grinding back vigorously. There was more strong breast kneading and squeezing with Barbara's erect nipples being tweaked and pulled. Barbara moans a few times to the point of orgasm while this happens, before she eventually does climaxes. After the scene when chief arrives and throws decapitated head at her, he then forces her in position with her rear up in the air before the rape scene, which was also much longer and graphic.
- Quotes
Barbara Manchester: How can anyone shoot like that? And when they've been drinking!
Buck Malone: It takes a lot of practice. Four or five hours a day, seven days a week.
Ken Manchester: You practice shoot that much?
Buck Malone: No, I drink that much.
- Alternate versionsThere was an very rare alternative version of the film that was only show on cable back in the 1990's. This version contained extended and missing scenes not shown in the official version which shows more of Barbara Manchester's (Kathy Shower) ordeal at the hands of the savage natives. The stripping of Barbara Barbara is held up against the wall of the hut by two young native women while an older native woman stands in front of Barbara and proceeds to pull at her shirt. Barbara's shirt is ripped open revealing her bosom and then Barbara is striped down to her panties before being pulled away to the chief's bed for her oil rub down. Extended oil sequence The infamous oil rub down is only a minute long in the official version. In this extended version the oil sequence is around 2 minutes long with additional shots of Barbara having her breasts squeezed hard relentlessly with more moans coming from Barbara as the native women work her up into a frenzy. Extra and longer sex scenes The first is of Barbara, having been oiled up extensively by the native women, lying on her front with her rear slightly raised with the chief taking her from behind. There is a wide shot of this happening that is not in the official version. The next sex scene occurs after the chief enters the hut with a naked oiled up Barbara sitting on the ground. He glares at her as Barbara backs up to the hut's wall and says in an angry tone "What do you want?" The chief then throws the head of her husband at her. This scene is extended with the chief having sex with Barbara a second time except this time Barbara is lying on her back and the chief is on top of her.
