Goodfellas spends its first minutes following a young Henry Hill as he started to get involved with the mob, and it was during those young years that he met Tommy DeVito, and here’s who plays young Tommy and what he has done since Goodfellas. Based on the book Wiseguy, by Nicholas Pileggi, Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas chronicles the rise and fall of mob associate Henry Hill (Ray Liotta), from his days as a teenager running errands for Paul Vario (Paul Sorvino) and his crew to his full involvement with the Lucchese crime family, ending with his decision to cooperate with the FBI, which led to the arrest of many of his former friends and colleagues.
During his time working for Paulie and his people when he was still a teenager, Henry not only delivered messages and served sandwiches and drinks at parties, but he also slowly became involved in various criminal activities,...

A potential writers strike would be incredibly harmful for many in Hollywood, but there’s one sector of the entertainment industry that is quietly optimistic that it could lead to a boom for them: the unscripted television makers.
As history has shown, there’s also precedent for an uptick — from the 1988 strike that led to the creation of Fox’s Cops and the 2007-08 strike, which bolstered unscripted shows such as The Amazing Race and Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Fox alternative entertainment head Rob Wade said the quick spread of the Covid-19 delta variant this summer caught everyone off guard — and led to the outbreak of cases registered on the set of “The Masked Singer.”
Last month Los Angeles County’s Public Health department reported 12 confirmed positive Covid-19 cases at Red Studios Hollywood, where “The Masked Singer” was shooting its sixth season. Production wasn’t shut down, however, and Wade says the season — the first with an audience back in studio since the pandemic began — will look and feel much like a return to normal for the show.
But that took a lot of effort — and the outbreak had a “huge impact” on the show, Wade said. “You have to realize with ‘Masked Singer,’ we had done two seasons of ‘Masked Singer’ and a season of ‘Masked Dancer.’ This was our fourth ‘Masked’ franchise within 18 months. It’s all...

After teasing the plan in recent months, CNN has confirmed it will launch stand-alone streaming service CNN+ in the first quarter of 2022.
When parent WarnerMedia was ramping up HBO Max to launch last spring, management had indicated a plan to include a live news element on the platform. Over time, though, the strategy shifted toward one of emphasizing the CNN brand proposition in a more targeted way.
In the official announcement of the launch, the news outlet said it will serve “CNN superfans, news junkies and fans of quality non-fiction programming.”
CNN is the last major news network to start a streaming channel, though it did have a separate feed for live programming on CNN.com in the early 2000s that was eventually discontinued. While many streaming initiatives in TV news predate the coronavirus pandemic, the appetite for news in 2020 gave more momentum to the digital shift. NBC News and...

Fox’s “America’s Most Wanted” revival has done some good in nabbing fugitives from justice, but how “wanted” has it really been among Americans (as measured by Nielsen)? The short answer: not very. Including one week of (mostly) DVR viewing, the March 15, 2021 season premiere of “America’s Most Wanted” with Elizabeth Vargas as host drew a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 and (a rounded) 2.8 million total viewers. The following week stayed steady in the key demo, though it shed 221,000 overall viewers. By Week 3, both metrics declined and the five-episode comeback solidified itself as a noncompetitive series. Though the franchise was never really a big TV hit (and spent most of its former life slotted on Saturdays) these numbers place this “America’s Most Wanted” a far cry away from its heyday, when John Walsh hosted. The original “America’s Most Wanted” aired on Fox from 1998 to 2011 before moving to Lifetime for two years. In that final year on Fox,...

ABC’s Rebel Wilson-hosted dog-grooming competition “Pooch Perfect” grew from last week in both its rating and overall audience size. While the two shows might not have a Ton of natural crossover, it certainly didn’t hurt that CBS’ “NCIS” was in reruns. A little growth doesn’t mean ABC topped primetime ratings though — that distinction went to NBC. However, even with its whole run of repeats — and a new “This Is Us” on NBC — CBS drew the most total viewers on Tuesday. CBS, ABC, Fox and Univision all tied for second place in the key demo’s (adults 18-49) Nielsen ratings. The Bachelor closed out its season Monday with ratings highs, but it fell well short of last year’s finale. The Voice ticked up a little for NBC while the premiere of Fox’s revived America’s Most Wanted didn’t draw much of a crowd.
The finale of The Bachelor scored a 1.49 rating among adult 18-49 and 6.07 million total viewers — highs in both measures for this season. It was the top show of the night in the 18-49 demographic. Compared to 2020, however, the finale fell a third in the demo (vs. a 2.25 average for the ...

The latest controversial season of The Bachelor ended down considerably from last year.
The season finale drew 5.75 million total viewers and a 1.4 rating -- way down from the 7.7 million/2.2 rating it pulled in last year.
An After The Final Rose (5.3 million/1.3 rating) special was also down double digits.
The franchise announced last night that it would continue with two back-to-back seasons of The Bachelorette, one of which definitely won't have Chris Harrison.
Over on NBC, The Voice was steady at 7.7 million viewers and a 1.1 rating.
Debris Season 1 Episode 3 was steady at 3.4 million viewers and a 0.4 rating -- but these numbers probably won't be enough for it to survive for long.
Over on Fox, America's Most Wanted returned with a revival, but it went virtually ignored at a paltry 2.2 million viewers and a 0.3 rating.

No broken hearts here: ABC topped Monday in the key demo’s ratings with the finale of Matt James’ “Bachelor” season. NBC and “The Voice” drew more total viewers, however. Last night, Fox brought back “America’s Most Wanted.” It turns out, the return wasn’t wanted by all that many Americans. Also worth mentioning, The CW premiered Season 3 of “Bulletproof.” The Nielsen numbers for the cop drama imported from Britain were full of holes. Find out who won “The Bachelor” Season 25 here. After almost a decade off the air, “America’s Most Wanted” returns Monday to its home network, Fox, with an Elizabeth Vargas-hosted revival. And while the show is returning at a time when we’ve hit peak true-crime TV, the new face of “America’s Most Wanted” says it’s bringing one thing to the table that none of those other shows can: offering “viewers the chance to actually do something” — and in real time, too. “We have phone banks of law-enforcement officials taking tips in real time, as we air,” the Emmy-winning “20/20,” “World News Tonight” and “Good Morning America” vet told TheWrap. “So we have people who will check out these tips from our viewers, instantaneously, right away… Whether they reach us on Instagram, or Twitter, or text us, or call us, we’re standing by to be able to take these tips and check them out and see...

Elizabeth Vargas didn’t seek to become a prominent voice for the recovery community. But the longtime ABC News anchor was put on that path nearly a decade ago when her treatment for alcohol addiction and anxiety became tabloid fodder. Once the news was out, Vargas decided she’d better be the one to tell her story. She wrote a much-praised book, “Between Breaths: A Memoir of Panic and Addiction,” in 2016. Last year she launched a podcast, “Heart of the Matter,” with the Partnership to End Addiction nonprofit advocacy group. The series is devoted to candid conversations about addiction and mental health crises. Vargas was also just tapped by Fox to host the revival of “America’s Most Wanted,” scheduled to premiere in March.

Over eight years since its last episode, Fox is bringing back America's Most Wanted with former ABC news anchor Elizabeth Vargas as its host, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series, which ran from 1988 to 2011 on the network before moving to Lifetime for a final season in 2012, featured reenactments of crimes, as well as interview portions, that highlighted a culprit who was still at large. Photographs of the fugitive were shown, and the show provided the number for their tip line with the hope that a viewer would help bring the perpetrators to justice. Over a thousand criminals were brought to justice due to the program, including 17 on the FBI's Most Wanted List. The...

This Unsolved Mysteries Volume 2 review contains spoilers.
Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries Volume 2 comes back even more serious than the first volume. The theme music may have a new arrangement which forebodes horrifying tales, but the telling has become even further removed from the overwrought drama of the original series which aired from 1987 to 2010. I have to admit, I miss the cheese of the gravelly melodrama which host Robert Stack exposed from under his raincoat. The crimes are exactly as promised, they are mysterious and open. But the Netflix series is almost too forensic in its unraveling, and it doesn’t even rely too much on the science itself.
The six new episodes profile fantastically mysterious happenings and tragic events in the hope a viewer holds the key to solving the cases. Viewers have also been calling tips into the Unsolved.com website. The first volume episode investigating the death of...

The debut of Netflix’s “Unsolved Mysteries” reboot earlier this month has brought about a clamoring for cold cases to be brought to justice. In that spirit, we’ve compiled a list of TV shows that have actually solved crimes, exonerated people, and found answers to the unknown, from “The Jinx” miniseries that lead to the arrest of Robert Durst, to “Extinct or Alive,” which found a living animal thought to have died out over a hundred years ago.
“Unsolved Mysteries”
Back before the Netflix reboot, this classic series was on network television. Creator Terry Meurer told TheWrap that during its original 23-year run, the series helped to solve over 260 cold cases. She has high hopes that the Netflix reboot will have the same luck.

In 1987, host Robert Stack informed and frightened a generation as host of the series “Unsolved Mysteries.” Using both re-enactments with actors (including a pre-fame Matthew McConaughey) and Stack’s sonorous voice, viewers were told two stories a week, ranging from murders and abductions, to the reunification of families, to supernatural examinations of haunted houses and ghosts.
Every week I watched, I’d be frightened — and inspired that I, too, could help solve a mystery. The series changed networks and timeslots before being canceled in 2002; Robert Stack passed away in 2003. A short-lived reboot hosted by Dennis Farina ran from 2008 to 2010. The afterlife has been kind to the original show; there was a syndicated run Lifetime; it is available on PlutoTV; updated episodes are streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

A&e has decided not to run new episodes of “Live Pd” this Friday and Saturday, while Paramount Network has delayed the Season 33 launch of “Cops,” the long-running reality series that was scheduled to return on Monday.
The decision to hold “Live Pd” and “Cops” comes as protests over police brutality continue across the nation following the killing of George Floyd by Minnesota police officers, shining a spotlight on the widespread abuse by law enforcement against African Americans. This weekend A&e will air episodes of “Live Rescue” in its place.
“Out of respect for the families of George Floyd and others who have lost their lives, in consultation with the departments we follow, and in consideration for the safety of all involved, we have made the decision not to broadcast ‘Live Pd’ this weekend,” A&e said in a statement.
