    Tim Settling Down?

Pistol Harvest, one of the later Tim Holt westerns for RKO, has Tim maybe finally looking to settle down and marry the lovely Joan Dixon and quit riding the range with Richard Martin.

Her adopted father Edward Hearn is real pleased to have Tim Holt as a son-in-law and agrees to help finance the young to be marrieds with the purchase of a new ranch.

The problem is that the $30,000.00 that Tim withdraws will leave the town banker without any funds to cover some shady dealings. After that it's a cat and mouse game that gets real deadly.

There were some aspects to this story that did not really ring true and a plot line that involved Joan Dixon being adopted and one of the outlaw henchmen being her long lost brother. Personally I don't think it added anything to the story. And in the end some of the playful wolfishness of Richard Martin's character Chito took an out of place turn.

Still there's a lot of action to cover up the rough spots and Tim Holt is one of the best cowboy heroes Hollywood ever had.

Tim and Chito reap a pistol harvest !

This excellent 1951 western features the great team of Tim Holt and his Irish-Mexican sidekick Chito Rafferty. Tim is enamored of Felice, whose adopted father has a bank loan stolen by some villainous no-goods. The Banker and his lackies become suspects and the search begins.

Action, chemistry and fine suspense are all present here. Holt handles the action scenes with the best of them and Chito was a happy-go-lucky, believable sidekick. The great heavy Bob Wilke appears as a dastardly villain. What more could any western fan ask for ?

This film is a good example of how good films of this period can be. Worth watching again & again !

    Watchable Holt western

Watchable Tim Holt western containing more drama and suspense than the usual fast galloping action. It's more story-Laden with a lost and found theme. A good time filler. Just love the chemistry and wordplay between Holt and Chico. And Joan Dixon is a beauty, pity she only made a handful of films.
