Dreymar við havið

I watched this one to set the mood before going on a trip to the Faroe Islands, and I'm happy to say I liked the film very much. I loved the way the story gradually unfolded and we got slowly but surely immersed into the world of the main characters Ester and Ragna, their everyday life and their closeness. Both of them dream of leaving this place because they, as many of us, too, believe it's greener and better elsewhere; and it is interesting for me to see that looking forward to my own visit to this land, so beautiful and calm. I particularly liked Juliett Nattestad's acting, so delicate and eloquent with minimum words said. Interestingly, she acts in a music video of an Icelandic duo Kiasmos (filmed in the Faroe Islands of course), where no words are spoken and Juliett is just wonderful. The film score is also worth mentioning; I liked the piano pieces by Povl Kristian and the final song by Gudrun and Bartal. All in all, I'd call it a wonderful and deep portrayal of a person's soul adorned by the beauty of nature and music.
