Why anyone would say this is church propaganda is beyond me. The movie only depicts a Catholic church setting- it does not push religion. The entire cast is AMAZING. Excellent work from people I was not familiar with- but I am now! Excellent story- heartfelt and well done. This should be required viewing for high schools everywhere. GREAT FILM by a female director!
This is a heartwrenching story but shows the importance of paying attention to our families, our communities and most importantly, our children as it becomes clear in this story that this oversight is what relates to a huge loss of life.
Terrible acting, terrible script, inaccurate depiction of drug taking in every way... Avoid
Apart from being immediately suspicious of how many 10/10s this got, the film is a shocker of a frankly laughable and bizarre Reefer Madness type hard sell. I wonder is there "peer advisor" or whoever provided the drug use practices reseach information was having a cruel joke on the production.
Having seen the odd drug user in my time: i can tell you this is just plain wrong in what it portrays as (for one) injecting behaviour. Its like they picked up all the myths, since debunked, about injecting drugs and decided they were real enough for this movie. But then most people who see this film will be the just say no brigade, so I guess as long as it paints injection opioids as a one way trip to hell, that justifies liberties with the truth.
A lie is a lie, but I give this 2/10 for the fact that it deals with an important topic, however badly.
Go see Drugstore Cowboy or, if you prefer the newer or more dramatic, see Souvenirs. Better still, find Pure S***...

Movie starts with two young girls injecting at a party. The two seemingly normal girls live the typical teenage life with their families and regular school obligations. Both are addicted to heroin.
Other have said that the Christian element of this movie might be too strong - I don't believe this is the case. The Catholic church in this movie is part of the plot, showing that the kid doesn't have too many other people to turn to.
Overall, a below average movie with a few plot holes.
Not worth your time.
