God, this is incredible, what kind of lakorn is this, set in the first third of the 20th century, when the Japanese occupied Siam at the time. Read the description in the previous review by Barka, I'll just emphasize that the story must have been invented and written by the devil himself. We are in a time when the world did not wish other people, we are in the time of a Chinese clan operating in the territory of Siam, and the intrigues are so terrible, so surprising and every ten minutes they turn in a way that you do not expect. Absolutely no boredom, grown-up, no school kids. I thought to myself, I'll take a look at the first part and then I'll probably wait for the translation to be completed, but somehow it's still not happening, and after the first part, which is such an introductory piece, I just took a look at the second part. But that was a mistake! There it started in such a way that I devoured the series in three days. And that it is a pack, 17 parts of 70 to 75 minutes each! In addition to the intrigues and surprising plot twists, it is also a sky-high drama, mystical and sometimes even tragic (see the mushrooms), but that doesn't bother me, I also don't blame fairy tales for the story because they are partly fictional, everything was done so that the viewer, especially Thai , he didn't get bored. But on the other hand, beautiful visuals, a great theme tune and a song by NuNew that has 66 million views on YT and excellent acting in the Thai way. I was captivated by the beautiful sibling love, while the mothers scheming the ostopero, the younger brother, the brawler Yang, was every inch a symposus, the equally beautiful Jiu, who gradually fell in love with Thian, who was expected to succeed the clan leader, as well as both wives and one mistress the existing Song fruit and their two butler maids. A great experience for those who understand why it is filmed and made the way it is. The current rating on MDL 8.3 and IMDb 8.5 speaks for itself, who doesn't like Asian lakorns - I don't recommend it, others do!
This is probably the most powerful BL series I've watched so far. It got the whole package of a perfect series :
1. Drama
2. Intrigue
3. Plot twists
4. Great acting (most of the lead actors and actresses, at least)
5. Beautiful visual
6. Mesmerizing soundtracks
7. Tragedy
8. Captivating conflicts
9. Satisfying ending
10. Moral lesson
There's not a dull moment that I get from watching it. It's interesting and stealing my attention the whole time I was watching it. I've never watch a series quite like it. Props to the writers and director for succeeding in creating a beautiful masterpiece. 10 out of 10 stars from me.
I binge watch this for straight two days. I was here after watching Laws of attraction.
This series won me over despite initial reservations about its large cast. As an old soul with a fondness for historical settings, I was drawn to the show's unique backdrop. While I anticipated Yang, Thian's half-brother, might play the villain, I pleasantly surprised by his unwavering loyalty and love for Thian throughout the series. And I'm glad that his mother did not successfully brainwashed him. Though Yang mother's character in this series was full of hatred I find her hilarious sometimes lol.
This show is not focusing on romance but it focused more on family dynamics, business, and societal pressures. The real conflict arises when Thian's mother discovers that he is gay since he was young highlighting the struggles of acceptance in a conservative era. The character development between the leads is gradual, with Jiu's introduction spaced out over few episodes. While the chemistry between the actors is superb, their relationship lacks intimacy, which might be due to the actors' comfort level with romantic scenes, a trait also noticeable in Laws of Attraction the series.
Despite this, I enjoyed the series and appreciated its happy ending. If you're a fan of historical BL dramas with complex family dynamics, this series worth checking out.

"My world is like this alley.
You just walk past and then leave."
This drama hit me really hard in quite unexpected ways. It had me falling for the tragedy, the hurt, and the love itself.
Firstly, it starts, very unexpectedly, with a side-character's story. This was an amazing choice as this groundbreaking scandal is significant for the main characters' paths in lives and their decisions as adults. Additionally, it creates quite a dramatic, tragic atmosphere.
Later on, the tragic twist of fate makes it all the more clear how important this scene actually was, how driven, how regretful, and how tragic choices chosen can be.
This introductory story has you hoping, from quite early on, that these past events will be a good lesson for Tian's father as he witnesses what his reaction back in the day has set in motion.
Secondly, the admirable brotherly love - shown in the way the brothers maintaine a close relationship despite the intrigues - drew me in.
Thirdly, the love stories are each scandalous (for that time) and so very beautiful while also very different compared to one another which makes more interesting and realistic.
Tian's love story is really dramatic, although, when he is with Jiu, there is this calamity that has you swooning from the dephts of your heart knowing they are just right for each other. The brutal twist of fate concerning Jiu's motive is yet another tragic hit Tian has to suffer from.
His brother Yang's love story is rather cute as he falls for Tian's fiancé - it combines an enemies to lovers trope with a forbidden love element.
Anyhow, Yang having Tian's full support concerning Yang dating Tian's fiancé is quite funny from an outside perspective.
To sum it up, this drama is very layered, spiked with lots of secrets, many changes of places, and an over-all very well done production with amazing acting, and a admirable attention to details as much as subtle portrayals of feelings.
I absolutely loved it. This is a great work of art!
