Image
When you purchase through our links, we may earn an affiliate commission.

Apple TV+ is still relatively new in the streaming industry, and despite having made a name for themselves by producing quality content that people talk about to no end, the Apple-owned streaming service has produced some shows that don’t get talked about much, but not because they are bad, but because they are overlooked. On one hand, Apple TV+ has produced extremely popular shows like Ted Lasso and Severance; on the other hand, it has brilliant but nowhere near as popular shows like Drops of God and Slow Horses. That’s why we decided to compile a list of all the brilliant shows that have been overlooked by the masses.

Image
One of the most popular Apple TV+ shows right now just got done with a season. And it has turned heads worldwide – The Studio is known for showing the chaos that comes with running a film studio, and it’s filled with amazing casts, real directors, and actors who play roles that are in contrast to their characters.

Platonic Season 2 to Premiere August 6 on Apple TV+
Nicholas Stoller at an event for Vizinhos (2014)
Creators Francesca Delbanco and Nicholas Stoller, whose real-life partnership inspired the show’s central bond, indicated that filming wrapped earlier this year, with Delbanco telling Soap Central that production “neared completion” by spring 2025. Delbanco and Stoller have hinted that Season 2 will explore new dimensions of Will and Sylvia’s relationship, maintaining the “messed up” humor at the heart of their dynamic while shifting settings between Los Angeles and San Diego.

Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen return as Sylvia, a stay-at-home mother rediscovering her spontaneity, and Will, a recently divorced friend whose brewery venture provides both comic relief and poignant moments. They are joined by newcomers Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett in recurring roles, promising fresh chemistry alongside core cast members Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale and Carla Gallo.

Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne Get Hilariously 'Platonic' in First Season 2 Trailer
Image
Apple TV+ is bringing back your favourite besties — and this time, the drama is even messier. Platonic, the hit half-hour comedy starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, will return for its ten-episode second season on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, with a two-episode premiere. New episodes will drop weekly through October 1, and today, we’ve got your very first look. Rogen, the current king of Apple TV+ after his outstanding comedy series The Studio reunites with his co-star from that show, Nick Stoller — co-creator, writer and director alongside Francesa Delbanco — as Season 2 of Platonic reunites viewers with Rogen’s and Byrne’s wonderfully dysfunctional friends Will and Sylvia.

Having survived the awkward wreckage of their Season 1 reconnection, the pair now face a new round of mid-life chaos — including work stress, wedding drama, and relationship meltdowns — all while trying (and very regularly failing) to keep each other grounded. As the new teaser warns us — sometimes,...

Latest Apple TV+ renewal marks streamer's longest-running original comedy series
Image
This week, Apple TV+ made a lot of exciting renewal announcements for its original series, but one of those announcements made history for the streamer. British comedy series Trying earned a renewal for season 5, which makes the critically acclaimed, fan-favorite series the longest-running comedy series on Apple TV+ in terms of amount of seasons.

With Trying season 5 now confirmed, the comedy has also achieved the ranks of the streamer's longest-running shows overall, matching the likes of For All Mankind, which has been renewed for season 5, and Slow Horses, which has been renewed for seasons 5 and 6. For comedies, Mythic Quest ended with four seasons, as will Acapulco this summer.

Apple TV+ has renewed a number of its beloved original comedy series like Loot (season 3), Palm Royale (season 2), Platonic (season 2), Bad Monkey (season 2), Shrinking (season 3), Ted Lasso (season 4), and the latest popular hit The Studio (season 2). The renewals for Acapulco, The Studio,...

‘The Studio’ Renewed for Season 2 by Apple TV+
Image
Who’s ready for a sequel to the “Kool-Aid” movie? “The Studio,” Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s hit satire that has captured Hollywood’s attention for its scarily on-the-nose depiction of the film industry, has been renewed for a second season by Apple TV+, the streamer announced Tuesday.

The renewal for Season 2 of “The Studio” arrives just before the airing of Episode 8 this Wednesday evening on Apple TV+, and the first season has two more episodes after that. This week will see Rogen’s studio head Matt Remick try to get Zoë Kravitz to thank him in her Golden Globes awards acceptance speech.

“We’re thrilled to be making a second season of ‘The Studio.’ We’re looking forward to taking the lived experience of making Season 1 and immediately putting it into Season 2, then repeating that loop for ten more seasons,” said creators and executive producers Rogen and Goldberg.

The Best New Streaming Comedy Of 2025 Hates AI As Much As You Do
Image
This article contains spoilers for "The Studio" episode 7, "Casting."

I try to avoid hyperbolic hot takes, but the more time goes on, the more I'm starting to think that Seth Rogen truly is one of the most brilliant comedians to ever do it. He broke into the mainstream in the 2000s thanks to projects like "Superbad" and "Knocked Up", but as the "Freaks and Geeks" alum has grown, his comedy has evolved to an incomparable level. He currently executive produces and stars on Francesca Delbanco & Nicholas Stoller's Apple TV+ series "Platonic," which very well might be the smartest show about disaster millennials failing to accept the realities of their societal roles as adults. But his true masterpiece is the cringe-comedy Hollywood satire "The Studio" (also on Apple TV+), co-created with frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg along with Alex Gregory, Peter Huyck, and Frida Perez.

We at /Film have been loving "The Studio,...

The Studio Is Funny but Is It Just a Vanity Project for Seth Rogen to Hang With His Famous Friends?
Image
Seth Rogen is no stranger to comedic roles, but why has the actor chosen to create a show with many of his friends now?

There are certain polarizing figures in Hollywood, and Seth Rogen is one of them. You either think he’s a comedic genius or a total fraud. We have similar polarizing thoughts on his new Apple TV+ show, The Studio.

If you haven’t yet watched, the first thing you’ll think is, “What was the budget for this show?” And it’s not because of CGI or spectacular sets.

(Courtesy of Apple TV+)

The Studio boasts a cast of some highly familiar and celebrated Hollywood faces. But is that enough for a successful show?

More to the point, is Seth trying to make a successful show, or did he create a job where he gets to hang out with all his famous friends?

‘The Studio’ Is Not Seth Rogen’s First Show on Apple TV+, This Rom-Com With 93% Rt Score Deserves a Second Look
Image
With The Studio winning hearts on Apple TV, one can’t help but wonder why Seth Rogen had stayed away from the platform before that! Well, that isn’t true, because before there was The Studio, there was the rom-com Platonic that Seth Rogen was a part of.

While The Studio is an out-and-out satire comedy that throws light on the realities of Hollywood in a hilarious way, Platonic was a beautiful romantic comedy that went by comparatively unnoticed. It first aired in 2023, and Seth Rogen was seen starring with the talented actress Rose Byrne.

The Romcom that slipped under the radar: Platonic

Before Matt Remick, the neurotic studio boss, came into existence, Seth Rogen was associated with Apple TV through this show. Despite having a stellar 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, many people seemed to have missed watching this show.

‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ Actor Sarah Yarkin & ‘Outer Banks’ Breakout Nicholas Cirillo Join Thriller ‘The Silence Game’
Image
Sarah Yarkin (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Nicholas Cirillo (Outer Banks) have signed on to star in The Silence Game, a psychological thriller written and directed by John Rosman (New Life).

Currently filming in New Mexico, the film follows a disillusioned young man who, after following a mysterious woman into a camp of outsiders, falls under the influence of a charismatic leader preaching virtue in “The Silence Game,” an unnerving game with simple but terrifying rules. As the ideology takes a darker turn, he must grapple with its intoxicating philosophy before it spirals into something far more sinister.

Cirillo is currently in Hulu’s Murdaugh Murders and just wrapped production for the upcoming Black Mirror. He appeared last year with Natasha Lyonne in Rian Johnson’s Poker Face for Peacock and Netflix’s Outer Banks.

Yarkin currently stars in Paramount+’s series School Spirits, which just received its Season 3 renewal. Her...

‘The Studio’ Review: Seth Rogen Crafts a Rich Satire of the Hollywood Machine
Image
Is there a major comic actor who purely loves movies more than Seth Rogen?

In Hollywood history, there may be comedians with better track records. But it’s hard to think of anyone who seems so excited to be making cinema, whether enlisting David Gordon Green to bring both indie lyricism and ’80s action-comedy violence into the stoner buddy comedy “Pineapple Express” or staging a full-scale apocalypse with dozens of stars playing themselves in “This Is the End,” his directorial debut alongside longtime creative partner Evan Goldberg.

Now Rogen and Goldberg, alongside co-creators Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory and Frida Perez have undertaken one of their most ambitious projects yet with “The Studio.” It’s a satire of the contemporary and constantly imperiled Hollywood machine, shot in richly cinematic textures and a series of uninterrupted takes, featuring an ensemble packed with both stars in major roles and in playing-themselves cameos. Naturally,...

Variety has learned that Netflix has ordered the drama series “Nemesis,” which is co-created by Kemp and Tani Marole in his series writing debut. The official logline for the series states:

“‘Nemesis’ is the story of two men on either side of the law, the tale of what happens when an unstoppable force (an expert criminal) meets an immovable object (a brilliant police detective). What starts as a series that aims to subvert the heist genre at every turn, amped with thrilling life-or-death stakes, family dynamics and explosive action, actually gives birth to an exploration of what drives us, sustains us, and ultimately destroys us.”

“Tani and I are excited to bring a hard-hitting psychological crime drama to Netflix, specific in location, but broad in universal themes of right and wrong, love and loss, and loyalty vs self-preservation,...

"I Made It More Darkly Comic": 'Animal Farm' Writer Teases the New Dynamic of Andy Serkis' Upcoming Film Adaption [Exclusive]
Image
After just releasing his new romantic-comedy film You're Cordially Invited at Prime Video, Nicholas Stoller still has a busy year ahead of him. Season 2 of Platonic, his hit Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen series with Francesca Delbanco, is set to return to Apple TV+ with more friendly humor later this year. But before that, he'll take a trip to Animal Farm, as Andy Serkis's much-anticipated adaptation of the timeless George Orwell novel finally releases. Stoller was in charge of penning the final script for the political satire, helping to finally get the project over the finish line after Serkis and Rupert Wyatt began crafting it years ago. It was a one-of-a-kind opportunity that let him work alongside an artist he respects greatly and give the 1945 novel a modern update with a new approach.

From 'Severance' to 'Shrinking': 7 must-watch Apple TV+ shows
Image
There’s never been a better time to be an Apple TV+ subscriber.

I may be an outie, but “Severance” is still one of my favorite shows of the last few years (not sure what my innie thinks?) and I am So pumped it’s back. It took me a while to get to it (my wife and I just watched the first episode of Season 2 last night), but it did not disappoint. It’s a wonderful feeling to be back at work with Mark, Helly, Irving and Dylan – even the imposing Mr. Milchick gave me a smile. Now, Apple TV+ has been gaining ground for some time, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite streamers for high-end TV shows. With that in mind, here’s a list of my picks for the top 7 TV shows to stream on Apple TV+ right now.

"Such a Different Process With Comedy": Rose Byrne Gives a Friendly Update About 'Platonic' Season 2 [Exclusive]
Image
It’s been nearly two years since the first season of the Apple TV+ series Platonic got friendly with viewers, and more than a year since the network revealed that the Francesca Delbanco and Nicholas Stoller-created series had been renewed for a second season. Since then, updates have been scarce, aside from news back in September that revealed the casting of Saturday Night Live alumni, Aidy Bryant, Beck Bennett, and Kyle Mooney. Thankfully, series star Rose Byrne was happy to drop some additional information about the comedy’s highly-anticipated return while chatting with Collider’s Steve Weintraub over the weekend at The Sundance Film Festival. The pair met up to discuss all things Byrne’s latest feature, the Mary Bronstein-helmed comedy-drama, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, when the Platonic co-lead spilled the tea about how everything was chugging along for the Apple TV+ series’ follow-up season.

‘You’re Cordially Invited’ Review: No Need to RSVP for Disappointing Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell Affair
Image
If ever there were a season in need of some lighthearted escapism, this winter would surely be it. So audiences may well embrace Amazon’s wedding comedy, “You’re Cordially Invited” — streaming on Prime January 30th — as the equivalent of fast-food comfort. It’s familiar, it goes down easy, and you barely have to make an effort. But when it’s over, you’ll either instantly forget it or wonder why you’ve got such a sour taste in your mouth.

The most surprising thing about this by-the-numbers comedy, in fact, is that it comes to us from writer-director Nicholas Stoller. He updated Kermit & Co. so delightfully in “The Muppets,” tartly reconceived the revenge rom-com with “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” and scored on the small screen with both “Platonic” and the updated “Goosebumps.”

So it’s tempting to assume that Stoller’s participation here is akin to that of a franchise owner: he set up shop,...

Will Ferrell’s ‘You’re Cordially Invited’ Is A Victim of Marketing Malpractice
Image
Last week, I mentioned to a couple of friends that I was going to a press screening for You’re Cordially Invited, the trailer for which came out last month.

One commented that they hoped everyone in attendance had gotten high to survive it. The other said simply that it looked really bad. In that it’s a straight-to-streaming romcom — it drops on Prime Video this Thursday — I could see why they were apprehensive. My concern bloomed into alarm when I walked into the theater and found myself confronted by a full-screen image of the poster, which depicts a horrified Reese Witherspoon looking on as a muddy Will Ferrell wrestles an alligator. Then I had a great time watching a film that was almost entirely unrecognizable from its representation in its promotional materials. I am here to tell you You’re Cordially Invited has been done So dirty by its marketing team...

Will Ferrell Talks Balancing Heart and Humor With Reese Witherspoon in ‘You’re Cordially Invited’
Image
Amazon Prime Video‘s newest dream team, Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon, have teased audiences with what to expect from their upcoming comedy You’re Cordially Invited.

Launching on the streamer worldwide Jan. 30, the movie from writer-director Nicholas Stoller follows Jim (Ferrell) overseeing his daughter’s wedding and Margot (Witherspoon) her younger sister’s. But things go more than awry when the ceremonies are accidentally double-booked into the same — and intimate — wedding venue on an Atlanta island.

“You can expect a rollercoaster ride,” said the comedy king, who was most recently the subject of a Netflix road-trip documentary with long-time friend Harper Steele. Ferrell spoke alongside his new co-star Witherspoon at a London preview of the film Thursday night. “Nick here came up with an amazing premise and in some ways, it feels quite familiar.”

“There are a lot of wedding movies,” he continued, “but this was just really interesting and...

Goosebumps: The Vanishing's Letterman & Winston On Anthology Season, Casting David Schwimmer & Choosing Books
Image
Rob Letterman and Hilary Winston are taking their R.L. Stine-based hit show in a new direction with Goosebumps: The Vanishing. Letterman, whose history with the franchise goes back to directing the 2015 Jack Black-led movie adaptation of the horror novels, co-developed the show with Nicholas Stoller, whose filmography ranges from helming the fan-favorite comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall to co-creating and directing the acclaimed Apple TV+ comedy show Platonic. Winston, whose producorial career took off with My Name is Earl, was a co-showrunner with Letterman and Stoller on season 1 and is now sole showrunner on the new season.

Goosebumps: The Vanishing shifts the focus away from the season 1 finale and to New York City, putting its focus on botanist and single father Anthony as his twin teen children come to stay with him for the summer. Anthony, having been focused on discovering the answers to his brother's disappearance when they were teenagers,...

Peacock has lined up the two leads for its limited series The Good Daughter.

Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy will lead the drama, which is based on a novel by Karin Slaughter (who is also writing every episode of the series). Byrne will also be an executive producer.

The Good Daughter scored a straight-to-series order at Peacock in March, with Jessica Biel attached to star. Biel departed the project in September; Fahy is taking on the role Biel had been set to play.

The series centers on two sisters, Charlotte (Byrne) and Samantha (Fahy) Quinn, who have spent the last 28 years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by a single night of violence. When another attack splinters the small town of Pikeville, Charlotte is the first witness on the scene. And during a recent conversation with Vanity Fair, Goldberg and Rogen opened up about the process of making The Studio and how personal it all was for them. Quick Links Platonic Season 2 Latest News Platonic Season 2 Is Confirmed Platonic Season 2 Cast Platonic Season 2 Story Details Platonic Season 2: Further News & Info

Apple TV+'s limited comedy series Platonic is returning for more episodes, and there are already exciting updates about season 2 of the Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne hit. Premiering in mid-2023, the series follows lifelong friends Sylvia (Byrne) and Will (Rogen) as they reconnect only to find that their platonic friendship is consuming their lives. Eschewing the typical romantic formula, Platonic hinges on the comedic chemistry between its leads for a sharp and witty look at modern friendships.

Upon release, the series was met with positive praise from critics, who applauded the commitment to the themes and the performances of Rogen and Byrne (via Rotten Tomatoes). There aren't many platonic relationships on TV, and the series' reluctance to bring romance into the equation makes it as daring as it is humorous.
