Even though it's understandable if you lost track of Platonic, since it's been nearly two years since the comedy first premiered on Apple TV+, the series finally has a season 2 release date! Last month, the streaming service teased that the show would make its highly anticipated return this summer, Apple made good on that promise and revealed Platonic season 2 premieres on Wednesday, Aug. 6.

Per Apple TV+'s press release, Platonic season 2 will release two episodes on Aug. 6, and the 10-episode season will continue with weekly episodes through the season finale on Oct. 1. By the time the comedy series makes its return in August, over two years will have passed since May 2023 premiere, but at least we'll have a full 10-episode season rather than a shortened season.

“Platonic” Season 2 will debut on Apple TV+ later this summer.

The second installment of the Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne-led series will premiere Wednesday, Aug. 6, the streamer announced Tuesday. The first two episodes of the ten-episode season will debut on Aug. 6 with new episodes dropping every Wednesday until Oct. 1.

In the date announcement, Rogen’s Will and Byrne’s Sylvia can be seen riding in the back of a golf cart to a group of golfers. While both Will and Sylvia are beginners, Will takes a big swing — that ends up hitting their friend smack in the eye, leading the entire group to spiral.

Who’s ready for a sequel to the “Kool-Aid” movie? “The Studio,” Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s hit satire that has captured Hollywood’s attention for its scarily on-the-nose depiction of the film industry, has been renewed for a second season by Apple TV+, the streamer announced Tuesday.

The renewal for Season 2 of “The Studio” arrives just before the airing of Episode 8 this Wednesday evening on Apple TV+, and the first season has two more episodes after that. This week will see Rogen’s studio head Matt Remick try to get Zoë Kravitz to thank him in her Golden Globes awards acceptance speech.

“We’re thrilled to be making a second season of ‘The Studio.’ We’re looking forward to taking the lived experience of making Season 1 and immediately putting it into Season 2, then repeating that loop for ten more seasons,” said creators and executive producers Rogen and Goldberg.

After just releasing his new romantic-comedy film You're Cordially Invited at Prime Video, Nicholas Stoller still has a busy year ahead of him. Season 2 of Platonic, his hit Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen series with Francesca Delbanco, is set to return to Apple TV+ with more friendly humor later this year. But before that, he'll take a trip to Animal Farm, as Andy Serkis's much-anticipated adaptation of the timeless George Orwell novel finally releases. Stoller was in charge of penning the final script for the political satire, helping to finally get the project over the finish line after Serkis and Rupert Wyatt began crafting it years ago. It was a one-of-a-kind opportunity that let him work alongside an artist he respects greatly and give the 1945 novel a modern update with a new approach.

I may be an outie, but “Severance” is still one of my favorite shows of the last few years (not sure what my innie thinks?) and I am So pumped it’s back. It took me a while to get to it (my wife and I just watched the first episode of Season 2 last night), but it did not disappoint. It’s been nearly two years since the first season of the Apple TV+ series Platonic got friendly with viewers, and more than a year since the network revealed that the Francesca Delbanco and Nicholas Stoller-created series had been renewed for a second season. Since then, updates have been scarce, aside from news back in September that revealed the casting of Saturday Night Live alumni, Aidy Bryant, Beck Bennett, and Kyle Mooney. Thankfully, series star Rose Byrne was happy to drop some additional information about the comedy’s highly-anticipated return while chatting with Collider’s Steve Weintraub over the weekend at The Sundance Film Festival. If ever there were a season in need of some lighthearted escapism, this winter would surely be it. So audiences may well embrace Amazon’s wedding comedy, “You’re Cordially Invited” — streaming on Prime January 30th — as the equivalent of fast-food comfort. It’s familiar, it goes down easy, and you barely have to make an effort. But when it’s over, you’ll either instantly forget it or wonder why you’ve got such a sour taste in your mouth.

The most surprising thing about this by-the-numbers comedy, in fact, is that it comes to us from writer-director Nicholas Stoller. He updated Kermit & Co. so delightfully in “The Muppets,” tartly reconceived the revenge rom-com with “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” and scored on the small screen with both “Platonic” and the updated “Goosebumps.”

Letterman, whose history with the franchise goes back to directing the 2015 Jack Black-led movie adaptation of the horror novels, co-developed the show with Nicholas Stoller, whose filmography ranges from helming the fan-favorite comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall to co-creating and directing the acclaimed Apple TV+ comedy show Platonic. Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy will lead the drama, which is based on a novel by Karin Slaughter (who is also writing every episode of the series). Byrne will also be an executive producer.

The Good Daughter scored a straight-to-series order at Peacock in March, with Jessica Biel attached to star. Biel departed the project in September; Fahy is taking on the role Biel had been set to play.

Will Ferrell is set to take on the world of televised courtroom justice.

Ferrell is set to star for director Nicholas Stoller in the comedy feature Judgment Day, which is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios. Stoller also penned the screenplay.

Judgment Day centers on a young convict who gets out of prison and takes an unscripted TV courtroom hostage, as he is convinced that the TV judge (Ferrell) delivered a ruling that destroyed his life.

Serving as producers are Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alex Brown for Gloria Sanchez Productions and Stoller for Stoller Global Solutions.

Ferrell can soon be seen opposite Reese Witherspoon in Amazon MGM’s movie You’re Cordially Invited, which Stoller directed. The wedding comedy co-stars Geraldine Viswanathan and Jimmy Tatro and begins streaming via Prime Video on Jan. 30.
