Traci Lords can almost act in this one. She's pretty good and so are the two other stars, Crystal Shaw and Harrison LeDuke. Even though most the dead chicks can't act, it's fun to watch their attempts at acting and dying. The girl in the bathtub is a pretty good actress, too.
There' actually strong dialog in this film; but the director, clearly frustrated with an incredibly low budget, has waffled between making a mystery or an intense, dramatic character study. The film can't be both, so it ends up neither.
what we are left with is one long sequence of dialog after another; and while I've admitted some of it is quite strong - this when it's all character study - the 'mystery movie' scenes are incredibly badly handled, and the dialog in these scenes is just wretched. And they talk, and they talk, and they talk; and when they're supposed to do something physical - they talk some more.
Harrison Le Duke is good in the role of weary, morally confused protagonist, but the rest of the acting just stinks. The rest of the film (camera, editing, lighting, sound) - all sub-professional.
Stay away.

Although Laser Moon's exposure of female nudity seems a little too much, I think this movie perfect for one of these dreadful long distance flights. It entertains throughout, has its tense built up well. Its plot is easy to understand, and never touches any deep issue. Built around a nightly radio program, Laser Moon's story ends with Traci Lords killing a murderer. Traci does not really stand out here, only giving an average performance. The most memorable role in Laser Moon comes from the girl with the long brown curly hair, harassing the radio-operator.
Laser Moon is not a movie to make a run for, but when it falls in your lap it certainly isn't bad either.

I was rather surprised at two things in this movie: 1) that someone bothered to make this & 2) Traci Lords.
The theme is typical for a B movie mystery. Acting, writing, directing, etc.. . all mediocre. The real surprise, and only thing of any value at all, is Traci Lords. She doesn't have a role of much significance, but without exotic clothes or make-up and no particular image to portray, it was surprising how comfortable & appealing she seems to be. And she is really quite attractive.

That's exactly what Traci Lords' character says at one point, and although it is a totally random moment (maybe Traci improvised?), I have to agree with her. This movie really sucks. Extremely low production values, poor sound recording (there are entire sentences that cannot be heard), funereal pace, inept direction, insultingly illogical script, mediocre performances, and misleading marketing (promoting Traci Lords as the lead, when in fact she is clearly a secondary character and barely even appears during the first 30 minutes) make "Laser Moon" one of the absolute worst films I've seen in a while. Thriller fans, as well as Traci fans, are advised to steer clear of it. 0 out of 4 stars.
