Firstly you don't need to be a hip hop fan to enjoy this show. I'm English, I'm white and I'm over 50 so I'm probably as far removed from the "stereotypical" target demographic you can get. This show is brilliant, it's a genuine drama that shows just how hard it must be to actually break through even if you have the talent the members of Wu-Tang Clan have.
Obviously I've no idea how close to the truth this story is, what's been left out or what's been added in creatively to enhance the overall story. But if even half of this is true then it's an incredible story.
The show doesn't have a single bad actor in it, everyone brings the character they play to life and despite the fact that at the start of the show the individuals aren't exactly "good" you get the sense that the criminal activities were more of a situation of circumstance rather than wanting to be gangsters.
You can tell I like this show, I know how enthusiastic I must sound but trust me it's worth the hype. I'm just at the end of season 2 and I truly hope we get another season.
Let's hope the actors that have brought Wu-Tang Clan to the screen so brilliantly all go on the have huge careers.

Season 1 was great! But a little hard to decipher who is who. It becomes quite obvious who RZA, Gostface, Meth, and Raekwon are. Very gritty and the rap scenes near the end of season 1 are sick.
Season 2... WTF did they do to Bobby's voice? It's completely ruined my experience; every scene with RZA/Bobby is cringe-worthy. I'm only 4 episodes into season 2, and having trouble because of how they manipulated Bobby's voice. It is bothering me so much, tgat I feel the need to come online and post about it. RZA is a musical genius and one of my heroes in life, but he sure screwed this up.
Anyway, can't wait to see how it evolves.

I've personally met Ghostface and Raekwon together. I would never thought there journey with one another started out the way it did.
Who's who: D-Love - Ghostface Killah, Sha - Raekwon, Ason/Unique - ODB, Shotgun - Method Man, Gary/Allah Justice - GZA, Bobby - RZA

Wow, just finished episode three and I gotta say, this show stands on it's own merits. Granted, its not The Wire but the story would be interesting whether or not it was the origin of Wu-Tang (artistic license aside). That being said, if you know your lore and the players on the board this show is nothing short of a treat. Will it reach a wider audience? Time will tell but I sure hope so.
Wu-Tang's legacy is one of the best rap groups ever created (actually one of the best groups ever regardless of genre) and this show tells the amazing and powerful story of how they became the legends they are! You don't even have to be a fan to like this show but if you are then it's just that much better!
