This 2020 movie's low IMDb rating should have been taken seriously. Yeah, I know. But still, I opted to sit down to watch "The Jonestown Haunting", as it is a movie that I hadn't already seen. And it being presented with a rather interesting cover, of course I was interested.
I should have avoided this one, mark my words.
This movie was boring, hands down. And truth be told, it was in fact the movie's cover that was the most interesting part about the entire ordeal. And that cover actually didn't really have much to do with the contents of the movie, so talk about false advertisement.
"The Jonestown Haunting" is about a survivor's repressed memories and dark thoughts of having survived the Jonestown massacre. And yeah, it does sound like it could be interesting, except writers Andrew Jones and Sharron Jones managed to turn 1 hour and 25 minutes into absolutely nothing. Trust me, this movie was so pointless and boring that you could watch the first 15 minutes, then leave and come back for the last 15 minutes, and you would still be up to speed with events in the movie.
The storyline in "The Jonestown Haunting" was just horribly boring, mundane and pointless. I was sorely disappointed with what this movie turned out to be.
As for the acting in the movie, well it wasn't award-winning material, nor was it abysmal performances either. I suppose the acting was adequate enough, taking into consideration the limitations imposed with an inferior script and storyline.
I watched the movie because I wanted to be entertained and watch something interesting. Turns out that "The Jonestown Haunting" was neither of those things. So take heed.
My rating of "The Jonestown Haunting" lands on a two out of ten stars.

When there are classics on offer like the robert the doll series or even pumpkin jake. I thought this horror movie about jonestown would be pretty decent, but sadly it lacks anything that could make it a good film. To start with it ends abruptly just when it was actually getting interesting and there are no horror elements on offer with this one at all. The movie is all about this girl called sarah that escapes from the cult and goes back ten years later. The guy playing the paster did pretty good and even sarah was nice, who has been in other andrew films. Overall a bit of a underwelming film thats too short. But the cast did their best and they were atleast enjoyable to watch.
Upon seeing the cover of "The Jonestown Haunting," one might expect a truly frightening experience with plenty of jump scares. However, the film fails to deliver on this promise. The confusion arises from its unclear direction; it is neither a genuinely terrifying horror film nor a documentary-style recount of the tragic Jonestown and Georgetown Temple Agricultural Project incident. This film lacks of coherence and fails to establish a clear identity and for some strange reason most of these low-budget productions proven evidence in limited special effects and the overuse of stock footage, which detracts from any potential suspense or fear. This is a film that potentially should aim more in the direction of a documentary, "The Jonestown Haunting" fails to capitalize on the gravity and significance of the Georgetown Temple Agricultural Project incident. This story is of immense historical importance, yet the film neglects to delve into the wealth of information available to make the production of the film more promising. The overlooks crucial details and fails to honor the complexity of the Jonestown story. Absolutely sad!!!
Whew! I went into this film with a slight expectation of maybe being entertained or hopefully have a scare or two. Oh boy was I wrong! This film is absolutely terrible... Why? Answer: Very-very bad acting, filming, music, dialogue, story line, music, sound effects, locations and plot. I am actually shaking my head typing this review, wondering what the heck I was thinking watching this dismal excuse of a so called film. Ag no man! This scores a So-So-Very-Very-BAD! -2000 out of 10!
EEEEEK! You have been warned! GAWD!!!

- CuriosidadesThe Peoples Temple Agricultural Project, better known by its informal name "Jonestown", was a remote settlement established by The People's Temple, a cult under the leadership of Reverend Jim Jones, in northwestern Guyana. On November 18th, 1978, a total of 918 people died at the settlement, at the airstrip in Port Kaituma, and at a Temple-run building in Georgetown, Guyana's capital city. It was the largest single loss of American civilian life in a deliberate act until September 11, 2001.
