I grew up in Southern Spain. My dialect is different however I can understand Madrid Spanish very well. It seems that the sound people speeded up the dialog. The actors are good but they speak so fast that it's hard to follow. Bad voice mixing.
Another great Spanish show from Atresmedia. I was hooked from the first episode, something that didn't happen to me with Velvet or Chicas del Cable. The character of Guillermo Rojas is multidimensional and you learn more about him each episode. Although I am a fan of popular actresses like Blanca Suarez, Amaia Salamanca, and Marta Hazas, it was nice to see a fresh face like Guiomar Puerta as Maribel. I had never heard of Carlos Cuevas before either, but he did a great job as Robert. Maribel and Robert are similar to the main couples you may see in many Spanish shows, but their performances won't leave you bored. The visuals were very creative-I like the split screen effect they often use. I'll admit that I wasn't expecting to her songs like "Hey Soul Sister", "Let Her Go", or "Bad Romance" in a show that's supposed to be set in 1962. It would've been cool if they created songs just for this show or used songs from that time period, but overall their music choices weren't too distracting. Definitely give this a shot, even if you aren't usually into Spanish shows. In the US, shows just don't have this kind of vibe.
The acting in this show is pretty good but the bad guys: Record company head honcho, card juror, bride-to-be's mom are very hammy. I like the story and interesting characters but the music choices are cheesy and too 21st century to work in this 60's format (WTF Hey Soul Sister & Let Her Go!) it's a shame producers didn't follow 'Velvet' series to create almost authentic, original music from that era. I'm on episode 4 but feeling addicted enough to binge-watch the whole lot. Spanish dramas are the best.
I'm sure Madrid has an amazing music history from the time of the revolution - but there was no evidence of this here. The choice of cigarettes and even the furniture gave it all away.
Didn't feel anything from this quasi-"period drama": characters were weak, storyline vacant, and styling/aesthetic was a disaster- at least they could have placed budget on authentic hairstyling and wardrobe - but it felt like a poor effort of a fancy dress party in Marbella...
Music is a powerful narrative, and I'm disappointed that the first episode wasn't held together by an astounding soundtrack from the era.
Even I noticed the mum's haircut was totally out of place.. and in the 60s, they didn't speak like this.. the script is too artificial- and that's coming from a giri..
Maybe it's SGAE, maybe it's the labels or maybe I've just seen too many good quality period dramas on Netflix... but this didn't hit the spot
Pa the Yamaha logo on the piano in episode 2 is classic rookie error

I consider it is a very vast series, that has the music on its centre. You see how Spain during Franco's dictatorship was, how that influenced in the concert's rooms, on the radio with the censorship or with Eurovision contest... However, the richest is the relation between Robert-Maribel-Guillermo, that creates the opportunity to progress to others stories equally interesting, with others characters developed, has Zabala, Ángeles, Fanny, Maribel's family, etc.
It is curious to understand the differences between Maribel's and Robert's familiar context, or the interventions of the government, or the action of the music enterprises with Mr. Alfredo e Mr. Vidal.
Everything it is related with music, and the music is the centre of this narrative that shows how to follow your dreams, to love intensely, the importance of have really true friends, and never forget the love to rock and roll!

- CuriosidadesAlthough the show is set in the early 1960s, the songs performed by Robert are all from later decades, icluding songs by Lady Gaga, REM, Maroon 5, among others.
