Prime Video ha dado luz verde a su nueva película original española Todo Arde, adaptación cinematográfica del bestseller de Juan Gómez-Jurado. La película, que acaba de iniciar su rodaje en Madrid, llevará a la pantalla la primera entrega de la trilogía superventas.

En Todo arde, Aura Reyes está a punto de ir a la cárcel por un delito que no ha cometido. Era inversora en un banco, toda una tiburona, y ahora se la han comido. Le cabrea haber sido víctima de una injusticia, y todavía más dejar solas a sus gemelas de diez años. Pero el único plan que se le ocurre para quedar libre es un delirio con muchas papeletas de salir mal: atracar un casino clandestino. Aura sabe que no puede hacerlo sola.

Spanish public broadcaster Rtve, alongside Mediacrest and Mediacrest El Clásico Aie, will tease the highly anticipated Spanish police procedural “Internal Affairs” (“Asuntos Internos”) at Berlinale’s Series Market Select showcase Spanish Thrillers, organized by Iberseries & Platino Industria.

The buzz title, created by Pedro García Ríos and Rodrigo Martín Antoranz, follows Clara, among the first female detectives in Spain, after she’s accepted to a seedy Madrid precinct just as a heroin becomes readily available in Spain.

A fresh-faced and naive young new hire, her empathy and moral compass fast prove a detriment as she navigates the tough demeanor of her male peers with her unquenchable thirst for a justice predicated on equity, a fair shake.

Directed by María Togores (“Entre tierras”) and Samantha López Speranza (“No Traces”), the series jolts to an adrenaline-filled start as Clara lies breathless in the back of an ambulance-being rushed to the hospital after being attacked.

This week, there have been big changes in the global entertainment business across streaming platforms and production companies, with big announcements coming from several countries.

“The Road Trip,” a new love comedy show from Paramount+, will start on December 26 in the UK, Canada, and Australia. People say the show will be funny and romantic, like old movies like “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” and “One Day.” The show is about a holiday romance that gets renewed and stars Emma Appleton, Laurie Davidson, and other great players.

Prime Video’s drama “Reina Roja” (Red Queen) is going forward with its second season in Spain. The new season is based on Juan Gómez-Jurado’s series of books. ‘The Road Trip’ Teaser On The Road At Paramount+

First-look images (above) and a teaser trailer have been released for The Road Trip, the Paramount+ rom-com launching on the streamer in the UK, Canada and Australia. December 26 has been pencilled in for a debut in those countries. The rom-com series about a camper van ride in Spain stars Emma Appleton, Laurie Davidson, David Jonsson, Isabella Laughland and Angus Imrie, and explores whether someone can be the right person but at the wrong time. The trailer reveals the love affair between Addie (Appleton) and Dylan (Davidson), which began two years before as a holiday romance before ending. Paramount claims the show has “all the fun of Planes, Trains and Automobiles and the romantic yearning of One Day.” Ryan O’Sullivan and Matilda Wnek wrote and created the show, with Miriam Brent, Eleanor Moran and Rory Aitken the executive producers. 42 is making The Road Trip...

ViX+, the fledgling Spanish-language SVOD from TelevisaUnivision, is dipping into literary classics once more with the modern retelling of Alexandre Dumas’ popular revenge tale, “The Count of Monte Cristo.”

The news follows the Jan. 20 bow of ViX+’s Anna Karenina adaptation, “Volver a Caer” with Kate del Castillo. Last year, ViX+ unveiled an adaptation of Nobel Prize laureate Mario Vargas Llosa’s “Travesuras de la Niña Mala” (“Bad Girl”).

In an exclusive first look, ViX+ unveils footage of the six-part series, simply titled “Montecristo,” with William Levy (“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter”) playing the enigmatic lead.

Produced by Spain’s Secouya Studios, “Montecristo” follows Alejandro Montecristo, a mysterious figure whose past and considerable fortune are unknown. Filmax has acquired international rights to “Amazing Elisa,” the newest title from Spanish director and fantastic festival name-stay Sadrac González-Perellón.

The Barcelona-based boutique studio will screen a promo of “Amazing Elisa” during this week’s 2021 Ventana Sur market.

The pick-up sees Filmax returning, this time as just as a sales agent, to the auteur genre fare which built it a global reputation from the turn of the century with breakout hits such as 1999’s “The Nameless” and 2007’s “[Rec].”

Spanish-language genre fare has returned to market favor after “The Platform” bowed on Netflix last-year, becoming the U.S. streaming giant’s most-watched foreign-language movie.

Set to launch in Europe later this year, HBO Max has bolstered its originals pipeline with the announcement of “García!” a new series to be produced in Spain based on the popular graphic novel of the same name by authors Santiago García and Luis Bustos.

Miguel Salvat, Steve Matthews and Antony Root, the trio behind HBO España’s fan-favorite horror thriller “30 Coins” from Spanish maestro Alex de la Iglesia, are teaming once again as executive producers on the six-hour series.

“’García!’ is a project with enormous narrative and epic visual ambition. The tiniest details combine to become an action-packed adventure series, sometimes honoring the great genre traditions, but sometimes blowing them up. In ‘García!’ whilst we see a Spain that has changed somewhat in the last few decades, some elements remain the same,” said Salvat.

Ventana Sur: FilmSharks has licensed Latin American and Spanish rights to Disney for its upcoming $6m Argentina-Spain co-production about the Pontiff.

Pablo Bossi is producing Francisco, the first officially endorsed biography of the living Pope based on Elisabetta Pique’s biography Francisco Vida Y Revolucion.

Beda Docampo Feijoo, whose credits include Crazy Loves and Quiéreme, will direct from his adapted screenplay.

Dario Grandinetti, the Argentinean actor whose credits include Talk To Her and Argentinean smash and foreign language Oscar submission Wild Tales, will play the Argentine-born Pope Francis aka Jorge Mario Bergoglio. Grandinetti is pictured at left meeting Pope Francis.

Rounding out the key cast are Silvia Abascal, Jorge Marrale, Carlos Hipolito, Leonor Manso, Laura Novoa and Leticia Bredice.

Production on the Spanish-language biopic is scheduled to kick off in Buenos Aires on January 12 and continue in Madrid and Rome.

The two movies will go head-to-head at the end of January in the Best Film and Best Director categories.
