Like all good children of immigrants, Charlene Kaye greets me with a gift. The shirt is emblazoned with neon-pink lightning, the title of her comedy show, Tiger Daughter, in a Def Leppard font, and a collage of images — including a photo of her mother, Lily, well, naked as the day she was born.
“These are nude portraits that my mother made of herself. This is my mother’s shadow looming over me,” Kaye explains, dragging her nails over the collage. “When I was making this, it was so funny, because...

Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen has opened up about being violently assaulted outside a Florida hotel two years ago, revealing that he’s still coping with the trauma of the attack.
Allen appeared on SiriusXM’s “Trunk Nation” on April 17th and discussed the reason why he opted to not exhibit his artwork on this year’s Monsters of Rock cruise.

“I’ve been going through some challenging times, kind of related to what happened in Florida,” Allen told host Eddie Trunk (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). “And that whole thing is kind of ongoing, when I got beaten up outside the hotel [there]. So I’ve been trying to deal with that the best that I can, and really I just needed to take a break from some of the side projects that I was busy with, just so I could spend more time at home.

There’s no easier way to piss off a headbanger than by calling Ghost a metal band. As songs like the Abba-meets-Def Leppard “Spillways” and disco-leaning “Dance Macabre” have proven, they’re a pop group with a penchant for pentagrams. The Swedish band’s reliance on Satanic theatrics and elaborate lore—such as the way they represent a “clergy” bringing about the birth of the antichrist—can feel, well, a bit silly. But they possess the rare ability to write songs that, upon first listen, sound like familiar favorites.
Starting with 2018’s Prequelle, though, Ghost began drawing influence less from ’70s hard rock and more from ’80s Aor bands like Journey, and the transition hasn’t suited them. Their sixth studio album, Skeletá, suffers from wearyingly similar production, with vocals consistently at the front of the mix and the same guitar and synthesizer sounds repeated throughout.

Def Leppard are sending love to Los Angeles as the city recovers from devastating wildfires that claimed multiple lives and displaced thousands. The band’s cover of Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me,” guitarist Phil Collen shared, “is a tribute to resilience, unity and hope.” Proceeds from the charity single will benefit FireAid, the non-profit organization raising funds for immediate relief efforts and long-term initiatives to take preventative measures against fire disasters in Southern California.
“In times of devastation, standing together is more important than ever,” Collen said in a statement.

May 3, 2025 is the first Saturday of the month of May, and many geek bibliophiles - or, more accurately, "Pannapictagraphists" - have that day circled. It's Free Comic Book Day. This year promises to be one of its most significant to date.
Most recently, DC Comics entered the fray by confirming its Free Comic Book Day (Fcbd) line-up and sharing about the preeminent Dan Slott's upcoming Superman Unlimited. The quill behind Amazing Spider-Man in 2014 and 2016's Eisner-winning Silver Surfer No. 11 is partnering with DC and Jim Lee to help James Gunn and Peter Safran make 2025 Kal-El's biggest year since, well...since you know when with that "cut" thingamajig.
That announcement helped bolster the news about the reinvention of the label's major heroes and villains called DC All In, which is coming this fall. The other labels also have some offerings for true comic fans. Let's review what we will see on the shelves this summer.

Peacock's supernatural horror series, Hysteria!, introduces viewers to the show and one of its main actors, Jessica Treska, who plays Judith.
Hysteria! (which is unironically the title of Def Leppard's most popular album (and one of its most popular songs)) follows a high school heavy metal band that uses the Satanic Panic movement of the 1980s to build its reputation after the football team's quarterback goes missing.
All eight episodes of the show premiered on Peacock on October 18, and even though the series was just released, Hysteria showrunner and creator Matthew Scott Kane is already hoping that it will last four seasons.

When Phil Collen was growing up in London in the 1960s, comic books weren’t as popular as they were in the U.S. But the Def Leppard guitarist was a fan anyway. “Some of the news agents would sell these American comics, and I used to just load up on them,” the 66-year-old tells Rolling Stone via phone from his California home. “I’ve actually got The Silver Surfer No. 1. I’ve still got The Incredible Hulk No. 3 and early Batman stuff, all from the Sixties.”

Journey’s current stadium tour with Def Leppard became a little less awkward Thursday as band mates Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon reached a legal solution in their court battle involving the group’s credit card.
Back in November 2022, Schon sued Cain, saying he refused to give him access to the group’s American Express card and its records. Cain, in turn, accused Schon of “running up enormous personal charges on the band’s credit card account” due to “tremendous financial pressure as a result of his excessive spending.”

As Journey continues its stadium tour with Def Leppard and Steve Miller, two of its members have finally settled a legal dispute.
Jonathan Cain announced Wednesday that the Delaware Chancery Court has appointed a third independent director, former Vice Chancellor Joseph Slights, for his and bandmate Neal Schon‘s Freedom 2020 business subsidiary.
“Mr. Schon is prohibited from unilaterally acting on behalf of the Company and all future deadlock between Mr. Cain and Mr. Schon will be broken by the vote of the Custodian,” Cain’s legal team shared in a statement. “Mr. Cain is elated with the outcome and looks forward to moving beyond this matter so that Journey can continue the band’s 50th Anniversary Freedom Tour.”
After Schon agreed last week to Cain’s request to appoint a third party tiebreaker to manage the ongoing tour, Cain’s attorney Kasey H. DeSantis accused Schon of “now seeking to...

The legal battle between Journey keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Jonathan Cain and lead guitarist Neal Schon is still going, with the former filing a new lawsuit against the latter for alleged lavish spending at the band’s expense. What makes the ongoing legal issues especially awkward is that both Cain and Schon are active members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame act, currently sharing the stage together on a summer North American tour with Def Leppard.
According to Bloomberg, Cain’s lawsuit, publicly filed on Tuesday (July 30th), alleges that Schon maxed out an American Express credit card with a $1 million limit and blew past a $1,500-per-night hotel allowance, while also chartering private jets and hiring a friend as a security guard. The keyboardist also accuses the guitarist of preventing the band from paying its debts.

As a teen in England, Phil Collen was obsessed with all things American. The music, be it rock or blues, were major influences, but of particular interest to the guitarist of heavy metal glam band Def Leppard were the comics that were being imported into London shops in the 1960s.
It was in these shops that Collen picked up copies of Silver Surfer no.1 by Stan Lee and John Buscema and The Incredible Hulk No. 3 by Lee and Jack Kirby. He still has those copies, stored in a case in his home in London. The Hulk was one of his favorites, as was Batman.
“I really got into the vibe of it and the culture of it,” Collen says on a Zoom from Nashville, where he is taking a short break from Leppard’s circuit as part of the Journey for the Summer Stadium Tour, which also includes acts Cheap...

Heart have been forced to postpone all of their upcoming tour dates in 2024 after Ann Wilson recently underwent a medical procedure to remove “something that, as it turns out, was cancerous.”
“The operation was successful & I’m feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy & I’ve decided to do it,” Wilson explained in a statement. “And so my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover.”
“Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025,” Wilson added. “My team is getting those details sorted & we’ll let you know the plan as soon as we can.”
Wilson did not disclose the type of cancer she has. She concluded her statement by saying, “Respectfully, this is the last public statement I’d like to make on the matter.

A newly released rough mix of “Photograph” from Def Leppard’s archives shows a different side to the Number One rock chart hit. Where the version that came out on Pyromania and dominated rock radio in 1983 finds the band singing “Photograph” and Joe Elliott responding, “I don’t want your … / I don’t need your …” the rough mix has less vocals and more space. It sounds almost like a new wave song with more prominent (and funkier) bass, less reverb, and a lot more jangly guitar in the chorus. The cowbell remains the same.

Don’t stop believin’ in the hysteria.
Megaplatinum rock stalwarts Def Leppard and Journey are gearing up to hit the road for a North American summer stadium tour starting July 6 in St. Louis. The 23-show jaunt runs through September 8 in Denver and will feature fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Steve Miller and his band on the bulk of the dates, with Cheap Trick or Heart on the others.
The trek will hit Citi Field in metro New York on August 7 and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on August 25, both featuring Miller. See the full itinerary below.
The two headliners have toured together over the decades, but this is their first co-starring stadium affair. Def Leppard hit the huge U.S. and Canadian venues in 2022 for a Covid-delayed tour with Mötley Crüe in 2022.
San Francisco-based Journey has moved more than 49 million albums in the U.S. alone, paced by their 15 million-selling 1988 Greatest Hits.
