Beginning with their small wrapped objects of 1958 and culminating with the wrapping of the Reichstag, this portrait examines the continuously bold and ambitious artistic ventures of the enigmatic duo, Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Neither permanent nor purchasable, large scale works, such as Running Fence and Wrapped Coast, exude the essence of freedom and exist only for the sake of existing.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude (1995)
After graduating from school with a high school diploma, Alfred Biolek studied law. Following his doctorate, he worked as a legal advisor at ZDF from 1963 to 1970. From 1970 Biolek worked as a producer for "Bavaria GmbH" in Munich. The programs "Am churning" with Rudi Carrell and "Bios Bahnhof" from 1978 to 1985, which was also moderated by him, were created here. The content of the shows was humorous reports on current topics, with numerous stars and starlets from the media industry being guests. The evening was accompanied by games, music and conversations. For these productions, Biolek was awarded the "Adolf Grimme Prize" in 1983. From 1985 to 1991, the program "Mensch Meier" was broadcast under the moderation of Bioleks.

From 1990 he worked as an honorary professor at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. The successful show "Boulevard Bio" started in late 1991, in which the popular talk show host had conversations with various personalities from art, politics, sports and media in a relaxed and sometimes private atmosphere. From 1994 onwards, Biolek also presented the cooking show "alfredissimo", in which he cooked for his guests and they cooked for him. After 12 years and 485 editions of "Boulevard Bio", the TV presenter stopped his popular talk show on June 11, 2003. However, Biolek continued to stay with the television audience through his cooking show "alfredissimo". Biolek also appeared with his company "Pro GmbH" as a producer for successor Sandra Maischberger, who has occupied the slot of the departed talk show host on ARD since September 2, 2003 with her talk show "People at Maischberger".

He was the first German to be appointed UN Special Ambassador for World Population on November 23, 2000 in New York. His charitable work is dedicated to the AIDS problem in Africa, to help which he founded the "Alfred Biolek Foundation - Help for Africa" in 2005. During his career, Biolek was awarded several prestigious awards, including the "Golden Camera" (1993), the "Bambi" (1994), the "German Book Prize" (2002) and the "Karl Valentin Order" (2003). . In 2008 he was honored with the "Golden Camera" for his life's work. In 2009, Biolek was awarded the German Television Prize - honorary award for his life's work. On July 9, 2009, on the occasion of his 75th birthday, ARD broadcast a gala entitled "Thank you, Bio" from the Cologne E-Werk.
