Boris Sagal(1923-1981)

Boris Sagal was born on 18 October 1923 in Yekaterinoslav, Ukrainian SSR, USSR [now Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine]. He was a director and writer, known for Le survivant (1971), Les règles du jeu (1968) and Le riche et le pauvre (1976). He was married to Marge Champion and Sara Macon. He died on 22 May 1981 in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Coincidentally, his work includes the pilot episode of the TV series Combat! (1962), which starred Vic Morrow. Two decades after collaborating, Sagal and Morrow would die similarly (struck by a helicopter's rotor blade) within a year of each other, while shooting a movie on location. For Sagal, it was La troisième guerre mondiale (1982); for Morrow, it was La Quatrième Dimension (1983). Due to the connection, several fans and journalists referred to this incident as "The Combat Curse".
