Box Office Grosses Won’t Return to Pre-covid Levels Even by 2029, New Report Forecasts
Image
U.S. and global box office and total cinema revenue will not reach pre-covid-19 pandemic levels by 2029, according to accounting firm PwC’s annual closely watched media and entertainment outlook report released late on July 23.

In the U.S., pre-pandemic total cinema revenue is not forecast to be reached by 2029 despite a compound annual growth rate (Cagr) of 3.9 percent. PwC had recorded nearly $11.7 billion in U.S. total cinema revenue in the pre-pandemic year 2019 after $11.8 billion in 2018. The firm projects the figure to rise from $8.9 billion in 2024 and $9.6 billion in 2025 to $10.1 billion in 2026, $10.3 billion in 2027, $10.6 billion in 2028 and $10.8 billion in 2029.

Asked by The Hollywood Reporter about how pre-covid box office levels are not expected to be reached by 2029, Bart Spiegel, PwC global entertainment and media leader, says: “Unfortunately, this full recovery is unlikely within the forecast period. However, we project that by the end of 2029, the industry will be on...

Disney's $1Bn Remake Immediately Beats Its Blockbuster Rival On VoD Charts
Image
Disney started rocky in 2025. One of their most anticipated films, the live-action remake of Snow White, ended up being met with mixed reviews and a lackluster $205.6 million box office gross. The company has also been struggling, even with non-mainline branches. This includes the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*, both of which made significantly less than other franchise films.

Most recently, Disney has also struggled from a Pixar perspective. In June, they released the original sci-fi film Elio. Competing in a busy month at the box office, the animated feature opened to only $20.8 million. Now, it is on the unfortunate track to become the lowest-grossing Pixar movie to get a full theatrical release.

These misfortunes do not tell Disney's full story this year, however. For as much as they have struggled at the box office, they were also behind the first Hollywood movie to...

Mickey vs. Shrek: Inside the Multibillion-Dollar Theme Park War
Image
On May 21, NBCUniversal trotted out stars, drones, fireworks, giant Bellagio-esque water fountains, and narration from Steven Spielberg to officially open its biggest bet yet on immersive experiential entertainment: Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida.

But a few hours before the celebration, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts was still reflecting on what the “proud moment” for his company really meant. Standing on the stairs in Epic’s Atlantic Restaurant, Roberts looked out over the fountains and gardens of Celestial Park, the central hub of the theme park (an estimated 10 years and $7 billion-plus in the making) that connects the “portals” to its themed worlds.

“This is the worst it’s ever going to look,” Roberts said, noting that it wasn’t that long ago when it was just a dirt site a short drive from the Orange County Convention Center. “It is going to mature, and blossom and grow.”

Epic Universe is perhaps the...

Lilo & Stitch Is Now Available on VOD Services Ahead of Streaming Disney+ Release Later This Year
Image
After several misfires, Disney struck chaotic gold this year with Lilo & Stitch, and now lovers of the little blue alien – and there are millions of them – can relive his live-action hijinks at home as the movie is now available on all VOD platforms. The release today, July 22, comes after the movie became the first Disney live-action remake to pass $1 billion at the box office since The Lion King in 2019.

Disney’s live-action remakes of some of their classic animated movies started off well with movies like The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin all proving to be huge box office winners. However, recent years have seen The Little Mermaid and Snow White become bogged down by huge waves of negativity around “woke” casting and other controversial changes. However, Lilo & Stitch has bucked the trend to put Disney back on track – although much of that success is really just...

'Lilo & Stitch' Takes Down Chris Pratt's Sci-Fi Disaster Movie to Make US Box Office History
Image
After Snow White left many feeling the live-action remake trend was dead in the theatrical water, along came two 2025 summer blockbusters to revive it. Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch, directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, and Universal’s How to Train Your Dragon remake have both proven incredibly popular and financially fruitful, with the former becoming Hollywood's first movie of the year to hit the coveted $1 billion mark. However, globally, the Lilo & Stitch remake was surpassed by the near-$2 billion hit Ne Zha 2.

Officially, Lilo & Stitch has accumulated $1.08 billion globally, split between $418 million domestically and a further $590 million from overseas markets. Returning a reported $100 million budget tenfold, Lilo & Stitch is an undeniable success and currently sits at #40 on the list of highest-grossing movies in domestic box office history. To achieve this milestone, another big-budget hit had to fall out of the list, with the unfortunate victim hailing...

Disney Tops the List of 2025’s Most Divisive Movies
Image
The numbers are in, and many Disney fans may not be entirely surprised by the results. GamingToday.com went to work comparing critic and audience scores from Rotten Tomatoes and found that one of the most divisive films of 2025 was none other than the live-action remake of Snow White. Snow White earned about $205,679,463 at the box office, but there was a discrepancy between critics' and fan scores. Snow White garnered a 39% critical score while audiences rated it at 70%, creating a 31% difference of opinion.

Unfortunately for Snow White, the writing was on the wall from the very beginning. There was an intense reaction against the casting of Rachel Zegler in the title role due to racial backlash even before any footage was released. Zegler had already more than proven herself to be a talented performer, specifically in the musical sphere, due to her roles in Steven Spielberg’stragicWest Side Story and...

‘How to Train Your Dragon’ Just Passed the Most Expensive Animated Movie Ever Made at Global Box Office
Image
Having completed a full month of release in theaters worldwide, Universal’s How to Train Your Dragon remake flew towards another global box office milestone. It’s the second-highest-grossing installment of the fan-favorite franchise, having beaten the lifetime global haul of the original animated film, and the series' third installment. It now trails only How to Train Your Dragon 2, whose own remake is already slated for a 2027 release. The movie is inching closer to the $600 million mark at the worldwide box office, reestablishing the audience’s faith in live-action remakes of animated hits, after a string of big-budget films underperformed in recent years.

With $250 million domestically and another $338 million from overseas markets, How to Train Your Dragon has grossed a cumulative total of $589 million worldwide. The movie has most recently passed the lifetime global hauls of past hits, such as the Jason Statham-led The Meg, Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk,...

After His “Woke” 'Superman' Criticism Went Viral, Dean Cain Clarifies His Stance on James Gunn’s New Film [Exclusive]
Image
Dean Cain stood for truth, justice, and the American way as Superman on TV, but he’s now at the center of a very different conversation. After TMZ published comments in which Cain criticized the so-called “woke-ification” of the Man of Steel, headlines spread like wildfire — with many assuming he was attacking James Gunn’sSuperman reboot outright. Now, Cain is setting the record straight.

Speaking at FanX during a panel hosted by Collider’s Maggie Lovitt, Cain clarified the comments by first saying, "I just continually speak what I think is the truth." He proceeded to explain what he really meant when asked about Gunn’s film in recent interviews:

"They were asking me a question about the new movie. I said I haven't seen it. They were asking the question 'How woke will this be or will it be woke?' So they took that quote, stuck it in...

Disney's 'Lilo & Stitch' Remake Breaks Hollywood's Major 2025 Box Office Record
Image
The 2025 live-action remake ofLilo & Stitchhas broken yet another major record. The Disney live-action/animated hybrid based on the 2002 movie of the same name has become the first Hollywood production to pass the $1 billion barrier at the box office. The first spot remains in the hands of the animated film from China, Ne Zha 2, which has grossed $1.8 billion so far. The Asian production holds several records: it is the highest-grossing animated film of all time, the highest-grossing film in a language that's not English, and the fifth highest-grossing film of all time.

However, the House of Mouse has plenty to celebrate right now. Per the report by Variety, Lilo & Stitch became the first movie of 2025 to hit $1 billion at the global box office. The official North American gross stands above $416 million, and the overseas box office earnings register more than $584 million. We're still halfway through 2025 but few releases this year...

Fan-Favorite Disney Franchise Dominates Streaming Chart As New Release Hits #1
Image
Disney is known for releasing numerous hit franchise films. These include, of course, various Pixar movies, which boast franchises including Cars, Toy Story, and The Incredibles. These animated films tend to be extremely successful at the box office when they hit theaters.

In the past decade, Disney appears to be focusing more heavily on their live-action works than in previous times. Most prominently, this includes live-action adaptations of existing animated films. Just this year, the studio released live-action adaptations of Lilo & Stitch and Snow White, the former of which has been a huge box office hit.

As much as the company focuses on theatrical features, the producer has also distributed a number of Disney Channel and streaming-only titles. This includes the Descendants franchise, which began as a Disney Channel original movie in 2015. A new Descendants movie is currently in the works.

While the wait for Descendants 5 continues, Disney has released...

Disney Live-Action Remake Set To Hit A Box Office Milestone No Hollywood Movie Has Reached In 2025
Image
Lilo & Stitch is fast approaching a critical box office milestone that would mark a first for 2025 Hollywood films. The movie is Disney's latest attempt at a live-action remake of a beloved animated classic. Lilo & Stitch has gotten great reviews overall, and a sequel is already in the works.

Lilo & Stitch opened to a stunning $146 million upon its release over Memorial Day weekend this year. This opening was far higher than the entire domestic gross of Snow White, the company's previous 2025 live-action remake. Combined with its critical reviews, the box office has helped cement Lilo & Stitch as a huge success.

As per Box Office Mojo, Lilo & Stitch is now startlingly close to its next milestone. At the time of writing, the live-action remake has made $994.2 million worldwide, putting it less than $6 million away from the $1 billion mark. As it continues its box office momentum, it is almost sure to reach this coveted milestone.

Gal Gadot’s Role in Rachel Zegler’s ‘Snow White’ Has Led to “worst-case scenario” For Her Hollywood Career – Report
Image
After the film’s flop, Gal Gadot, who starred as the Evil Queen in Snow White, released in the first quarter of this year, is now questioning her future in Hollywood. The report suggests that the actress feels under pressure and is cautiously choosing new roles that might change her luck for the future following this ‘box-office bomb’.

Also featuring Rachel Zegler as the main lead, Snow White had just grossed approximately $205.7 million worldwide. The film didn’t even do well on the charts and stands at a 2/10 IMDb score, the lowest for a Disney production. This figure is widely considered a major disappointment, especially when the production budget was reported between $240–270 million, with an overall investment, including sales and marketing, being closer to approximately $500 million.

‘Worst-Case Scenario’ Allegations: Unpacking the ‘Snow White’ Storm

The film faced backlash for several reasons, including the casting and public comments that followed. Zegler...

Does Disney Regret Firing James Gunn For Offensive Tweet? Industry Insider Talks Gunn Joining Dcu
Image
James Gunn was fired after his controversial comment on his social media platform, which brought him a lot of backlash and heat from the whole world. In 2017, Gunn directed and released the film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when his tweets from way earlier resurfaced on the internet.

The director has been making waves around the internet for running the Dcu and directing the recently released film Superman with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. An insider revealed what he thinks Disney feels about firing James Gunn and the director joining the Dcu.

Does Disney Regret Firing James Gunn for His 2012 Tweets?

The tweets from James Gunn were written from a time period of 2008 to 2012. Although the theme of the jokes was quite sensitive, Gunn later publicly apologized for them and stated that these things were not something that he could have provoked.

Dean Cain Says He Wants Kryptonian Babies, Not Politics, in Superman’s Story [Exclusive]
Image
Parenthood. That was the vision Dean Cain painted for his Superman during a recent Superman legacy panel moderated by Collider’s Maggie Lovitt, and the audience ate it up. The panel, which featured several actors who have donned the red cape over the years, included a fun roundtable prompt: where would each of their Supermen be in 2025? While others spoke of Justice League duties or metaphorical retirements, Cain gave a definitive — and very specific — answer: his Clark Kent would be a proud girl dad (and boy dad… and dad to about thirteen more), living the domestic dream with Lois Lane.

“I’d be married to Lois Lane. We’d have 15 children. They’d be flying everywhere.”

Cain’s answer drew laughs, but it wasn’t just a joke. When later asked what storyline he wished Lois & Clark had explored, he circled right back to the same theme — a future where...

Sorry, Dean Cain – of course Superman is woke, he fights injustice
James Gunn
James Gunn’s latest Man of Steel has copped flak from some predictable quarters, but the truth is, superheroes have been subverting the powerful, sticking up for the underdogs, and punching moral cowardice since the 1930s

Dean Cain, you may have read, is very upset with the new Superman. The erstwhile Man of Steel, who played the last son of Krypton on TV in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993 to 1997, thinks James Gunn has gone too far with his description of Kal-El as an “immigrant that came from other places and populated the country” in the new DC film.

Speaking to TMZ, Cain pondered: “How woke is Hollywood going to make this character? How much is Disney going to change their Snow White? Why are they going to change these characters [to] exist for the times?”...

Former Superman Dean Cain Says James Gunn Calling Hero an Immigrant Will Hurt Box Office: ‘I Don’t Like That’
Image
“Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” actor Dean Cain believes “Superman” director James Gunn’s decision to call the Man of Steel an immigrant was a mistake that could end up financially hurting the new DC Universe film.

Cain, who played Superman on “Lois & Clark” from 1993 to 1997, has emerged as a politically conservative Hollywood figure. In an interview with TMZ published Thursday, he responded to Gunn’s recent remark that Superman’s alien origins make his immigrant journey “the story of America.” Gunn’s comments come at a time when, thanks to President Donald Trump’s aggressive deportation strategy, immigration has surged as a hotly debated topic in the United States.

“Bringing Superman into it, I think that was a mistake by James Gunn to say it’s an immigrant thing, and I think it’s going to hurt the numbers on the movie,” Cain told TMZ.

Dean Cain Says James Gunn Made A “Mistake” Calling Superman An “Immigrant”: “How Woke Is Hollywood Going To Make This Character?”
Image
Dean Cain has a problem with DC Studios co-head and Superman director James Gunn calling the superhero an immigrant.

The Maga supporter and Donald Trump fan said the superhero film might be too “woke” and turn away moviegoers.

“What cracks me up is that people don’t like Superman — he was traditionally called the Big Blue Boy Scout. And Superman’s inherent weakness is his goodness,” Cain said in an interview with TMZ. “I mean, sorry, those are great values, in my opinion, and I root for that.”

Cain was responding to an interview Gunn gave to The Times U.K., where he said, “Superman is the story of America. An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.”

Gunn’s comments triggered conservative media and...

Whoopi Goldberg Praises New ‘Superman’: “I Forgot What Kindness Looked Like”
Image
While Fox News hosts, Dean Cain and right-wing commenters are decrying James Gunn’s new Superman as “woke,” The View‘s Whoopi Goldberg praised the movie’s kinder, gentler take.

With the film’s stars David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan visiting the ABC talk show today, Goldberg spoke about her reaction to seeing a screening of the movie. Although neither she nor the guests directly addressed the Maga backlash, Goldberg and Corenswet applauded Gunn’s approach.

Goldberg said her initial reaction to the first scenes, she “felt [herself] myself getting annoyed, and I couldn’t figure out what was happening. And what it was was I forgot what kindness looked like, and I kept waiting for Superman to become quippy, and he’s not that. He’s never been that.

“So I fell in love with you as Superman. Chris Reeve was a friend, and so [the new movie] allowed me to just kind of question myself.

Former 'Superman' Slams James Gunn for Turning David Corenswet’s Character Into a "Woke" Political Symbol
Image
Dean Cain, who played Clark Kent in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993 to 1997, is the latest public figure to criticize James Gunn’s Superman reboot — and he isn’t holding back. In a recent interview with TMZ, Cain shared his discomfort over what he calls the “woke-ification” of the Man of Steel, taking direct aim at Gunn’s comments that Superman is “an immigrant” and “the story of America.” The remarks, originally made to The Times of London, have sparked backlash from conservative pundits and politicians, and now Cain has joined the chorus.

“How woke is Hollywood going to make this character? How much is Disney going to change their Snow White? Why are they going to change these characters [to] exist for the times? For Superman, it was ‘truth, justice, and the American way.’ Well, they dropped that… They came up with ‘truth, justice, and a better tomorrow.

Dean Cain, who played Superman from 1993 to 1997 on ABC’s “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” recently told TMZ (via Entertainment Weekly) that he’s wary about Hollywood making the Man of Steel “woke” in James Gunn’s upcoming “Superman,” where David Corenswet takes over the title role. The movie has faced conservative backlash ever since Gunn told The Times of London that Superman is an “immigrant” and “the story of America.”

“How woke is Hollywood going to make this character?” Cain said. “How much is Disney going to change their Snow White? Why are they going to change these characters [to] exist for the times? For Superman, it was ‘truth, justice, and the American way.’ Well, they dropped that… They came up with ‘truth, justice, and a better tomorrow.’ Changing beloved characters I don’t think is a great idea. Ex-Superman Dean Cain Says the Hero Stands for Immigrants, But Warns James Gunn May Be Going Too ‘Woke’
Image
Dean Cain, who played Superman back in the ’90s TV show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, isn’t totally on board with the direction James Gunn is taking the iconic hero. In a new interview with TMZ, Cain shared his concerns, especially about what he sees as Hollywood pushing the character too far in a “woke” direction.

He brought up the changes being made in movies lately and asked, “How woke is Hollywood going to make this character? How much is Disney going to change their Snow White? Why are they going to change these characters [to] exist for the times?”

Cain’s comments came after Gunn described his new Superman movie as a story about America. In a recent interview, Gunn said Superman is “an immigrant that came from other places and populated the country,” and that the story is really about “basic human kindness… something we have lost.

Once Upon a Time Cast: Where Are They Now?
Image
In 2011, ABC created something magical with Once Upon a Time. It blended beloved fairytales and real-world storylines, and the fans loved it.

It began with two worlds: Storybrooke, Maine, and the fairytale realm, which expanded throughout the series into multiple fairytale realms, including Neverland, Camelot, and Oz.

The premise seemed simple. Young Henry Mills brought his birth mother, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), to Storybrooke to break a curse and believe in fairy tales, including those of his adoptive mother, who had once been the Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla).

Regina and Emma will contemplate whether the alternate world is better. (ABC/Jack Rowand)

Simple, right?

Not so much, especially when Emma’s parents turned out to be Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas).

The Complete Once Upon A Time Family Tree Explained
Image
Hard as it may be to believe, it's been nearly 15 years as of writing since the first episode of "Once Upon a Time" aired on ABC in the fall of 2011. The series was a stroke of genius from "Lost" alums Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who harnessed the endlessly engrossing mystery box elements of the former program for a story that not only smashed together all the classic fairy tales viewers grew up with, but twisted them in surprising ways.

As is now expected of a show of this kind -- especially one that runs without a clear endpoint in sight -- constant reveals of secret identities, children, and parentages created a ludicrously confusing family tree that was further warped by retcons, alternate realities, and re-written timelines. Fortunately, it didn't take a cursed dagger or magical pen for us to make sense of it all, as we set out to...

Dean Cain Slams James Gunn's 'Superman' Immigrant Comments
Image
James Gunn’s recent comments about Superman’s immigrant status and the link it creates between the Man of Steel and the real world was never going to pass without comment. One person who has joined those opposing Gunn’s labelling of Superman is a former Clark Kent: Dean Cain.

The actor is probably one of the most divisive to ever play Superman on screen, mostly thanks to his personal opinions as much as his actual performance in the role, and for that reason his remarks in relation to Gunn’s new iteration of the DC hero are sure to continue to polarize fans as Superman gets set to break records at the box office this weekend.

Speaking to TMZ, Cain shared his hopes for the movie, but candidly shared his opinion that Gunn’s immigrant comments this past weekend will “hurt the numbers” of the movie. Maybe someone need...

Before being known as Marvel's Merc With a Mouth, Ryan Reynolds locked lips with fellow Hollywood A-lister Sandra Bullock in a forgotten romantic comedy that's found love on the streaming charts. Reynolds' romantic comedy, The Proposal, is now a hit on Disney+ 16 years after its theatrical release.

Per Collider, The Proposal is on Disney+'s global top 10 movie chart. The Disney film is 9th on the streaming service's list, entering a list dominated by the Lilo & Stitch franchise and topped by the ill-fated Snow White remake.

What Is The Proposal About?

Directed by Anne Fletcher, who previously helmed Step Up and later led films such as Hot Pursuit and Hocus Pocus 2, The Proposal centers around Bullock's Margaret Tate, a Canadian editor-in-chief at a New York-based publishing company. The respected yet feared editor faces a dilemma when she's told of her imminent deportation to Canada after her visa expired.

‘Evita’ Sparks a Frenzy in London with a Blazing Rachel Zegler
Image
Rachel Zegler stirs hearts in the theatrical revival of Evita, delivering a fierce performance under direction that rewrites the musical rulebook.

London’s West End pulses with revolutionary energy thanks to Evita, the iconic work by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, now reborn with unprecedented force through the bold vision of director Jamie Lloyd and a star turn from Rachel Zegler, who makes her British stage debut with a commanding presence that redefines her career.

Far from traditional, this daring production—first acclaimed in 2019 at Regent’s Park and now reimagined for the London Palladium—transforms Eva Perón’s story into a visceral spectacle, part rock concert, part political rally. Live cameras project Zegler’s now-legendary Don’t Cry For Me Argentina to audiences both inside and outside the theatre; she doesn’t just perform—she builds a new legend from the ground up.

Live-Action Disney Remake Set To Hit Major Box Office Milestone & Overtake $954M Smash Hit
Image
The latest live-action remake from Disney, Lilo & Stitch, is on pace to overtake Warner Bros' biggest 2025 box office hit en route to being one of the year's biggest financial successes. With a budget of just $100 million, the sci-fi comedy featuring the famous adorable blue alien is the latest in a long line of profit machines for Disney.

But the latest box office numbers prove that it may even out-earn A Minecraft Movie, Warner Bros.' viral video game movie starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa. Per The Numbers, as of July 2nd, 2025, Lilo & Stitch has earned a combined total of over $949 million at the global box office, having just passed the $400 million mark at the domestic box office.

Despite the addition of Jurassic World Rebirth to the list of competitors and the standard projected week-over-week drop, Lilo & Stitch has a great chance of surpassing A Minecraft Movie's $954 million box office...

Don’t cry for Rachel Zegler! ‘Evita’ star’s big moment goes viral as first reviews praise her ‘enthralling’ and ‘phenomenal’ performance
Image
Snow White may not have been the apple of audiences' eyes, but don't cry for Rachel Zegler. The West Side Story star has moved on and moved over across the pond where she's headlining a West End revival of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita — the 1978 musical inspired by the and times of controversial Argentine politician Eva Perón.

But you don't have to buy a ticket to watch Zegler sing the musical's showstopping number, "Don't Cry For Me Argentina." That particular tune is performed live every show from a London Palladium balcony that overlooks the streets below while the audience indoors watches it on a giant screen. It's an artistic choice that has earned some criticism from ticketholders, but has already made this Evita a viral social media phenomenon.

Disney Just Released Its 4th Box Office Bomb of 2025
Image
The hits just keep coming for Disney's 2025 theatrical slate. Following three live-action box office bombs, Elio's underwhelming performance makes four flops and counting for the House of Mouse.

Pixar Animation Studios' original film Elio has failed to fill seats following its June release. While the film is Disney's first animated release of the year, it follows three prior box office disappointments, including Captain America: Brave New World, Snow White, and Thunderbolts*.

Released on February 14, Captain America: Brave New World struggled to connect with audiences and was overshadowed by lukewarm reviews and production issues. Then, plagued by controversies, Snow White, Disney's latest live-action remake, failed to enchant audiences following its March 21 debut. Lastly, on May 2, despite positive reviews, Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* couldn't appeal to a broad audience due to its relatively new cast and prior MCU disappointments.

After Snow White Remake, Rachel Zegler's Reportedly Eyed for Another Iconic Musical Role
Image
Rachel Zegler rose to fame thanks to her role as Maria in Steven Spielberg's adaptation of West Side Story. However, she became even more famous once she took on the role of the first Disney Princess: Snow White.

The actress played the character in Disney's new live-action remake of Snow White, which premiered earlier this year. However, the film received backlash and was surrounded by controversy, which led to poor reviews and an even more disappointing theatrical run. However, she has since moved on, and Deadline reveals Zegler is reportedly in talks to play the protagonist of The Sound of Music.

Shortly after Snow White flopped at the box office, Zegler, who is a skilled actor both on stage and screen, took the leading role as Eva Perón in a West End production of Evita at the London Palladium. The actress has received praise for the role, and the...

Disney's Iconic Minnie Mouse Gets a Dark Transformation in Latest Public Domain Slasher
Image
The twisted horror trend of beloved childhood characters turning into murderous figures carries on. Minnie Mouse is the latest Disney icon to trade in spreading cheer for a thirst for blood, thanks to copyright law. She joins the likes of Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Peter Pan, Bambi, and others in a growing public-domain horror genre. Per Deadline, filming on the low-budget slasher Minnie's Midnight Massacre has wrapped.

Written and directed by Brett Bentman (90 Feet From Home), this feature sees Minnie embarking on a "killing spree when seeking revenge against the childhood bullies who tortured her as a teenager." Hannah Huston (Stiletto) stars in the feature, and a first-look image reveals someone (who may or may not be Huston) donning a Minnie mask, complete with a blood-splattered white tulle skirt, and clutching a knife. Check it out below.

ITN Productions

Minnie Mouse entered the public domain on January 1, 2024, after making her debut in 1928's animated Steamboat Willie.

Rachel Zegler Bursts Into Tears After Fans Shower Love on Her During ‘Evita’ Curtain Call
Image
Rachel Zegler got emotional as she stood at the center of the stage after her performance in Evita got a massive standing ovation.

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning Evita has returned to the London Palladium, narrating the story of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, aka Evita. From her rise to power to her death, the play captured it all.

During the curtain call for the play, Zegler, who plays the titular character, stood among her co-stars in a stunning white gown. As the crowd erupted in cheers, Zegler got visibly emotional on stage, shedding a few tears at all the love that was right in front of her. Check out the wholesome moment below:

Rachel Zegler at an event for Blanche Neige (2025)
‘Snow White’ Blu-ray Review
Rachel Zegler at an event for Blanche Neige (2025)
Stars: Rachel Zegler, Gal Gadot, Andrew Burnap, Andrew Barth Feldman, Tituss Burgess, Martin Klebba, Jason Kravits, George Salazar, Jeremy Swift, Andy Grotelueschen, Ansu Kabia, Patrick Page | Written by Erin Cressida Wilson | Directed by Marc Webb

As someone who grew up, thanks to my mum’s love of the films, on Disney’s legacy of animated classics, I went into the 2025 live-action Snow White hoping for something that would both honour the past and confidently step into the present. What I got was a film that is caught in an awkward tug-of-war between honouring its classic roots and reshaping itself for contemporary sensibilities.

Directed by Marc Webb and starring Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, this adaptation is undeniably ambitious. From the outset, it’s clear that this isn’t exactly the same story told in 1937 (something other Disney live-action remakes fail to do sometimes). Here,...

$1 Billion Milestone Slips Away from ‘Lilo & Stitch’ As It Overtakes $250 Million Harry Potter Movie at Global Box Office
Image
With direct competition in the form of Universal’s How to Train Your Dragon remake, Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch re-imagining is watching its worst fears come true. The movie was poised to hit the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office ever since its debut over a month ago, but is now slowing down in the home stretch. Earlier this year, A Minecraft Movie had a similar trajectory at the global box office, ending its run with just over $950 million — painfully short of the coveted milestone. Lilo & Stitch has grossed $946 million at the global box office so far, with $400 million coming from domestic theaters.

Disney hasn’t had a billion-dollar hit since Moana 2 last year, and has delivered a trio of underperformers already in 2025. One of them was a live-action remake as well. Snow White barely crossed the $200 million mark worldwide, against a reported budget of over $250 million.

Kristen Stewart’s $396M Hit That Sparked a Cheating Scandal Offset Is Hiding on Prime Video

In 2012, Twilight star Kristen Stewart found herself at the center of a Hollywood firestorm. Photos emerged of her kissing the married director of her latest movie, Snow White and the Huntsman. At that time, Stewart was in a high-profile relationship with her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson. The photos were seen around the world, and it cost Stewart far more than just her relationship.

Stewart was riding high as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand young stars. Fresh off the Twilight success, she headlined Universal Pictures’ dark fantasy blockbuster Snow White and the Huntsman. The movie grossed $396.6 million, establishing itself as a potential for a new franchise. But the cheating scandal drowned everything. The movie is currently on Prime Video.

Image
British author Roald Dahl is one of the most celebrated writers of children's literature in the 20th century, with his work read by millions of readers across multiple generations worldwide. Many of Dahl's novels and short stories have been adapted into film and television projects, as early as the '60s. In addition to his literary career, Dahl was also a screenwriter, both of family-friendly projects and more mature fare. These original movies have earned their own fair share of fans over the subsequent decades, adding to his enduring legacy.

Simply put, Dahl's work continues to stand the test of time long after his passing in 1990, including adaptations of his work on-screen. There is an extensive amount of Dahl adaptations beyond the numerous takes on his 1964 novel "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," each reflecting his storytelling style in its own way. Ironheart: Marvel’s Mini-Series Tops Disney+ Charts Despite Average Ratings, Becomes Most-Streamed Show In The US & Canada
Image
Marvel’s Ironheart Has Steadily Climbed Up The Disney+ Streaming Charts! (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Disney holds the crown for the most-streamed show right now with Ironheart, even though it picked up a modest 70% on Rotten Tomatoes and faced early attacks from review bombers. The three-episode premiere arrived on Disney+ on June 24, 2025, and quickly turned heads and sparked conversations everywhere.

Ironheart follows Riri Williams, a fresh face for many Marvel fans, after her first appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Riri’s story begins far from a straight-laced hero, with her getting tangled up in a criminal group led by the Hood. The first episodes set a tone where her journey feels a bit by-the-numbers but still shows flashes of brilliance.

'Lilo & Stitch' Live-Action Sequel Officially Announced by Disney
Image
Fans of the summer’s biggest blockbuster received some exciting news this morning (Jun.26) when Walt Disney Studios officially revealed whether Experiment 626 will return to the big screen or not. Ohana might mean family, but nearly $1 billion at the worldwide box office spells out a sequel, and the Mouse House is officially moving forward with a follow-up to Lilo & Stitch. The "cute and fluffy" alien made the announcement himself in a hilarious new video (below), which reveals that Lilo & Stitch 2 is currently in production.

Stitch burns rubber on the Walt Disney Studios lot in his trademark pink Jeep as Experiment 626 lets the cat out of the bag for the upcoming Lilo & Stitch 2. The footage’s post reads, "Should’ve known he couldn’t keep it a secret," and those behind the announcement were absolutely right. However, it seems a no-brainer that a sequel would be greenlit considering that Lilo & Stitch...

After Nearing $1 Billion at the Box Office, Disney Officially Confirms Lilo & Stitch 2

Disney had a rocky start to the year when it came to live-action remakes, as Snow White didn't go as well as expected. Luckily, Lilo & Stitch was there to turn things around.

The live-action remake of the 2002 animated film of the same name was a resounding success. With a different director, Dean Fleischer Camp, but bringing back Chris Sanders to voice Stitch, the new version maintained the heart of the original and stole the hearts of audiences, which translated into many ticket sales. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney Pictures has officially greenlit a Lilo & Stitch sequel.

A.I. Slop Accounts Are Trying to Start A War Between ‘South Park’ and Rachel Zegler
Image
South Park is waging an all-out war on “Woke Disney” and winning, according to fans of the show whose Facebook feeds are full of African children building fruit statues of Jesus on their birthdays.

Eighteen months ago, South Park gave conservative culture warriors their favorite rallying cry of “Put a chick in it and make her gay!” with their streaming special South Park: Joining the Panderverse. In classic “both sides are equally stupid” South Park fashion, Trey Parker and Matt Stone used the special to skewer the perceived shift toward “wokeness” within the Disney movie empire as well as the backlash from right-wing, Cartman-esque keyboard warriors. But, as is so often the case in the South Park fandom, millions of viewers chose to focus exclusively on the former cultural critique, deciding that South Park was officially on the side of grown men who spend six hours a day tweeting...

‘Snow White’ Star Rachel Zegler Shares How She Deals With Online Hate After Saying Trump’s Victory Reflects ‘Deep, Deep Sickness’
Image
Snow White star Rachel Zegler has been subject to enormous venom from internet trolls, but she’s not letting it break her.

The hatred for Zegler, who is of Colombian descent, was first peddled by right-wing internet users in 2021 following her being cast in Disney’s live-action Snow White. When Zegler promoted the adaptation as a less dated version of the original story, internet users further raged that she was mocking the animated cartoon by changing the narrative of the 1930s classic. When Zegler defended herself online, she was further bashed for her commentary.

Zegler sparked controversy again when she spoke out in support of Palestinians and against the Gaza War. The actress attracted even more attention after saying Donald Trump‘s 2024 election victory reflects a “deep sickness

In a recent interview with the British magazine i-d, Zegler shared her perspective on the online negativity she has received.

“It’s really alarming at times,...

How Rachel Zegler Really Feels About The Backlash To Her Snow White Movie
Image
Disney's "Snow White" controversy has arguably eclipsed the movie itself, which is a shame since the 2025 re-imagining of the studio's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" is perfectly fine. However, the film was divisive from the get-go, as casting Rachel Zegler as a traditionally white character caused race-related outrage from trolls and anti-woke commentators. After that, the movie's main stars, Zegler and Gal Gadot, voiced their opinions on the Palestine-Israel conflict, ultimately connecting the film to heated real-world events. Zegler, to be exact, used her platform to call for a free Palestine, while Gadot -- a former soldier in the Israeli Defense Forces -- showed support for her own country (and received death threats), prompting Disney to hire extra security for the performer.

Needless to say, "Snow White" flopped at the box office and Zegler received a ton of backlash simply for playing the titular character and being vocal about her political stances.

"My F***ing Psychiatrist Has Seen Me Through It": Rachel Zegler Breaks Silence On Snow White Flopping
Image
Snow White made headlines for all the wrong reasons in the months leading up to its release. Ultimately, the movie opened to mostly negative reviews (39% on Rotten Tomatoes) and grossed only $205.6 million at the worldwide box office.

Lead star Rachel Zegler came under fire from the moment she was cast, largely because the Colombian-American actor didn't have skin as "white as snow." However, more controversy followed when she made what many felt were derogatory remarks about the animated 1937 classic, while her decision to write "free Palestine" alongside an X post with the remake's trailer also caused a stir.

Things intensified after last year's U.S. elections when she declared, "F*** Donald Trump" on Instagram, and when i-d (via Toonado.com) asked Zegler about the perception that exists of her online, she replied, "It's interesting. It's really alarming at times."

"My compassion has no boundaries, is really what it is," she continued,...
