I wasn't expecting this to be much. But it turned out a bitter better than I did expect, but like every Happy Maddison project, it's unsurprisingly a bunch of recycled jokes attempting to homage the original in an unnessercery sequel Sandlers only doing for the money with a rather weak plot line that only the comedy is going to be its saving grace.
Pro Tour:
Paying tribute to the original cast members no longer with us.
Might ease up the people who always scream out lines and things at Christopher "Shooter McGavin" McDonald on the street and see him in a bit more of a positive light.
Swing & Miss:
Bad casting choice hiring both of Sandlers daughters to play non-sister roles, as one plays his daughter, the other plays a girl in his AA meeting. They look too similar, and it's too distracting to tell them apart. Especially when they look underage and neither look old enough to have a drinking problem.
The Gilmore family just seems to be a watered-down rip-off of the sons of Jim Carey in "Me, Myself & Irene" (2000), and all their jokes are based on their fathers work dances from the original film... as well as a Smokey & The Bandit II (1990) vibe for Happy himself.
Completly pointless casting of Lavell Crawford as Chubbs (Carl Weathers) son who adds nothing of value to either the comedy or plot of the film.
Too much Ben Stiller being his normal overrated self, plus Post Malone? Blurghh.
Pointless Sandler humour that wasn't funny 100 years ago in both Rob Schneider and John Dalys characters. (Enough already)
Overall, it's passable as just an OK film. It's not boring and has a couple of laughs, but nothing classic or memorable. It left me feeling it's not something I'll ever watch again, and it really did not need to be made. It definitely falls into the "MemberBerries" category. It's sure to be found collecting dust right next to Beverlly Hills Cop 4 and Coming 2 America.

Not sure why this is rated as low as a 3? It's at least a 5, as in watchable, it's ok for one viewing, no re-watch value, but decent enough for a pass for a one time viewing.
I guess too many people are compating it to Saw? It's not as good as Saw, it's not even close, but it's not the worst effort. It's a simmilar plot of a guy kidnapping and torturing people in a game where their own choices .... you've seen Saw, why explain it?
Even tho I've said it's OK as a one off watch, there are a couple of things that could've improved the film that really stick out.
1. The film quality. It seems to switch all over the place. In one scene it looks like a mid 1990s TV show like Charmed. Then it looks like Days of Our Lives. Then a cheap late 1980s show. Honestly, most of the film looks like low budget made for TV over anything cinematic.
2. Filler. There's a whole sub-plot of a Detective and an FBI agent that really adds nothing to this film at all. If there scenes and horrible acting was cut from the film, it'd make no difference. With the ending it has, there's really no need for them to be in the film.
3. Soundtrack. Needed a guitar driven rock soundtrack, not a atmospheric orchestration that doesn't suit the films picture quality. The two don't blend here.
You won't ever kick yourself for never seeing this. There's a couple of not bad kill scenes for gore fans, but nothing special. Some of the cheap CGI is visually obvious, but it's a compotent enough job to not distract you too much.
It's currently on TUBI for free to watch. Do or don't, the choice is yours, but there's way worse movies out there compared to this.

I hate these movies that really suck you in and then they blow it in the final act with a terrible ending.
This was unexpected and a surprisingly good movie that had me wondering why I'd never heard of it before?... then the answer was revealed in the final few mins when it just derailed and played out an anti-climactic ending that is a terrible way to end what could have become a modern day classic thriller.
There doesn't seem to be any sequel in site to finish the story, so its just getting a low rating for it being a movie with so much potential ruined by a god awful ending leaving many questions unanswered and a bad taste in my mouth of thoughts such as "why bother setting up such and such?", "What was the point of that?" and "Huhhhh?? That's all?"
This movie won best picture and best script somewhere according to iMDB... how?????? Where the other movies and scripts only half finished ones and this one just got away ALMOST being complete compared to the rest?
