Disney Reveals “Percy Jackson” Teaser and Season 2 Premiere Date at San Diego Comic-Con
Walker Scobell in Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023)
The cast and creative team behind the Disney+ series made a splash at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, revealing an action-packed teaser and announcing a December 10 return date for the highly anticipated Season 2. Adapting Rick Riordan's "Sea of Monsters," the new season promises intense maritime sequences, epic battles, chariot races, and new characters, including Percy’s cyclops half-brother, Tyson.

Executive producers Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz emphasized the differences fans will see in Season 2. Steinberg (who also serves as showrunner) noted that unlike Season 1's ambiguity between reality and magic, the second season fully embraces its fantastical elements, as Percy embarks on a quest to find the Golden Fleece to save Camp Half-Blood. Shotz described the new season as "supersized," as the production utilized more practical sets over volume stage work, including scenes on a 175-foot ship built for the production.

The young cast was on hand to talk about their characters, with Walker Scobell noting how aging in real life alongside Percy has deepened his connection to the character. Newcomer Daniel Diemer, who plays Percy’s half-brother Tyson, talked about his love for the franchise and how excited he was to work with Scobell. The two quickly bonded on set, and shared with the crowd how they recreated the iconic scene of Jack and Rose on the bow of the Titanic.

In addition to the teaser, the panel concluded with a surprise video announcement from author Rick Riordan regarding the casting of Nico and Bianca Di Angelo for Season 3. Levi Chrisopulos will play Nico, while Olive Abercrombie ("The Haunting of Hill House," "Outer Range") will play older sister Bianca.

‘South Park’ Hasn’t Been This Relevant in 20 Years: Creators Speak Out at Comic-Con Panel
Image
“South Park” has always run, arms open toward controversy. Nothing and no one is off the table — it’s never actually had a political bent or loyalties. It, like all satire, simply comments on the current reality. But its shocks haven’t quite made the waves they did in its Bush-era heyday in a while. Sure, they have taken on Covid and Ozempic and OnlyFans, but nothing that has hit the mainstream the way its takes on the Iraq war or Scientology did.

Then came the Season 27 premiere.

Now, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are so back. The episode went hard. President Donald Trump isn’t even presented in the episode as an animated caricature. Instead, he’s a photo cut-out and then — instantly infamously — a hyper-realistic A.I. representation with an unfortunately small manhood.

Parker and Stone’s appearance at Comic-Con, just one day after this episode’s airing on Comedy Central,...

‘South Park’ Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone Battled Comedy Central Over Showing Trump’s Genitals, Refused to Blur His Penis
Image
“South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone hit the Comic-Con stage on Thursday night, a day after the Season 27 premiere of their smash Comedy Central series, “Sermon on the ‘Mount,” made waves for taking on both Donald Trump and “South Park’s” Paramount corporate parents.

The duo were asked whether they got any notes from the network over the episode — and Parker and Stone said most of the debate revolved around the episode’s animated tiny Trump penis.

Said Parker: “it’s always like, ‘so we love the episode,’ but that’s what happened. They’re like, ‘Ok, but...

‘Resident Alien’ to End With Season 4

‘E! News’ Canceled After 32 Years on Air
Image
“E! News” has been canceled — again.

The celebrity-focused newscast will continue airing new episodes until Sept. 25 on E!, which is spinning off from NBCUniversal and will be folded into the new, publicly traded company Versant (formerly known as SpinCo). The cancellation comes three years after “E! News” returned from a two-year hiatus, after it was initially axed by E! in 2020. The series, originally a daytime program, returned as a late-night broadcast.

The decision to cancel the show is said to have come from the E! network, as it looks to leverage its brand of entertainment coverage and commentary across digital and social platforms.

White House Slams South Park’s Portrayal of President Trump as Satan-Loving Dictator: ‘This Show Hasn’t Been Relevant For 20 Years’
Image
The White House has released a scathing response to Wednesday’s Season 27 premiere of South Park, which portrayed President Trump as a whiny-voiced, flappy-headed, Satan-loving, small-membered dictator, before cutting to a deepfake “pro-Trump” PSA which featured a nude Potus equipped with tiny talking genitals.

In other words, the Comedy Central ‘toon is giving Trump the same treatment it gave Saddam Hussein in 1999’s South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. Satan even alluded to Trump and Hussein’s similarities during Wednesday’s episode, telling Trump, “You remind me more and more of this other guy I used to date, like a lot.

‘Criminal Minds: Evolution’: Aisha Tyler Reveals Why Tara’s ‘Thriving’ in Season 19
Image
The good news: Expect some joy from Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 19 after the Bau suffered a lot of loss this past year. For example, Tara and Rebecca (Nicole Pacent), who ended Season 18 engaged, are happy, Aisha Tyler told TV Insider. But that doesn’t mean that the Bau isn’t still going to have to deal with their Voit problem. Zach Gilford debuted as the serial killer Elias Voit (a.k.a. Sicarius) in Season 16, with a network of like-minded individuals. Before the end of that season, he’d kidnapped and trapped Rossi (Joe Mantegna) in a storage unit. Then, in Season 17, he had knowledge of Gold Star, the next Big Bad. At the end of that season, he was attacked in prison. Season 18 began with Voit in a coma as a result, then when he woke, he was changed. He had amnesia and brain scans showed he was no longer a psychopath.

‘Washington Black’ Star Ernest Kingsley Jr. on ‘Tom Cruise’-Level Stuntwork, Sterling K. Brown, and His History-Remaking Hulu Series
Image
Ernest Kingsley Jr. was barely out of drama school before getting cast as the lead in Hulu’s “Washington Black.”

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama student was performing in a 2021 production of “Is God Is” in London while taking Zoom auditions from the dressing rooms, culminating in his first TV lead.

“Luckily, the wifi was great,” he told IndieWire with a chuckle (back on Zoom). “My one worry was the chemistry read with Iola Evans, who plays Tanna really beautifully. One time, we were doing the chemistry read, and my brother tried to come into the room. He opened the door during the scene, and I just had to…” — he mimed holding the door shut while staying in the scene — “‘Tanna, I love you so much.’ I was just like ‘Not happening, not today. My life is on the line.'”

Soon enough, Kingsley set off on...
