Chuck Lorre’s new sitcom Leanne is bringing back Ryan Stiles into the spotlight. The actor-comedian played the role of dryly hilarious Herb Melnick, Judith’s second husband, who gets along very well with her ex-husband Alan and his brother in Two and a Half Men.
With his impeccable timing, understated delivery, and ability to bring levity to even the most absurd moments, Stiles gave a standout performance as one of the most underrated stars on the CBS sitcom. Herb, however, made a sudden departure from the series following Season 10. Though he returned, it was only a brief appearance in the final season of the show.
However, now more than a decade later, he is reuniting with Lorre in his upcoming Netflix series. But rather than supporting roles, this series features him in the leading role of Bill.

Now streaming, and based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling novels, “Ballard” centers on Detective Renee Ballard, the fearless new leader of LAPD’s cold case unit. The thing about this unit is, it’s made up entirely of volunteers, and has no money being funneled into it to help.
Still, those volunteers are pretty good. Here’s who you’ll recognize among them.

For sitcom fans, Leanne Morgan's upcoming Netflix sitcom inspires the felling of "we're so back" that we haven't felt in some time. While comedy series are alive and well on the small screen in various ways, it's taken some time to get the multi-cam sitcom back into fashion. Not only is that what we have from the comedian, but we also have a sitcom titled after the star. See! We're so back!
Leanne follows in the footsteps of a lot of great and nostalgic eponymous sitcoms like Reba, Roseanne, George Lopez, and so many others by getting right down to the reason we're all tuning in: The leading star! The newly released official trailer for Leanne more than proves that Morgan's comedy perfectly translates from her stage stand-up to a laugh-inducing 30-minute series.

When it comes to sitcoms and their theme songs, there are a few different categories. First are those that debut with the perfect theme song and never change it — shows like Cheers, The Jeffersons and Welcome Back, Kotter. Then there are those that keep things fresh by using the same song, but with different arrangements, like how The Cosby Show or Frasier changed its opening theme a bit each year or how Growing Pains kept the same theme, but occasionally altered who performed it. Of course, there are also the shows that completely switch themes. Happy Days, for example, began with “Rock Around the Clock” but transitioned to the more remembered “Happy Days” theme in Season Three.
But there is one more category: The shows that never seem to make up their mind about what their theme song is. Every few seasons, a brand new song introduces the show, only...

“Shrinking” star Christa Miller and “The Bear” star Abby Elliott agree that their “mugging” for the camera days are behind them.
Speaking on TheWrap’s “Leading With Laughter: Crafting Unforgettable Characters” panel at Wednesday’s inaugural Women of Comedy Emmy Showcase in Beverly Hills, the two TV comedy actresses shared that as the small screen has evolved towards highly produced limited series and shifted away from the multi-cam sitcom, their style has adapted, too.
“I started in sketch comedy, I really thought that comedy was, when I was starting out, pushing for a laugh,” Elliott said. “I had never really done anything as serious as ‘The Bear,’ and in that, you know, I really had to kind of act.”
Moderated by Whitney Cummings, the panel also included Wendi McLendon-Covey of “St. Denis Medical” and Brenda Song of “Running Point.” McLendon-Covey echoed the “Saturday Night Live” star-turned-sitcom actress, saying the industry...

Cleveland Rocks! Except, why did it take so long? More than 20 years after The Drew Carey Show went off the air, it has finally come to DVD. While it has gotten the disc treatment through the first season and compilations, this May marked the first time ever that The Drew Carey Show has ever received a Complete Series box set. But that might need an asterisk…
As you might have expected, the primary issue came down to music rights. And while a lot was cleared up in the process, it’s absolutely worth noting that this box set of The Drew Carey Show is not truly complete. As stated on the back of the box set, the following episodes are not included: season four’s “Drew’s Dance Party Special”, season seven’s “Drew Carey’s Back-to-School Rock ‘n’ Roll Comedy Hour (Parts 1 & 2)” and season eight’s “What’s Love Got to Do with It?...

Long before Marvel was crossing over the superheroes in their films at every chance, prime-time sitcoms figured out that people love to see a character from one show appear in another. Or, at least, people like the idea of it. While some crossovers come off like Thor and Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok — an epic team-up with hilarious moments — others are more like Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy in Thor: Love and Thunder — a disappointing mess that fails to deliver on its potential.
Superheroes aside, here are the five most ill-conceived sitcom crossovers of all time…
5 ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Futurama’
The very idea of Homer Simpson sharing a few cans of Duff with Bender is inspired. Unfortunately, the Simpsons episode “Simpsorama,” which crossed over with Futurama, failed to deliver at every turn. The episode checks all the boxes for what you’d want to see these characters do together...

Netflix has shared a first look at Leanne, a new comedy series starring Leanne Morgan and co-created by Susan McMartin, Chuck Lorre, and Morgan. All 16 episodes of the series will premiere globally on Netflix on July 31.
In the series, Leanne’s life takes an unexpected turn when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family, she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity, and jello salad.
For Morgan, the series is a childhood dream realized. “I can’t believe it has come true!” the comedian said. “When I started comedy 25 years ago, my goal was to be a part of a sitcom. It just goes to show you it’s never too late, and dreams do come true. I’m a grandmama from Tennessee,...

Next month will mark the 18th anniversary of when Drew Carey was first handed the reins of The Price Is Right on CBS. Receiving the reins from the legendary Bob Barker, he's since become a fixture of daytime television in American households in his own right, spearheading a widespread upgrade of the classic game show with a shiny new look, special themed weeks, and a more inclusive approach. One thing he still struggles to do after over three decades on the small screen, however, is watch his old episodes. In an interview with Parade celebrating the release of a special 30th anniversary edition of The Drew Carey Show: The Complete Series on DVD, he opened up about his feelings seeing himself on television and how it has affected him throughout his career.

Drew Carey has hosted The Price Is Right for almost 18 years, but in that time, he’s barely watched more than a few minutes of the show. The beloved host opened up in a recent interview with Parade, where he promoted the highly-anticipated release of the 30th-anniversary edition of The Drew Carey Show: The Complete Series on DVD, out this fall. In the interview, Carey admitted he doesn’t like watching himself on TV. “Not a lot of my fans know [that] I don’t like watching myself on TV. I have a real hard time,” he said. “I’ve sat in the editing room a few times on The Drew Carey Show, and I had to leave. I don’t do it that often because every time I saw it, I was like, ‘That’s what I look like? And that’s [how] I walk?’ I get so tired of seeing myself.

Before she became everyone’s favorite goth forensic genius on NCIS, Pauley Perrette had already been in a short-lived but beloved legal drama that flew under the radar. Back in the 20th century, it was very common to see a stand-up comic enter the Hollywood pipeline by starring in their own sitcom based on their acts. Comedians like Bob Newhart, Martin Lawrence, and Roseanne Barr went from performing on small stages around the country to appearing in basically every living room in America thanks to the miracle of television. But when it came to the Latino community, there was a clear lack of representation. That is, until George Lopez arrived on the scene in 2002 with "The George Lopez Show."

On Reddit’s r/television forum, TV buffs have been naming they believe were sabotaged by their networks — sabotaged, for example, by a storyline choice, by airing episodes out of order, by a conspicuous lack of promotion, or by a time slot change. “I have heard this story told many times about many shows,” one user wrote, starting the conversation on February 1. “But how many of these are actually malicious decisions, and how many are due to incompetence? What examples do we have where it is confirmed that a show was intentionally sabotaged by people who wanted an excuse to cancel them?” Here are some of the TV shows commenters cited: The Drew Carey Show One commenter wrote, “After The Drew Carey Show was renewed for Seasons 7, 8, and 9, the ratings slipped for Season 7. Has there ever been a more cursed comic strip than Dilbert? It started out as a drab time-waster for 9-to-5ers, and eventually became a crudely-drawn forum for its creator Scott Adams’ unabashed bigotry.
Even Diblert’s attempts to launch food tie-ins were hopelessly doomed, lest we forget about the “Diberito,” which attempted to cram an “entire recommended daily allowance” of vitamins into a single burrito, resulting in a foul-tasting fart factory that cost Adams “several million dollars.”
But one failed Dilbert endeavor that we know very little about is the live-action TV adaptation from the ‘90s. No, not The Drew Carey Show.
As of writing, no footage of the original Dilbert pilot has ever surfaced (possibly because the only copy was cast into the fires of Mount Doom). The live-action version actually preceded the animated show that lasted for two years on Upn.

After a handful of appearances as Guy Fieri on Weekend Update, Bobby Moynihan took the impression to a whole new level on a December 2013 episode of SNL. The pre-taped fake Food Network promo began with Moynihan’s Fieri cackling like a madman while promoting “Guy Fieri’s Full Throttle Christmas Special,” co-hosted by Kid Rock (Brooks Wheelan), who enters via chimney.
Fieri/Moynihan then goes on to name-drop an insane parade of early 2010s reality TV personalities as the special’s guest stars — Criss Angel, Bret Michaels, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Big Ang from Mob Wives, the casts of Duck Dynasty and Pawn Stars — as well as, for no reason whatsoever, Verne Troyer and Mimi from The Drew Carey Show.
The promo also features the most insane Guy Fieri-like Christmas recipes imaginable, such as a stocking filled with bean dip and “Straight Cake” — as opposed to fruit cake — made from bacon and Matchbox cars.

The CBS crime drama NCIS has had countless memorable characters over the course of its 22 seasons. The most iconic of these characters is Pauley Perrette as forensic scientist Abby Sciuto, who was an integral part of the CBS television series NCIS from the very beginning. Perrette remained an important member of the core cast until exiting the series in 2018. Despite her dark black hair, tattoos, gothic style, and love of all things creepy, Abby was a shining light of optimism and joy in a show about violence and murder. Abby's brilliance and unique style made her one of the most popular characters on television. It was understandably shocking to fans when Pauley Perrette decided to exit the show in 2018.
Abby Sciuto changed the representation of goths in film and television, showing the subculture was more than a phase picked up by moody teenagers, and showed young women that they could successfully pursue careers in science.

This is particularly true for Ted McGinley as Derek, who was dealt a serious blow when his wife Liz (played by The Drew Carey Show alum Christa Miller) confessed to kissing an ex. Fans were given an emotionally charged and heartwarming follow-up that enabled Derek -- and the man who plays him -- to shine.
Cbr was able to chat with TV icon McGinley about Shrinking Season 2, Episode 8, "Last Drink." The actor discussed what it was like to tackle the more emotional beats of Derek's storyline. But he also talked about one of the most special days he had on set, as well as what it's like to hear a joke from Harrison Ford.
