Noah Centineo Starring as Young Rambo Is So Outrageous It Just Might Work
Image
The reboot, prequel, and sequel era isn’t letting up, and even Rambo has fallen victim to it.

When it comes to iconic films and roles, and revisiting the type of legendary IP that will most assuredly have people grabbing their pitchforks and angrily tapping away at their keyboards or screens, Rambo is high up there.

Not only is that an iconic franchise that should not be touched, but it’s something that conjures up the thought: “Why mess with perfection?”

(Pluto/Screenshot)

Nevertheless, it’s 2025, and action fans of all ages familiar with Rambo and Sylvester Stallone‘s performance in that role must make peace with the fact that a Rambo prequel has been greenlit 43 years after the franchise made its debut.

We haven’t had a sequel to this movie since 2019, which put some finality to the chapter of this iconic action hero that shaped so much of Stallone’s career.

Brandon Flynn, Elizabeth Perkins, T.R. Knight & Ryan Powers To Topline Psychological Horror Film ‘Deluxe Ocean View’ From Bradley Bredeweg
Image
Exclusive: Brandon Flynn (The Parenting), Elizabeth Perkins (Another Simple Favor), T.R. Knight (Grey’s Anatomy) and Ryan Powers (She-Hulk) are set to star in Deluxe Ocean View, a psychological horror film from director Bradley Bredeweg, based on an original screenplay by Powers.

In the indie, set on the icy shores of Cape Cod, renowned exposé journalist Ethan Everett (Flynn) arrives at the empty luxury resort, Notre Joie, for a career-saving interview. But the off-season staff and guests — including the beguiling owner Vera (Perkins), unsettling manager Oliver (Knight), and charming drifter Johnny (Powers) — draw Ethan into a surreal maze of guilt, secrets, and waking nightmares that forces Ethan to confront horrors far greater than any story he’s ever uncovered. Inspired by classics like The Shining and Mulholland Drive, the film unravels a story of guilt, deception, and how far we’ll go to outrun the past.

Simona Paparelli Wolf is producing under Sorry, Mom Pictures, alongside Powers for R U Mad At Me Productions and Emmy nominee Jason B. Stamey, who also served as casting director.

“I am honored to join this talented team of actors and producers to bring a bold, unsettling vision to life with this character-driven psychological horror,” said Bredeweg in a statement to Deadline. “As an Lgbtqia+ storyteller, I’m drawn to narratives that challenge norms and explore the complexities of identity, judgment and redemption. Written by the prolific Ryan Powers, this film terrifies me in all the right ways because it dares to ask a question we too often avoid: What drives a person to destroy their life in a single moment?”

Known for roles in 13 Reasons Why, the Max horror-comedy The Parenting, Apple’s Manhunt, Hulu’s 2022 reboot of Hellraiser and more, Flynn is repped by Paradigm, Untitled and Schreck Rose Dapello.

A three-time Emmy nominee known for roles in Weeds, Sharp Objects and the like, Perkins has most recently been seen in Prime Video’s Another Simple Favor as well as series like Minx, The Afterparty, and The Morning Show. She is repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Knight is an Emmy nominee known for his role of Dr. George O’Malley on Grey’s Anatomy who has also recently been seen on shows like The Flight Attendant and Genius. He is repped by Buchwald, Authentic Talent and Literary Management, and Paul Hastings.

Powers’ credits include She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, The Madalorian, The Nice Guys, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., to name just a few. He is repped by Atlanta Models and Talent.

A Television Academy Honoree and GLAAD Award winner, Bredeweg is best known for co-creating and showrunning The Fosters and its spinoff Good Trouble for Freeform and Hulu, as well as producing hit Broadway revivals and originals including Dear Evan Hansen, Moulin Rouge, Green Day’s American Idiot and the recent Scissorhandz on the West End. He is currently writing and directing a new Pat Benatar musical to premiere in New York City in 2026 and as a director, developed Life From the Other Side, a feature penned by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Paul Schrader. He is repped by Untitled, UTA, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

The film’s producers are repped by Lastine Entertainment Law.

Carina Conti in Mafia: The Old Country – Meet the Actress Behind Isabella Torrisi
Image
Carina Conti, the actress who’s playing the role of Isabella Torrisi in Mafia: The Old Country, looks exceptionally well in the game. With a handful of roles in movies and TV series, it’s her first time voicing a video game character. She not only gave her voice but also motion captured for Isabella, the daughter of Bernardo Torrisi.

In Mafia: The Old Country, Isabella Torrisi is portrayed as a smart and passionate woman who wants to spend her life away from her father’s glare. While growing up in one of early Sicily’s biggest crime families, she also falls in love with Enzo Favara, the main protagonist of this game.

Given the seriousness of the character in one of Rockstar’s major IPs, Carina Conti has done a great job, and it would be interesting to see her performance in the game.

Carina Conti’s Early Life...

‘Cruel Summer’ Season 3 in the Works at Hulu and Freeform With Olivia Holt Returning
Image
Perhaps it’s not the end of the road for “Cruel Summer.”

Hulu and Freeform are in the midst of developing a third season of “Cruel Summer,” which would see Season 1 star Olivia Holt return to the mystery series, according to media reports. If greenlit, Holt would reprise her role as Kate Wallis, who starred opposite Chiara Aurelia’s Jeanette Turner in the first installment of the show.

Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple would return as executive producers via Iron Ocean, while Cori Uchida and Adam Lash have been tapped as showrunners and executive producers. The project hails from Lionsgate TV.

Representatives for Disney and Lionsgate TV declined to comment on this story.

The news marks a potential series revival for “Cruel Summer,” after Freeform canceled the show after two seasons in December 2023, alongside “The Fosters” spinoff series “Good Trouble,” and would reverse the show’s anthology format.

Bryan Craig Seeks Return To Daytime Soaps, Open To Joining ‘Days Of Our Lives’ As Recast Javi Hernandez
Image
Winning two Emmy Awards during his run as Morgan Corinthos on “General Hospital,” actor Bryan Craig is looking to return to daytime soaps, noting interest in either reprising his role or taking on a different character altogether.

Following last week’s news that “Days of our Lives” would be recasting the role of Javi Hernandez after Al Calderon opted to depart the soap opera as he has landed a series regular role on NBC’s “Brilliant Minds,” Craig shared interest in taking over the role in a post from Saturday, August 2, saying on X (formerly Twitter), “@daysofourlives I hear you’re in need of a ‘Javi.’”

Interestingly, Craig played the role of Javier “Javi” Mendoza on the ABC primetime soap opera “Grand Hotel.”

Executive produced by Eva Longoria (“Desperate Housewives”), the series followed the last family-owned hotel in multicultural Miami Beach, which gave a fresh take on an upstairs/downstairs...

Chris L. McKenna Upped To Contract Status At ‘General Hospital’ Where He Appears As Jack Brennan
Image
When the cast of “General Hospital” gets back to work on Monday, August 4, after being given the entire month of July off as part of the show’s summer hiatus, actor Chris L. McKenna will return to the Prospect Studios in Hollywood as a contract cast member, six months after making his debut in Port Charles in the recurring role of Jack Brennan on the ABC drama series.

Following the exit of Charles Mesure, who originated the role, several soap veterans reportedly auditioned for the role of Brennan, Director of World Security Bureau (Wsb), who heads up operations in Port Charles, but it was McKenna who ultimately swayed producers with his charming portrayal of the station chief. As a result, and with the way things are going in story, it only makes sense for the show to lock in the venerable actor.

“The overwhelming support from you beautiful people helped make it happen,...

'The Lincoln Lawyer' Star Teases the Arrival of Mickey Haller’s Worst Enemy [Exclusive]
Image
It looks like Mickey Haller’s charm is finally about to meet its match. As Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer speeds toward its highly anticipated fourth season, one thing’s certain: Haller is about to be backed into a legal corner like never before — and according to star Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, the person doing the cornering is an absolute powerhouse.

Constance Zimmer has joined the cast as Dana Berg, a ruthless prosecutor lifted straight from Michael Connelly’s The Law of Innocence — the novel that Season 4 is adapting. Dana isn’t just any adversary. She’s tenacious, sharp, and has zero interest in playing fair, earning herself the ominous nickname “Death Row Dana.” And this time, Mickey Haller isn’t defending the accused. He is the accused.

“Constance, oh my goodness, we had so much fun,” Garcia-Rulfo told Collider's Christina Radish. “It was such a pleasure to have her. I really mean that.

Gh Spoilers: Roger Howarth Reveals Life-Changing Update After Social Media Silence
Image
General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal General fans were devastated when Roger Howarth departed from the show in November 2023.

He had portrayed Austin Gatlin-Holt on the ABC soap since 2021 until the character was killed in 2023-the identity of the murderer remains a mystery.

Many Suspect Cyrus Renault

Many viewers believe it was Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), as he subsequently murdered Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and others, despite using a different method.

The ABC soap might be starting another murder mystery featuring Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), but Austin’s murder is still unsolved; Austin Gatlin Holt was not Roger Howarth’s first character on Gh.

He portrayed three different characters on the show; his first appearance was in 2012 as Todd Manning, a role he originally played on One Life To Live.

Unfortunately, he could not continue in that role for long because of a lawsuit involving ABC and Prospect Park.

Jack Betts
Jack Betts, Spaghetti-Western Export and Spider-Man Board Chief, Dies at 96
Jack Betts
Jack Betts, the New Jersey-born performer whose screen credits spanned Italian westerns and Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man, died peacefully on 19 June at his coastal home in Los Osos, Calif., his nephew Dean Sullivan told The Hollywood Reporter and was later quoted by several outlets. He was 96, a fact confirmed by TMZ and People magazine.

Raised in Miami, Betts said watching Laurence Olivier in Wuthering Heights ignited his ambition to act, a story he often retold and that friends repeated in obituaries. After studying theatre at the University of Miami and earning a scholarship to the Actors Studio, he debuted on Broadway opposite José Ferrer in Richard III (1953) before shifting to film with 1959’s The Bloody Brood.

In the mid-1960s Betts reinvented himself as “Hunt Powers” for a streak of eleven spaghetti westerns beginning with Franco Giraldi’s Sugar Colt (1966). Genre historians credit those pictures with giving him...

‘Queer as Folk’ Star: People Forget “All the F***ing Time” How Series Paved Way for TV’s Golden Age
Image
To close out a lively and, at times, heartfelt Q&a featuring a handful of actors and the key creative team responsible for Showtime’s Queer as Folk, moderator Frank DeCaro asked the panelists the night’s most profound question timed to the milestone anniversary: “Looking back over the last 25 years, what influence do you think Queer As Folk had on television and the world?”

Without missing a beat, Peter Paige, who starred as the flamboyant and beloved character Emmett Honeycutt, said, “Give me that goddamn microphone,” a demand that telegraphed a powerful statement was about to be dropped.

“I don’t think Queer as Folk gets nearly enough credit for being at the forefront of the golden age of television, and I mean that 100 percent,” said Paige, who graduated from the show to become a successful TV creator, writer and producer (The Fosters, Good Trouble). “Adding complicated, sexualized adult...

Until Dawn: David F. Sandberg’s horror video game movie gets a digital release
Nunca apagues la luz (2016)
Last year, we learned that Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation director David F. Sandberg would be re-teaming with Annabelle: Creation screenwriter Gary Dauberman for a movie based on the horror video game Until Dawn. Production began in August, wrapping in October, and the film reached theatres last month, earning a 6/10 review from JoBlo’s own Tyler Nichols at the time. Now, Until Dawn has received a digital release and is available to rent on Amazon for $19.99, or purchase for the price of $24.99.

As The Hollywood Reporter previously noted, first released in 2015, Until Dawn is an interactive horror video game that follows eight friends and frenemies who are brought together a remote mountain retreat. With live or die scenarios featuring a mysterious killer, cannibalistic wendigos, a cable car, and a long-ago mining cave-in that reverberates into the present day, the members of the group must fight through their fear if...

‘Pee-wee as Himself’ Sets a High Bar for the Celebrity Exit Interview
Image
Paul Reubens knew he was dying, and the director didn’t, as they were making “Pee-wee as Himself,” an extraordinary documentary that pulls back the curtain on the man known to the world as Pee-wee Herman. While the HBO two-part project is in ways unique, it also represents what might be called the Celebrity Exit Interview, where public figures take control of their stories while there’s still time to do so.

Through that lens, “Pee-wee as Himself” joins a small but rich roster of relatively recent documentaries, including “Val,” Amazon’s 2021 look at Val Kilmer, who died earlier this year after battling throat cancer; and “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie,” an emotional tribute to the actor’s life and career amid his three-decade struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

Each of these films has been not only deeply personal but unusually moving, so much so that it’s easy...

‘Adults’ Review: FX Comedy Finds the Fun in Gen Z Messiness
Image
Welcome back to shows about messy twenty-something groups of friends! It’s been a while, and FX’s new comedy “Adults” is a strong addition to a sub-genre that has been experiencing a major shortage since shows like “Girls,” “Good Trouble” and “Search Party” went off the air. Created by writing duo Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw in their first television creation since writing for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the show follows five codependent housemates as they navigate various early adulthood misadventures amid student loans, precarious jobs and a lack of health insurance in Queens, New York.

The recently post-college quintet is made up of Samir (Malik Elassal), whose parents own the house his friends are crashing at, rent-free; Anton, a gay remote worker whose superpower of befriending literally anyone gets him into trouble later in the season; Billie (Lucy Freyer), a journalism major who’s struggling to...

Michael J. Fox Makes His Acting Return and Reunites With Spin City Creator
Image
Apple TV+'s comedy drama Shrinking has just added a brand-new cast member. The series, which boasts stunning reviews, has Jason Segel and Harrison Ford as the leads.

The five-time Emmy-winning actor Michael J. Fox had retired from acting since his latest appearance on The Good Fight in 2020, where he reprised his character, attorney Louis Canning, from The Good Wife. The actor has continued to be active, despite battling Parkinson's for three and a half decades, being a big part of his foundation, and constantly attending Back to the Future reunions. Now, he will have a new reunion with Spin City creator, Bill Lawrence, as Deadline reports Michael J. Fox joined Lawrence's hit series Shrinking for Season 3.

Details around Fox's character are still kept under wraps, but he has officially joined the series with a "major guest-starring role." However, his new character might be tied to the character arc of Ford’s Paul Rhoades.

‘Until Dawn’ Struggles to Survive Opening Weekend With Tough Competition
Image
The trends that were observed last year appear to be repeating in 2025 as well. Horror movies are having an unusually difficult time in theaters, with only a handful of titles managing to stick out among the crowd. This year’s biggest horror hit remainsThe Monkey, which grossed around twice as much as the IP-driven Wolf Manin its global run. This week, Sony’s Until Dawn opened with soft numbers at the box office, mere days after Ryan Coogler’s Sinners broke records. Inspired by the video game of the same name, Until Dawn is directed by horror specialist David F. Sandberg, who’d been focused on the now-defunct DC Extended Universe for a few years.

With $8 million domestically in its first three days of release and another $10 million from overseas markets, Until Dawn’s global box office debut stands at $18 million. Fortunately, the movie didn’t cost all that much to produce.

'Until Dawn' Barely Survives the Night With Lukewarm Audience Ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and CinemaScore
Image
Talk about following a tough act. Sony's Until Dawn opened this week, days after Ryan Coogler's Sinners defied horror movie expectations both critically and commercially. Until Dawn will struggle to hold its ground in its debut weekend, while Sinners is expected to blaze past box office projections, like it did in its debut frame. Inspired by the video game of the same name, the movie opened to mediocre reviews and not-so-promising audience reception, which certainly doesn't bode well for its future. These missteps will ultimately work in Sinners' favor, as more casual audiences give it a chance thanks to the excellent word-of-mouth that it has been attracting.

Until Dawn currently holds a "rotten" 51% rating on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. But the film's audience score on the platform stands at a significantly superior 71%. A more accurate reflection of audience sentiment can be observed in the C+ CinemaScore that...

Grant Rosenmeyer, Sean San José, Nora Dunn, More Are ‘Behind The Eight-Ball’
Image
Exclusive: Grant Rosenmeyer, Sean San José (Sing Sing), Nora Dunn, Katherine Cunningham (Yellowstone) and Alexis Allotta (Happily Never After) are starring in the semi-autobiographical drama Behind the Eight-Ball. The pic reps the feature directorial debut of Nathan Israileff.

Loosely inspired by Israileff’s experiences, Behind the Eight-Ball follows Trevor (Rosenmeyer) a high-functioning cocaine addict whose spiraling substance abuse threatens his career and closest relationships – forcing him to confront his demons and fight for redemption as his life unravels around him.

Says the filmmaker, “The film is a ‘love letter’ to functional addicts who are afraid to speak up or admit embarrassment for their ongoing issues, letting them know they are not alone and the depression they feel is felt by many.”

Israileff and Rosenmeyer are producing through their companies Artisanal Interrobang and Florida Hill respectively alongside producer Katelyn Henslin.

How Trans Coming-of-Age Comedy ‘She’s the He’ Plays on Locker Room Hysteria to Tackle the ‘Fear Around Every Corner’ of the Trump Era
Image
In the indie comedy “She’s the He,” which premiered at SXSW on Sunday, high school seniors Alex and Ethan decide during the last week of school to pretend they’re trans so they can sneak into the women’s locker room. If that sounds like a premise lifted right out of Maga-era attacks on trans rights, it’s because it is — that’s the point.

First-time writer-director Siobhan McCarthy dreamed up the idea just over a year ago, in February 2024, after discovering online that the one high school comedy that spoke to them as a teenager — the 2006 Amanda Bynes comedy “She’s the Man” — was just as formative for many other trans kids. That led to a conversation with their friend, Will Geare (who co-edited “She’s the He” with McCarthy), about the kinds of trans stories they both wished they’d been able to see when they were younger.

“I made a joke about,...

Teen LGBTQ Comedy Movie ‘She’s the He’ Reveals Trailer Ahead of SXSW Debut (Exclusive)
Image
Two high school friends pose as trans women in the teaser trailer for the comedy film She’s the He, which is set to premiere at the SXSW Film Festival.

Starring Misha Osherovich and Nico Carney, writer-director Siobhan McCarthy’s feature makes its world premiere at SXSW on March 9. Rounding out the cast are Suzanne Cryer (Broad City), Mark Indelicato (Hacks), Malia Pyles (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin), Emmett Preciado (Good Trouble), Aparna Nancherla (Another Simple Favor), Kyle Butenhoff (Monsters), Tatiana Ringsby and Emma Orr.

She’s the He focuses on high school friends Ethan (Osherovich) and Alex (Carney), who pretend to be trans women during the final week before graduation to help Alex connect with his crush. In the process, Ethan realizes she is actually trans.

“The only way that I can think of to make you seem not super gay is if I was a girl,” Osherovich says in the below trailer,...

Kate Hudson on Why Being Called a “Rom-Com Queen” Gives Her a “Mixed Feeling”
Image
Kate Hudson may have a myriad of roles on her résumé but her romantic comedies led her to be called a “rom-com queen.” However, she is opening up about why she wasn’t sure how she felt about that label.

While appearing on Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce podcast, the Running Point star says she has a “mixed feeling” when looking back at the success of her rom-coms and being typecast in those roles.

“It’s a mixed feeling because…now that I’m older, I love it,” Hudson said. “I think what happens when you have a very successful rom-com, it sort of becomes what people expect from you and want from you, and as an actor you’re sort of like, ‘Yeah, but I want to do a million different things.'”

The actress starred in numerous romantic-comedy films including How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,...

Image
Maddie Bosch has big, lingering questions about her father, as seen in the first trailer for the third and final season of Bosch: Legacy.

At the close of Season 2, you’ll remember, Maddie (Madison Lintz) learned that her kidnapper, Kurt Dockweiler, died in prison of an overdose — likely murder via forced heroin injection. The finale ended with Maddie answering a collect call, on her dad’s phone, from inmate Preston Borders, who reported, “Tell your father that I did what he wanted…. Dockweiler. Tell him I took care of it.” Shellshocked, Maddie could barely utter, “Dad, what did you do?...

1st Puerto Rican MCU Hero Kamar de Los Reyes’s Death: Kevin Feige Better Not Give White Tiger the Black Panther Treatment After Chadwick Boseman’s Tragic Death
Image
Alright, Marvel fans, let’s talk about something important, Kamar de Los Reyes, the man, the legend. He is playing the first Puerto Rican superhero in the MCU, and the first Latino superhero in U.S. comic book history, White Tiger! If that wasn’t enough, this was also his final role before his tragic passing in late 2023 after a battle with cancer.

He was an incredibly talented actor best known for his role as Antonio Vega on One Life to Live and for lending his voice to Call of Duty: Black Ops II as the unforgettable villain, Raul Menendez.

White Tiger aka Hector Ayala | Credits: Marvel Comics

Now, here’s the thing, we’ve seen how Marvel handled Chadwick Boseman’s death by passing down the Black Panther mantle to Shuri instead of recasting T’Challa. And while some found that decision was controversial, it was ultimately done out...
