Intimate view of life in wartime

This film provides a series of vignettes covering a slice of society from mayor to soldier to volunteer to priest. It's well shot and cut, including great drone shots of Ukrainian scenery and the effects of war. I recommend you take a look.

Now, in lieu of spoiling this film I'll use the remaining characters of the 600 minimum to implore you to call your elected representatives and demand more help for Ukraine. As an ongoing genocide we are ethically compelled to stop this crime against Ukraine as soon as possible. Ukraine is fighting for the future of democracy in Europe. Dithering on helping will only make the fight against imperial Russia more costly in the future.

Unique, compelling and Intimate

Most people probably go into this movie thinking they know what it's going to be, but keep an open mind. It gives a unique and intimate POV into what life is like for those on the front lines, those they leave behind, and the strong connection between the two. The filmmaker had access to many environments that few are able to obtain, and the way it's edited gives a visual perspective that leads to a visceral one. It has a specific POV but the filmmaker presents the information in such a way that the viewer is free to make their own conclusions, which is the sign of a well balanced, well put together doc. I thought I'd watch a little bit and then come back for more later, but it's so compelling I watched entire film without realizing the time had flown by.

Essential Viewing. You must choose: Good or Evil?

The reality of what's been taking place in Ukraine in an honest and raw form. While being brutally attacked by an aggressor, you must decide. You come together, reflect and find the courage to overcome the evil that threatens your fellow people; your culture; your life. That is exactly what Ukraine is doing right now and right before our eyes. The movie captures the coming together of civilians from all walks of life; their passion for life; how they work together to overcome despite demolished homes, murdered families; looking all-out brutality directly in the eyes. I was particularly moved by moments that involved groups of Ukrainians coming together as one to share duties in the kitchen and in helping others evacuate shelled areas. The definition of courage is contained within.

Touching, Heartwarming, Realistic and Accurate

As a completely fluent Ukrainian-American volunteer who makes regular critical supply delivery runs to the front line in eastern and southern Ukraine, this film resonates deeply. We are confident that victory is near, but this is war and wars are impacted by politics. That these beautiful vignettes are saved for posterity in this film, resistant to the whims and winds of geopolitics, provides both joy and relief. I highly recommend watching it all the way through in one sitting.

I also recommend keeping a box of tissues handy. Don't make plans for the rest of the day. Your soul and spirit will be in Ukraine and it will take a moment to retrieve it.

Humanity in wartime

I loved this film. It depicts wartime Ukraine through the eyes of many people, both on the frontline and away from it. It depicts humanity behind the war news headlines in a touching but not overly sentimental way. The film gets the balance just right.

It has superb music throughout, from banging tunes to choral pieces which adds to the rich tapestry of the people and situations depicted.

Food is a theme that appears throughout adding to the sense of humanity and commonality, everyone can relate to food with family, friends and colleagues.

The film really gets under the skin of what it is like to live in a country at war and so is educational as well as a really good watch.

I highly recommend. Bravo!
