Image
CBS is starting to build up the cast of its Yellowstone spinoff Y: Marshals.

Logan Marshall-Green has joined the series, which stars Luke Grimes as his Yellowstone character, Kayce Dutton. The show will follow Kayce as he becomes part of an “elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy Seal to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence,” according to the show’s logline. Y: Marshals is set for an early 2026 premiere.

Marshall-Green (And Just Like That, Carry-On) will play Pete Calvin, a friend from Kayce’s military service.

CBS picked up the series in May, expanding the Yellowstone-verse to the broadcast network (which has previously aired repeats of the flagship series). Franchise mastermind Taylor Sheridan...

Love Life Netflix: Plot, Season 1 and Season 2 Cast
Image
Created by Sam Boyd and executive produced by director-writer Paul Feig, the 2020 rom-com series Love Life is now streaming on Netflix. Season 1, starring Anna Kendrick (A Simple Favor) sets up what to expect from the series: a single person in their 20s or 30s navigating New York City dating, and an exploration of how the different people we get involved with can shape our lives until we meet the one. The show also serves as a time capsule of both NYC and life prepandemic — the first season begins in the early 2010s, an era when Fetty Wap played at bars, Serial was the podcast of the moment, and the musical Hamilton had a chokehold on the theater world. Season 2 takes place a few years later and follows Marcus, played by The Good Place’s William Jackson Harper. Scroll down for a deep dive...

‘Chicago Fire’: New Details Revealed About Brandon Larracuente’s New Firefighter
Image
“I can say there’s a huge shake-up in the very first episode that portends the big drama to come in Season 14,” says Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman. And that’s coming on the heels of the on- and offscreen drama that ended Season 13! Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Severide (Taylor Kinney) learned they have a baby on the way; Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) was proven innocent of trying to murder his wife’s killer; and it’s been reported over recent months that Daniel Kyri, who plays Darren Ritter, and Jake Lockett, who plays Sam Carver, would no longer be series regulars, while Michael Bradway, who plays Jack Damon, Severide’s younger half brother, is departing because of a scheduling conflict with another project. But there is a new face joining the ranks of Firehouse 51. Brandon Larracuente was cast as ...

Who Is Wednesday's Grandmama Hester Frump? Explaining the Addams Family Tree
Image
Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) has taken down a Hyde, unraveled a generations-long conspiracy, and even traversed the dangerous hairpin turns of teenage friendship (terrifying!). Yet in Wednesday Season 2, the titular sleuth finds a “thorn in her side” even she didn’t expect: her mother, Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Zeta-Jones tells Tudum, “Morticia and Wednesday’s relationship lends itself to times of separation.”

But there will be no absence to make the heart grow fonder in the new episodes of the fantasy drama. In Season 2, Morticia and her husband Gomez (Luis Guzmán) move onto the grounds of Nevermore Academy as Morticia becomes the chairperson of the school’s fundraising committee. Now Wednesday’s parents are no longer a crystal ball phone call away — they’re tangoing right in her backyard. Morticia’s new gig allowed the Wednesdayteam (including director and executive producer Tim Burton and co-creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough...

‘Love Island USA’ Achieves Its Biggest Week Ever With 1.9 Billion Minutes Watched, Becoming Nielsen’s No. 1 Most-Streamed Show of the Week for the First Time
Image
“Love Island USA” achieved its best viewership ever during the week of July 7-13, reaching 1.9 billion minutes watched. That total marked not only a series high for the Peacock reality dating series, but the first time any Peacock show has ever reached the No. 1 position on Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings.

Nielsen measures U.S. television screens alone, meaning viewership in other countries and on mobile devices is not included in this tally. Additionally, it’s important to note that Nielsen combines all viewership of a show into one total rather than separating totals by season, meaning that any viewership...

‘Survivor’s Jeff Probst Says Mike White ‘Should Never’ Put Him on ‘White Lotus’
Image
Mike White loves to cast Survivor alums on The White Lotus. Natalie Cole, Carl Boudreaux, Christian Hubicki, Angelina Keeley, Alec Merlino, and Kara Kay have all appeared in guest star and cameo roles in the show’s three-season run on HBO. But Survivor host Jeff Probst doesn’t think he should be recruited for the next cameo from his reality competition show. Probst shared his thoughts on why now two-time Survivor contestant White loves the show so much, and why he would come back to the play the game after the success of The White Lotus, in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Probst argues that Survivor and The White Lotus are both studies of human behavior, theorizing that White learned a lot about that from watching and playing Survivor. “I’m surprised people aren’t asking, ‘Why is one of the greatest writers in the history of Hollywood so interested in Survivor?...

In ‘Social Studies,’ Non-Fiction Auteur Lauren Greenfield Reveals the Inner Workings of Gen Z
Image
Lauren Greenfield wasn’t expecting an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series for her five-part FX documentary series “Social Studies,” which documents in disturbing detail over one year the intimate relationship between high school kids and their cell phones. Greenfield is happy to grab more attention for the series, because she’s on a mission. Known for her film portraits of upscale society in “The Queen of Versailles,” “Generation Wealth” and “The Kingmaker,” this time Greenfield casts her eye on a wide swath of Los Angeles teenagers.

“At a time when people are paying more attention to celebrity,” she told me on Zoom, “it’s quite difficult to get a serious show like this out into the world to find its audience.” The concern with social media’s impact on teenagers is universal, Greenfield learned on her global promo tour. “This topic has touched a nerve worldwide, because...

NBA Loss Likely Pressured Warner Bros. Discovery Ad Sales Efforts
Image
A tough bounce — the loss of rights to show NBA games — likely crimped Warner Bros. Discovery’s ability to attract advertising dollars during the most recent TV “upfront” market, with the company declining to reveal its level of ad commitments despite most of its rivals having done so.

The company acknowledged Thursday in a letter to shareholders that “negotiations for the U.S. upfront are largely complete,” noting that it “enjoyed strong pricing and resilient demand for sports programming, and firm pricing for general entertainment.” But there was no guidance for whether the volume of ad commitments it secured was greater than,...

CBS Boss Says Decision to Cancel Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ Started With Taylor Tomlinson’s ‘After Midnight’ Exit
Image
CBS’s decision to cancel The Late Show with Stephen Colbert remains a major topic of controversy, but aside from the initial statement issued by the network, executives have stayed largely silent about the debacle — until now. After Skydance’s takeover of Paramount became official on August 7, Paramount Global TV Media Chairman George Cheeks made a statement addressing the end of The Late Show. “The challenge in late night is that the advertising marketplace is in significant secular decline,” Cheeks stated at a press conference. “We are huge fans of Colbert, we love the show, unfortunately, the economics made it a challenge for us to keep going.” The comment reaffirms the company’s stance from the original announcement that the decision was financial and not based on Stephen Colbert’s criticism of Paramount’s recent settlement with Donald Trump. He went on to further state that it was Taylor Tomlinson...

Brian Tyree Henry ‘Found Tools’ to Face His ‘Demons.’ Then Came ‘Dope Thief’

As a kid, Brian Tyree Henry was blind for about a week. Well, not really, but he really committed to pretending, just as he did when he adopted a British accent for days or started his own sign language.

Henry grew up with four much older sisters, which propelled him to grow up fast. “I was always trying to catch up with the adults,” he recalls. “And instead of asking questions I would observe and then go do it.”

But he also clung to the fun of childhood, especially since he needed to both entertain himself and strive to get attention.

‘Boston Blue’s Donnie Wahlberg Gets Real About Filming in Toronto: ‘It’s Dire Straits Financially’
Image
Donnie Wahlberg got candid about why Boston Blue is filming primarily in Toronto instead of Boston in a new interview. This comes after fan backlash about the location was spurred by footage of Wahlberg and Mika Amonsen filming in Canada in late July. According to the New Kids on the Block star, the Blue Bloods offshoot has to film in Toronto because of the “dire straits” the TV industry is currently in financially. On a more positive note, he said that Boston Blue “is going to blow people’s minds” when it comes to guest appearances in the series premiere. The comments came in an appearance on the Billy & Lisa in the Morning podcast on August 7. Wahlberg, a Boston native, assured that they’re still filming Boston Blue in Boston, saying that he played a big part in making sure that happened. Wahlberg said in Instagram comments in July that...

Outstanding Sci-Fi, Western, Procedural or Action Series? Maybe It’s Time to Bring Back the Genre Emmys
Image
I’ll say it upfront: We don’t need more Emmy categories. Between the two Creative Arts Emmy Awards and the Primetime ceremony, there are already 123 awards set to be handed out next month. And that’s just from the L.A.-based TV Academy; New York’s NATAS passes out hundreds more in daytime, children’s & family, news, sports and more. And then there are the local Emmy chapters all over the country, handing out trophies as well.

We live in Peak Emmy times. So take this all with a grain of salt: I do wonder if the 1950s...

Did ‘The Pitt’ Boss Just Reveal How Tracy Ifeachor’s Collins Will Be Written Out?
Image
When The Pitt returns for its second season in January 2026, it will do so without at least one of the cast members from its (highly successful) freshman run. It was announced in July that Tracy Ifeachor, who played resident Heather Collins, will not be returning. And while the answer for Collins being Mia could be simply that she’s not working during the Fourth of July weekend-focused second season, it seems she’s left the hospital altogether. “Look, the show is set at a teaching hospital. And if you’re a fourth-year resident in a teaching hospital, your time there is done at the end of that year. Not to scare any of the other cast members, but people don’t stay at these hospitals forever,” executive producer John Wells told The Hollywood Reporter. “They’re going to roll off, and that will be part of the evolution of the show.

Fox News Seeks to Throw Out Gavin Newsom’s Defamation Suit

Fox News has filed a motion to throw out Gavin Newsom’s $787 million defamation suit, arguing that the governor is seeking to create a “press spectacle” to advance his presidential ambitions.

Newsom sued in June, alleging that Fox host Jesse Watters defamed him by claiming that Newsom lied about a phone call with President Trump. Watters has since offered a quasi-apology, saying that Newsom “wasn’t lying — he was just confusing and unclear.”

In the motion to dismiss filed on Tuesday, Fox News’ lawyers said that Newsom’s lawyers had offered to drop the case if Fox issued a retraction and an apology.

Everything’s coming up KPop Demon Hunters. The Netflix animated musical film was released in June and became the sensation of the summer for its array of bops, top-notch animation, comedy, and story strength. The movie follows Huntr/x, a group of — you guessed it — K-pop-singing demon hunters who use their music to maintain a barrier against the creatures that used to prey on humankind… until one begins losing her voice due to a dark secret, just as the demon leader forms a boy band group to combat them and unleash his minions upon the world once more. The reception to the film has been overwhelmingly positive, and actor Daniel Dae Kim, who voiced a character in the film and is also bringing his own bit of Korean storytelling to the small screen soon with the spy thriller Butterfly, was delighted to see its success. “Anytime you do a project,...

‘Big Brother’: Who Won The Power of Veto in Week 4?
Image
Week four of Big Brother got off to an exciting start. A new Head of Household was crowned and then dethroned all within 24 hours. Fans saw a bit of a shake-up on the block compared to the past three weeks. After Adrian Rocha said goodbye in an eight-to-four vote on Thursday, it was time for a new Hoh to be crowned. As outgoing Hoh, Lauren Domingue was not eligible to compete. For this competition, houseguests had to team up in three groups of four, leaving one contestant, Kelley Jorgensen, out. They had to walk on thin balance beams and hit a button on four boxes in the fastest time without falling off to proceed to the next round. The winner of the round was allowed to eliminate two people from another team. Kelley was then allowed to play in the next round as the teams were reduced to three people each.

Ultimately, she uses a murder of crows to murder people around Jericho, and Wednesday uncovers this by the end of Season 2’s first half, but things were left in a precarious position as she fled the asylum’s escaped patients on whom she’d been experimenting. For 15 seasons, “ER” revolutionized the medical drama genre, combining fast-paced, immersive storytelling with a deep exploration of the inner lives of doctors and their patients. But more than a decade after the NBC drama’s end, star Noah Wyle wanted to reteam with executive producers John Wells and R. ‘Chicago Med’ Boss Teases Asher & Archer’s ‘Complicated’ Journey in Season 11 After Baby Cliffhanger
Image
After that jaw-dropping cliffhanger that revealed that Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) is actually pregnant and it appears Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber) could be the father, we had to ask Chicago Med executive producer and showrunner Allen MacDonald to describe in five words these two’s journey this season. His answer: “complicated.” And he repeated it five times. That’s certainly a good way to describe the dynamics at play on the NBC medical drama, returning for its 11th season on Wednesday, October 1. Asher’s relationship with Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) fell apart while he was going through some things, eventually hitting rock bottom, being suspended, and then saving a woman and her child in a well. That woman, Sadie (Holly Curran), came back in the finale, showing up at his door, suggesting that just as Asher may have moved on with Archer — it’s unclear just what...

‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Carves Out a Darker, Deeper Nevermore
Image
“Wednesday” has returned to dish out another dose of deliciously dark gothic charm. The storyline stretches its slithery tendrils into new territory that has its title character, embodied by Jenna Ortega, face foes old and new (and family) to uncover the latest supernatural mystery endangering Nevermore Academy. What it meant for production designer Mark Scruton and his team, which included designer Philip Murphy, was to expand familiar visual haunts with surprising new twists.

One of those twists, at least from a production standpoint, was shooting the season in an entirely different country. Romania was swapped for Ireland, with Ashford Studios stepping in for the stage work and areas of Dublin, Wicklow, and Offaly for practical backdrops. But fear not, Nevermore still oozes its signature moody trappings — labyrinthine corridors, eerie stained glass, and foreboding woods — but now there are fresh corners of the school revealed, which echo the gear-turning soul of the Industrial Age.
