Il sindaco del Rione Sanità

Un film che ricalca fedelmente le vicende di una piece teatrale di 100 anni fa non può essere diretto senza alcun cambiamento nei giorni nostri: o lo si ambienta a 100 anni fa, o lo si attualizza almeno un poco, nel rispetto dell'opera originale. Se non lo si fa, il risultato è una roba che non sta in piedi, non ha senso, non scorre, non fila, pieno di buchi e di situazioni che non si verificano.

Alcuno attori recitano bene. Ma il complesso è troppo lungo, mal strutturato e con errori tecnici e narrativi.

No. Non è un buon prodotto.

On one hand, the scenes from the start of 'The Godfather', presenting a mafia chief as the head of a community, are a glamorisation of the brutal reality of organised crime. On the other, the depiction of a quasi-familial relationship is maybe not completely appropriate - not all families are happy, after all, and there is some truth in the notion that the mafia (both in the U.S., and in its native Italy) stepped into a vacancy in authority. 'Il Sindaco del Rione Sanita' tells the tale or an organised crime boss in one of Naples' most infamous neighbourhoods, and in a sense, it's built entirely on Godfather-style clichés; watch 'Gomorrah' to see a less sentimental portrait of the way that gangsters actually act. But it's not so much glamourized as stylised, with an interesting script and strong performances apparent behind the somewhat hackneyed concept of the honourable criminal. I enjoyed it, even if I didn't quite entirely believe it.

Compelling movie, that enjoys good audio system. If you have AV-receiver and speakers, remember to turn those on for this. I really liked the movie experience. It's a bit dark in the tone, but not depressive at all. Target audience is probably relatively young. There's kind of young gangsta tone in it and it includes rapping.

I'd rate the movie at 7,5. Good audio. really impressive acting performance by Francesco Di Leva in the main role. Movie is interestingly different from others that I have seen. It really delivers new experience for the viewer. It looks and sounds good too. Ending was a bit more lame than it should have been. It could have been dramatized better. But I certainly recommend the movie. It's not among the best movies, but it is really good viewing experience. Made excellent movie night for me and utilized my audio setup nicely. This is exactly the kind of movie that I like to watch. It is proper experience both as a whole and with the audiovisuals, differs from others, entertains and brings you all sorts of feelings and thoughts.

This film has a very original take on a godfather-like story making for what should have been an amazing film. This isn't the case however because the filmmakers decided to add in way too many subplots that lead nowhere and an unnecessary amount of characters.

Overall this movie was okay but could have been a lot better than it was.
