Travels By Narrowboat

With its gentle pace and endearing narrator/star how can you not love this show ....Kevin loves Indian food and dislikes meeting other boats head on in narrow tunnels... he struggles with his own use of the word amazing... he does NOTHING to hurry the pace ...nothing is done for effect as he muses about everything from the weather to teenagers with the rhythmic hum of the Diesel engine behind him...just toodling along the canal at 2mph. ....sometimes folks leisurely walking overtake and pass him.... canal boating is that slow... and that is the joy of it.... Kevin's utter lack of pretense quickly wins you over and if witnessing someone realize their dream in real time is your thing.... this is for you. Simple joys like... "time for tea and a cheese & onion sandwich!" ... or a particularly good pork pie, strangers seated under a railway bridge....by far the best part of this show is listening as Kevin gains confidence both in his longboat skills and in himself.... loved this just loved it xo

You find yourself de-stressing as you follow Kevin and his boat navigate the wonders of UK's hidden gem -the canal waterways. Stripped back to basics, how do I get from A - B , eat, sleep and fix the odd mechanical misfortune. He manages to capture the best and the worst , you forget he is only going 4 miles an hour, which ensures he as much to travel and we have much more to watch. Thank you Kevin for allowing me into your world and making me a little less stressed....

I had heard about narrow boats in the UK and was delighted to stumble upon this series. It is enjoyable and relaxing show to watch and you learn quite a bit about these boats and the canals they travel on. The first episode or two were just so so but overall quality continued to improve. After a while you feel like you know the lead character, Kevin and start to root for him to get a companion. Would like to see more about the actual boat, I don't recall Kevin ever giving a tour of Aslan. Hope this show continues on for some while.

One man leaves it all behind to get away from it all on a narrow boat. Or does he? You wouldnt believe the anxiety and other stresses on the canals existed but they do and they are well documented here. Ive watched all 4 series and now on the 5th. What got me hooked initially was that he floated past places I lived or know very well, so maybe he will near you too. A great insight into our waterways, even for those without a boat (like me )the series is addictive watching. The women in my life dont 'get it' but my daughter came to me and said "you know your canal program (mine, haha), I found my boyfriends dad watching it too!" so its more for us blokes I think - we're all secretly narrowboat fans, or at the very least interested in what goes on When the family have all retired to bed, grab a gin put your feet up and turn off your brain, float down a canal and enjoy the sights and sounds of Britain by narrowboat.

Enjoying the viewing of life in another country by the means of a new travel method. Almost how the horse riders of old days seeing a auto for the first time touring the country. It's modern living in a slow pace of life but still new images weekly. That's what the doctor tells every middle aged man to do. Slow down enjoy life. Just wish it becomes two travelers as life is better with the right co captain in life for all of us. Thanks for the English county landscape views.
