Watched this at the assisted living facility with some of the residents. We were supposed to watch a different movie, but this is the one that got queued up. It moved quickly--I wish they'd put more time reference in to know just how long it took her to recuperate, etc... One of the ladies watching had had back surgery years earlier so she knew all about the different therapies and procedures.
Now, it's cheesy in some spots, pretty predictable--especially if you know it's an autobiographical piece. I got a bit annoyed at the turn on a dime mood swings from despair to determination that seems to run through the film, but at the same time, I understand that it takes time to get determined and sometimes you've got to fail to succeed. I was hoping there was an update about her and the boy from Montana, but it wasn't at the end of the movie.
This is a good family story. It's real life scary in a spot or two, and I had to go get some tissues because no one had any. Inspirational without being preachy.

I don't watch much rodeo in reality or movies, but my husband and I happened to see this. While there were a number of movie missteps, the inspiration was palpable. For me, Missi Pyle's performance was the best. Her struggles with being a mom of an injured daughter--wanting both the championship's for her daughter but knowing the setbacks that devastate--and feeling helpless at restoring her health moved me to tears more than once. I think this is one of Ms Pyles' best performances. It breaks the mold of her playing mean blondes or dumb blondes. This was truly enjoyable.
I have to admit this isn't normally my sort of film and I reluctantly watched only to be hooked early on following the tragic events. The story is truly inspirational and whilst I have no knowledge or interest in horses or rodeo it was more the human story of triumphing against the odds that shone through. Well portrayed by the whole cast and a joy to watch.
As a wheelchair user myself, I had an interest in this story. I like seeing my fellow "wheelies" succeed beyond what society expects of them. Ms. Snyder's story is indeed compelling. Unfortunately, the overdone melodrama in this film actually undercuts it, in my opinion. And a couple of elements in this film make it clear it was done on the cheap. Still, I thought the lead actress did a good job. And I like that Ms. Snyder -- whom this film is about -- did stunt riding in this film. A positive step for including people with disabilities in making movies.
Not familiar with the real story this was based on,so no disrespect in that regards..
However was lacking in several aspects, which caused its downfall.
Actors chosen, their subpar acting & the inspirational one liners became a bit much.
It wasn't perfect, bit cheesy but still a film to pass time or..
Maybe help you if,going through a difficult situation.
Sorry. Not something to watch, more than once.

- WissenswertesThe horse stunts during the scenes after the accident were done by the real Amberley Snyder on her own horse, the real Power. The ones before the accident were done by her sister.
- PatzerWhen Amberly meets up with Tate at Bomont High School, Tate holds a paper with his speech in his hand for most of the time. When he goes up the stairs and realizes that Amberly cannot follow him, the paper has suddenly disappeared. In the next scene, it is back in his hand again.

Amberley Snyder: [to her horse, at her first rodeo event after the accident] Hey, Bubba. They said you and I would never be back here. Welcome to never.
