Chris Pratt has become a major blockbuster star thanks to his role in the Marvel and Jurassic World franchises, but just like the rest of us, he does have some favorite shows to watch. One of Pratt’s personal favorites is The Chosen, the faith-based series starring Jonathan Roumie as Jesus that’s currently streaming on Prime Video. Pratt has been open about his praise for the show, even going as far as calling it “incredible pop culture canon.”All five seasons of The Chosen are currently streaming on Prime Video, and the show is still dominating streaming charts, sitting in the top 10 in the United States and dozens of other countries.

The new drama from The Chosencreator Dallas Jenkins casts a Bridgerton star, with the Biblical series moving forward at Prime Video. Since its debut in December 2017, The Chosen has been one of the most consistent hits on streaming. It has also proven to be a reliable box office player, with the franchise grossing $140 million worldwide from its various theatrical runs.
That success was part of why Amazon MGM Studios signed a deal with Jenkins' 5&2 Studios earlier this year. As part of the agreement, Prime Video is now the U.S. streaming home for The Chosen. Stephen King has written over 60 novels and novellas in his long career, as well as over 200 short stories, yet Hollywood’s obsession with adapting the same ones over and over again has reached a new level with the news that one of King’s longest single-volume novels is about to be remade just five years since it was last adapted.
This year, King fans will be terrified by Pennywise the Clown all over again in a prequel series to the hit movie adaptation of It, have already seen Salem’s Lot, The Monkey and The Life of Chuck, and have a future littered with more King projects like The Long Walk, Cujo, Carrie, TheDark Tower, Fairy Tale and many more. Now, though, one of the most unexpected and questionable adaptations has been revealed by The Hollywood Report, with word that Road House director Doug Liman is attached to helm a single-movie version of The Stand.

One of King’s most iconic novels, published in 1978, The Stand is a post-apocalyptic horror epic that explores the battle between good and evil after a man-made plague wipes out much of the global population. Stephen King’s “The Stand” is getting a new adaptation, with Paramount securing Doug Liman to direct the new adaptation of the author’s apocalyptic 1978 tome.
Liman will also produce along with Tyler Thompson of Cross Creek Pictures, with the two previously collaborating on “American Made,” the based-on-a-true-story drama starring Tom Cruise.
Largely thought to be one of King’s greatest accomplishments, “The Stand” takes place in the aftermath of a pandemic caused by a weaponized virus (dubbed Captain Trips), where the survivors are either swayed by the forces of good or those of evil, personified by Randall Flagg, who would go on to become a recurring figure in some of King’s other work, most notably the “Dark Tower” series of novels.
In 1990 King updated and expanded the novel, moving the events from 1980 to 1990 and including more than 400 pages that were cut from the initial printing. The resulting book,...

Stephen King’s “The Stand” may finally be heading to the big screen.
Filmmaker Doug Liman is attached to direct a feature film of the post-apocalyptic bestseller for Paramount Pictures, with Cross Creek Pictures’ Tyler Thompson on board to produce. The project does not yet have a script, however, so development may take some time as Liman and the studio winnow King’s novel — which runs 1,153 pages in its 1990 unabridged version — into a single movie. But the studio sees the movie as a priority and is moving forward aggressively to make it happen.

THR reports that Doug Liman is set to direct The Stand for Paramount Pictures. The novel, which is considered to be one of Stephen King’s best, deals with a deadly pandemic that kills nearly the entire population. The survivors are drawn to two opposing communities, one led by the kind, prophetic Mother Abagail and the other by the sinister, demonic Randall Flagg. This all leads to a final battle between good and evil. The search is now on for a writer to tackle the project. In addition to directing, Liman will also produce alongside Tyler Thompson of Cross Creek Pictures.
At 1,152 pages, The Stand is King’s longest book. While you might think that Paramount will be viewing this as something that will span multiple films, sources tell THR that “Liman and the studio have a particular take and that the feature would be a one-off, not a multi-movie endeavor.

New episodes of The Chosen arrived on Prime Video on Sunday, and although the show debuted its first batch of Season 5 episodes in one of the top spots, it hasn’t continued this trend with the second drop. The Chosen is now sitting at #6 on Prime Video at the time of writing, falling several spots despite the release of Episodes 3-5. This is the opposite of what most fans were expecting to happen, as it seemed likely that the show would continue to climb as more of Season 5 becomes available to watch. However, this may very well be a temporary setback, and it’s possible thatThe Chosen could climb even to the top spot before the end of the week. The final three episodes premiere this Sunday, June 29.

While many productions are getting shut down as a result of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, one exception that has been permitted to keep filming is The Chosen, a faith-based series following Jesus Christ.
Last week, The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins spoke about his hopes for the show's production to be granted an exemption, this coming with the project around two weeks away from wrapping on Season 4. On Monday, Jenkins announced that The Chosen had been approved by SAG for a waiver, allowing shooting to resume that day. Christian Bale plays an 1830s detective tasked with solving a series of grisly, possibly cult-related murders in Netflix’s ice-cold thriller, “The Pale Blue Eye.” Watch the first trailer above.
Scott Cooper’s film, which the streamer acquired last year in a 55 million deal, takes place at West Point Academy, a military training school. When a cadet turns up dead, its leadership turns to Augustus Landor (Bale) for help – a local detective who, if rumors are true, “once elicited a confession with nothing more than a piercing look”.
The trailer opens on a wintry landscape, where Landor contemplates the crime at hand – a soldier has been hanged, with his heart expertly cut out from his chest.

Netflix has released its first look at the upcoming Christian Bale-starrer The Pale Blue Eye.
Based on Louis Bayard’s book of the same name, the 1830-set movie sees Bale portray Augustus Landor, a former police detective who’s been called upon to unravel the murder of a cadet at West Point. Things take a darker turn when, after the body is moved to the morgue, it’s uncovered that his heart has been removed.
Up against a seemingly unbreakable code of silence among the cadets and the pressures of a fledging academy desperate to protect its reputation, the world-weary detective turns to one of their own to help him solve the case. That man, with his disdain for the military’s rigors and a penchant for poetry, will become known as Edgar Allan Poe.

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Christian Bale's latest, "The Pale Blue Eye," which also represents another collaboration for him with director Scott Cooper. Bale, who is coming off of this summer's "Thor: Love and Thunder," previously worked with Cooper on movies like "Out of the Furnace" and "Hostiles." This time? They're headed back to the 1800s for a mystery that ties into the king of old-time gothic spookiness, Edgar Allan Poe.
In this case, the legendary author behind "The Raven" and "The Masque of the Red Death" is played by Harry Melling, of "The Queen's Gambit" fame. So, how is it that Poe crosses paths with a man trying to solve a murder? Let's have a look-see.

Hoffman is portrayed by Sacha Baron Cohen with Eddie Redmayne as Hayden, Jeremy Strong as Rubin and Yahya Abdul-Mateen as Seale.
