The Long Walk is one of Stephen King‘s most harrowing books, and the upcoming film adaptation doesn’t seem to be shying away from the intensity with its “R” rating from the MPA.

The Long Walk is rated “R” for “strong bloody violence, grisly images, suicide, pervasive language, and sexual references.”

Based on King’s 1979 dystopian novel of the same name, the film arrives in theaters on September 12 from Lionsgate.

The story follows Raymond Garraty, a 16-year old who takes part in an annual contest in which 100 teens must journey, nonstop and under strict rules, until only one is left alive.

Darren Aronofsky’s crime caper Caught Stealing is set to reach theatres on August 29th, with Francis Lawrence’s intense Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk following on September 12th and Scott Derrickson’s sequel to his Joe Hill adaptation The Black Phone (a sequel simply titled Black Phone 2) dropping on October 17th – and today, we have learned that the Motion Picture Association ratings board has given all three of these movies R ratings!

Directed by Aronofsky from a screenplay by Charlie Huston, who is also the author of the book that the movie is based on, Caught Stealing has the following synopsis: Hank Thompson (Austin Butler) was a high-school baseball phenom who can’t play anymore, but everything else is going okay. He’s got a great girl (Zoë Kravitz), tends bar at a New York dive, and his favorite team is making an underdog run at the pennant.

Lionsgate has officially started production on The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, with cameras rolling in Spain on the highly anticipated adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ latest novel. A new behind-the-scenes video released by the studio shows the crew and director Francis Lawrence kicking off the shoot, signaling the first step toward the film’s November 20, 2026 worldwide release.

When The Hunger Games franchise released its final entry, Mockingjay – Part 2, in 2015, it was difficult to see how the dystopian adventure series could continue after the story wrapped. However, a decade later, The Hunger Games keeps thriving.

With a prequel film, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, already out, and another prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping, on the way, fans of the franchise had a lot to look forward to. But the feature films aren't the only new additions to the franchise, as The Hunger Games is officially becoming a stage play. In a new announcement on Instagram, The Hunger Games officially cast the new Katniss Everdeen: Mia Carragher for the upcoming play in London.

At San Diego Comic-Con, Elle Fanning opens up about how fan campaigns helped her get cast in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Beginning in 2012, the Hunger Games series has produced five movie adaptations to date, including the four mainline franchise films and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Next up is the Haymitch backstory movie Sunrise on the Reaping.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will be directed by Francis Lawrence and features Joseph Zada in the lead role of young Haymitch. Fanning has been cast as a young Effie Trinket, while other cast members include Mckenna Grace, Ralph Fiennes, Maya Hawke, Jesse Plemons, Kieran Culkin, Ben Wang, and Glenn Close.

Speaking with MTV at Sdcc, Fanning addressed the role fans played in her casting process. According to the actor, the studio told her that "they were getting kind of hounded online" by fans who demanded "Elle needs to play Effie!

The assembled crowd of over 6,500 fans was given plenty of warning from the moderators that the some scenes may not be suited for all audiences, on top of the usual warnings of curse words. The first 22 minutes of the Stephen King adaptation “The Long Walk” debuted at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, following the debut of the new red-band trailer and a panel featuring the cast, including Mark Hamill, David Jonsson (“Alien: Romulus”), Tut Nyuot and Garrett Wareing (“Manifest”).

The film is adapted from King’s 1979 novel (first written when he was 19!), set in an authoritarian America in which 50 young adult men join a televised contest to walk continuously at a pace of at least three miles per hour — or they’ll be killed. Hamill plays a man only known as the Major, the military commander who oversees the Walk and gives the walkers their literal marching orders. In the panel, Hamill said that when director Francis Lawrence approached him about playing the part, it immediately evoked his teenage years in Japan, where he went to school next to a U.S. military base.

The story is a dystopian novel that King originally published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Deadline reports that Cooper Hoffman has signed on to join Andrew Garfield in Artificial, Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming AI movie for Amazon MGM Studios. The film is described as a “comedic drama set tin the world of artificial intelligence.“

The film recounts the tumultuous period at artificial intelligence company OpenAI in 2023, when CEO Sam Altman was fired and rehired in a matter of days. Andrew Garfield (We Live in Time) will star in the film, while Yura Borisov (Anora) will play Ilya Sutskever, a co-founder who led the movement to boot Altman out of the company. Cooper Koch (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story) will also play a role. Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown) remains in talks to play chief technology officer Mira Murati. The studio is set to release “Sunrise on the Reaping” in North America and the United Kingdom on Nov. 26, 2026, but it will reach broader audiences by way of partnerships across various territories. Lionsgate’s international distribution partners on the film include Leonine in Germany, Metropolitan Film in France, Notorious in Italy, Nordisk in Scandinavia, Belga in Benelux, Forum in Eastern Europe and Israel, Ascot Elite in Switzerland, Pris in Portugal, Empire Entertainment in South Africa, Spentzos in Greece, Bg Filmcilik in Turkey, Acme in the Baltics, Myndform in Iceland and Idc across Latin America. Negotiations for distribution in additional markets are still ongoing.

“Sunrise on the Reaping” will be the sixth film in Lionsgate’s “Hunger Game” franchise, which has collectively grossed $3.3 billion at the box office.

Lionsgate has locked in a host of independent international distribution partners for The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping, which begins filming this summer.

Horror is taking over Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con later this month, with Bloody Disgusting’s The Toxic Avenger notably becoming the first Unrated movie in history to host its own Hall H panel. It’s being joined by the Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk, which we’ve learned will be hosting its own Hall H panel at Sdcc on Friday, July 25th from 3 to 4 Pm.

The clip focuses on Victor Lipani's pizza shop in New York City, where Ben Wang's Li Fong regales everyone with a story of how Jackie Chan's Mr. Han and Ralph Macchio's Daniel faced off with O'Shea's men when they tried to attack Li during the Five Boroughs Tournament.

Directed by John Entwistle, "Legends" serves as a sequel to both the 1984 "The Karate Kid" and the 2010 reboot/remake of the same name starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan.

In "Legends," the new "karate kid" is not actually a complete underdog; in fact, he has a lot of experience in kung fu. Ben Wang stars as Li Fong, who moves from the big city to a smaller place, gets a crush on a girl, and makes an enemy out of her violent karate-enthusiast ex-boyfriend. Except, there's more to this movie than that, and that includes a bizarre subplot about Li coaching his new girlfriend's dad to utilize kung fu in a boxing match.

Of course, Li also enters a karate tournament himself because it wouldn't be a "Karate Kid" movie without one.
