When big business meets big charity, the partnership can be very profitable for both. At the same time this modern-day alliance presents interesting ethical questions about the nature of corporate altruism. Philanthropy Inc. tells the story of this new phenomenon using three case studies involving three of the world's largest corporations and three of the world's largest charities. Each story is an example of how the partnership of business and charity can work, and sometimes not work. Episode #1.3

      (2008)
      2008–2015TV Episode
The Canadian version of this Emmy Award winning Format is produced by Castlewood Productions Inc. and began airing on 10 September 2008 on Discovery Channel (Canada). It is hosted by comedian turned cab driver Adam Growe who has a legal taxi drivers license in Toronto and Vancouver. To date 182 original episodes have been produced (December 2012). The Canadian version closely mirrors the structure of its US counterpart, retaining familiar features like Shout Outs, Red Light Challenges, and the double-or-nothing "Video Bonus" option at the end of each game. However, the Canadian version differs in its heavier focus on questions relating to science, technology, nature and adventure, as opposed to purely general knowledge of the American version. Regular questions are worth $25, $50, $100; while Red Light Challenge questions are worth $75. In the second season, a third option, a "swap-out was added - when contestants reach the $100 questions, they have the option to swap out a question, and the Cash Cab dispatcher will give them a new question. In season five, a "Bridge Bonus" was introduced to highlight the unique character of the Vancouver waterfront, and in seasons six and seven and additional "High Five" bonus was added to reward those passenger/teams who correctly answered five questions in a row. The Canadian version of Cash Cab was the first Cash Cab to be taped and broadcast entirely in High Definition. The first four seasons, and the sixth & seventh seasons were filmed in downtown Toronto, while the fifth season was filmed entirely in Vancouver, British Columbia. The taxicab used in all episodes is a 2008 Toyota Sienna. Notes - Following the success of the first season, Canadas host Adam Growe was invited to host a special season premiere episode of the American Cash Cab on December 23, 2008, which promoted the feature film Frost/Nixon. * Adam Growe has been nominated multiple times for a Gemini Award (Canadian TV Awards) as Best Host, for his role as driver/presenter of Cash Cab.
